LCMS was an excellent school, and it can be again. It takes great parents, great teachers, and students who want to learn and come from families who teach respect and manners. Reading past comments, I saw truths in all of them, however many of them were written in gross generalizations. Not every teacher is bad. Not all administrators are bad. Not all students are bullies. In writing a review, angry parents or students need to tailor their comments, observations and feedback to their own experiences and not use a broad brush strokes to paint the whole school as terrible. Yes, this school has gone downhill in the past 3 years, but with the new expected principal, it will snap right back to being excellent again. It does take a village. I'm excited for it's future.

Lyons creek middle school is a terrible school to go to. Staff do not know how to discipline children and fights happen daily. Staff just scream at students to discipline them which is innefective against them because of their nature. Children curse almost in every sentence and I feel insecure at this school. As an advanced student teachers do not help me learn and instead review everything. The cameras at this school do not work and this school does not teach Latin and Japanese. Most children are thieves and cause problems to others. Do not enroll a child in this school unless you want an insecure and dangerous learning environment.

LCMS is the worst school ever. Kids are so mean and raciest its not even funny. I understand you are going to get drama here or there through middle school-high school but this is ridiculous I latterly come home crying at least 2+ more times a week. there's bully's, rude teachers etc. tip in life: DO NOT TAKE YOUR CHILD TO LCMS

I completely agree with the previous comment about this school being just terrible. I honestly felt as if I had written that review. The "anti Bullying Policy" truely is a joke at this school. I understand no matter what middle school you're in there will be bullies but this school does nothing to make your child feel safe. My child was continusaly picked on last year by the same kid he was clever though didn't do it around teachers or anyone else was paying attention. Mine and my childs complaints, and bullying report to the school staff went close to ignored they actually sent me a letter in the mail saying they couldn't find sufficient enough evidence to confirm our bullying complaints and closed the investigation. Eventually that trouble maker went on to bother someone else unfortunatley for that poor unsuspecting child. Then another bully started in on my child and finally my kid had had enough this bully was following my child around and pulling on his clothes and book bag and my son turned around and hit back... My child got suspended over it! For finally sticking up for himself? This school needs some reconstructing starting with the school administration.

This school is just terrible. It is crowded to the point of breaking. I can't speak of all the teachers that "teach" there, but as for the ones my child and his classmates have had, they don't care. One gets the feeling they don't want to be there. The administration is just as lacking as the teachers are- if not more. Your concerns and issues fall on deaf ears. Their anti-bullying policy that is a joke. The children that are bullied have no real recourse and seemed to incur types of bullying from the security guards and administrators themselves. Parents of the bullied child are made to feel as they are just complaining and that they are also at fault. LCMS will not let parents of the bullied child view the tapes that the school administration use for coming to a verdict or conclusion regarding fault. They also don't want to hear any issues that may reflect poorly upon them and show signs of retaliation toward the child when then are criticized. LCMS is a bad school. I feel awful knowing my child and good kids like her are subject to such a negative experience within their formative years.

worst school in Broward County. Some teachers are very rude to students, Teachers do not contact parents before giving severe punishment to students. I sometimes feel like tmy daughter is treated differntly because she is African American. Just a very difficult adminstration to deal with

I am a volunterer at this school, I also have two kids who have completed this school with great and excellent grades and another begins in the fall 2012. I have to say after reading some of these reviews that I don't see what some others apparently see. I think this school is great, the teachers that my kids have had have been very hands on in communicating any issues to me. My kids were elgible to attend local magnet schools but we chose to keep them at LCMS. It does take a "village" but that begins at home! If you are not happy, get involved, see what you can do to make a difference!

I dont know what has happened to LCMS but is definitly turned into a mediocre school. Our oldest daughter went here and we loved the school then, but in the last 2 years it has become a joke. No HW given and poor communication between teachers and parents. The school is over crowded and I 100% agree with the review below, uear came and went an my 6th grader who is in AP and GEM has grown little in education. Very dissapointed. We were sad to see the old principal go.

Kids have 14 days extra off , no homework during the week or weekend, my concern has been my 8th grader son which is in PA classes . Never HW and has only done 2 poster projects through out the year, I strongly saw a year just go by and no growth.

To be fair to LCMS I must state that I have not met all the teachers and am solely basing this review on my own and friends/parents of children going to LCMS.

I just finished 8th grade and overall I liked the school. There are many clubs and sports to join. The teachers are very nice and they care. I would suggest trying to get into advanced classes in this school, because the people are so much nicer and focused on school work. I compared my advanced classes to my regular ones, and I loved the advanced classes. The regular ones are filled with bullies and just stuck up kids.

My daughters first year at the school, so far I see compassion from the teachers and the principal is awesome, he took the time to remember my daughters name and follow up with a question I had regarding school work, he got back to me personally. The band instructor is wonderful, only a few weeks in class and already she can play her instrument.

My son has attended Lyons Creek for 3 years and any parent who rates this school a 5 must have a smart kid. Now for the parents who have kids who tend to struggle you are in for a nightmare at this school. It doesn't matter if you attempt to stay on top of things the teachers DO NOT GIVE A CRAP especially once they make up their minds that your kid seems lazy or not interested. Don't let the A rating fool you. It means absolutely NOTHING.The teaching faculty is a joke, they are there to collect a paycheck and take weeks to update grades. By the time they do your kid has failed. And they always blame your child rather than themselves for failing a student when they make no attempt to contact parents about what is happening in their class.

Lyons Creek is an outstanding middle school. It is a magnet school, but in a great neighboorhood, instead of a lower socioeconomic area. The principal was a finalist for Principal of the year in the state. My family moved into the area so my son could attend a wonderful trifecta of schools: Tradewinds, Lyons Creek, and Monarch.

My son is in 7th grade there, and while the school itself is nice, the faculty and staff seem apathetic at best......Very little structure in his advanced classes, and it takes forever to get a graded paper or project returned....pretty middlin'

Lyons Creek is a great school. The principal really cares about the students. It is rare to find a staff that works so well together. Middle school is a change for most kids, Lyons makes it much easier for the kids. Lyons Creek ROCKS!

Teachers could care less and are very insistant on letting us know that too. I never have been able to actually interact with my son's teachers and all they do all the time the students are in class is email their friends and talk on the phone. I would not recommend this school if you are hoping that your child recieves and education.

Last year was my son's first year in middle school and I was extremely worried. With the help of some wonderful and caring teachers - Allbright, Johnson, Kozell, Castro & DeSoritz - we survived. This group of teachers are the best. There are not enough words to express my gratitude to having them as my son's teachers.

Protect your children from this school! The faculty and staff were either uninformed or did not care the majority of time I requested information both before and during my son s enrollment. My child came as an outstanding straight 'A' student only to hate school after one year.A strict dress code is needed as students dress very promiscuously. The entire school appears to care only about the FCAT and their school grade.

My son is extremely intelligent and has been in the gifted program since pre-school. He has always made straight 'A's' until he entered Lyons Creek Middle School. It is obvious that neither the teachers nor the administrative/leadership/counseling staff care at all about the success and/or problems of my son. They should feel like losers since my son isn't doing well since entering their school.

I have a son that graduated from Lyons Creek last year and a daughter that is now in the eighth grade. I have had nothing but enjoyable experiences in dealing with the staff. The teachers are attentive and regularly give feedback on my children's progress or lack thereof. Mr. Satty is wonderful and should be applauded for his professionalism, ethics and devotion.

Lyons Creek is an excellent school, and the majority of the teachers are very interested and involved in the well-being of the kids. Our son has really blossomed here, both academically and socially. Like many other schools, however, they need to be able to offer much more in the way of cultural learning opportunities, e.g. art, music, etc. In addition, like every other school in this state, they have been forced into the position of putting so much focus on the FCAT tests that it has become detrimental to the learning process in non-FCAT subjects.

Lyons Creek Middle School is an 'A' school in my books. Both my daughters in this school and they love it. The teachers give the students all the necessary attention to reach their potential. They have a wonderful collection of staff. Both my dghtrs have done very well thanks to the classes they offer. The school has a great after school program and activities. One of my daughters is in the gifted classes and they have done wonders for her! I would tell any one to send their child to Lyons Creek Middle if they have the opportunity.
