Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

Riverside Elementary is one of the best schools in Coral Springs! The new Principal has brought multiple innovative programs to the school. The new multiage program is fantastic and the teachers are wonderful. Not to mention all of the teachers are hard working dedicated individuals who care about children. The parent involvement is like no other. The PTO works closely with school staff to support the needs of the school. I would recommend this school to anyone moving to Florida!

Riverside El. is the best kept secret in Coral Springs! Beautiful small school in the southwest area of the city. Amazing teachers, families and most important-wonderful children! My 3 children are receiving an outstanding education and adore their school. Some teachers were better than others by far but that is everywhere. Stay involved with your child's education. The technology each year increases and this coming year will be even stronger! Riverside is a wireless interactive school. Any family looking into attending Riverside will be thrilled. Administrators doors are always open and ready to listen. The best way as a new parent to jump in is to join the PTO. I found that was an easy way to meet other parents and jump in to volunteer . What a great school!

This is a great school. It's private school quality. The new principal has made many positive changes. I did not like the principal before her and I'm not thrilled about the vice principal. The teachers I have dealt with are wonderful. The PTO is the best. You have a great group of volunteers. It is very family oriented. I am happy my kids go to this school.

I beg to differ with the parents below this was my daughters last year at Riverside and I am confident that she received everything she needs to be successful in Middle School. I have never met a more dedicated, hard working and professional group of teachers. Talking about the paycheck they have not received raises in 7 years although the school has stayed an A unlike other schools. The new principal came to the school in January and is very child focused. I am sorry that the parent s below had such a bad experience but I LOVE this school and awe are sad that we had to move to Middle school. Riverside has a family atmosphere and both my children went to the school K-5. The teachers were like an extension of me withe them. I felt confident that they were loved and cared for as well as instructed. They were always approachable and available to all my needs. My kids both have disabilities and I can not say enough about their ESE department. They were the greatest. Like the kids say "RIVERSIDE ROCKS" I challenge anyone to find out for themselves about the school and they will be very happy they did.

Its sad to say this, but I have to agree with the parents below. My neighbors all spoke highly of Riverside, one of them specifically with 2 boys of whom the oldest is now attending UCF and the youngest is currently attending JP Taravella. I bought my house up here because of the wonderful things I heard about this school and I must say, my child's teacher is excellent, however, like the parents below say, the administration is the worst. They could care less about the students and the teachers, you walk in and the first two people you see are 2 ladies that seem to be mad at the world every single day. You walk in there and you say good morning and its like no one heard, then you're leaving and say have a nice day, no response. They are there only to collect their paycheck and nothing else. This has been a sad experience for me but my child only has next school year at Riverside and I will be so thankful when that year is over and he moves to middle school. I would not recommend this school to anyone until I know that they have done a clean sweep of the administration and hire people who cares about our kids and our teachers.

My daughter is in 2nd grade at this school and you can easily tell which teachers are just there for a check! I am so tired of begging a teacher to let me know my child's conduct so I can help! I wish there were more teachers who actually care there is definitely not enough programs or help for children having a hard time learning.

The whole reason we bought our house a few years ago is because we had heard so many great things about Riverside. Unfortunately, I am HIGHLY disappointed. Not only are the classrooms over crowded despite the state cap of 18, the school leaders would rather pay the fine vs hiring additional teachers. This makes it extremely difficult for the current teachers when they have so many students with no extra help in the classroom. Luckily, parent involvment is high but the administration is TERRIBLE!! They don't support the teachers, they don't support the parents, they seem to only care about their bottom line. The teachers do the best they can considering the circumstance but they're spread out way too thin. Parents are frustrated and seem to have no choice as to what goes on in the school; our only hope is to remain involved for the sake of our kids. Had I known all this before buying this house, I wouldn't have bought my house here. I would have bought a much smaller house in Parkland where the school system is supposedly much better. I think Riverside was GREAT back in the day. My neighbor's children, all my age now, all went to Riverside & they swear by the school. I beg to differ

I couldn't agree more with the last post. My oldest (in college now) experienced a very different Riverside than the Riverside my youngest now attends. Although there are still great teachers and parental involvement, the Administration has gone steadily downhill. The current administrators make most everything difficult for teachers, parents and, sadly, the kids. There are still a good number of outstanding teachers but you must take the initiative to insure your child is placed with the right one. Be your child's advocate if what you're hearing from an administrator doesn't sound right - it's probably not.

My oldest child is in high school now but we started so many years ago right here at Riverside. Now my youngest is almost done and ready to move on up to middle school. This school is not at all what it used to be. The teachers really are good and the parent involvement is over-the-top. Wonderful parents! Unfortunately, administration has brought this school to it's knees. It's such a shame. I am very happy to be saying goodbye in three more months. I was reading over the reviews and I do have to say that it is very interesting that the week of Dec. 2nd to Dec. 6th, there are five excellent reviews. All the prior reviews are spread out over Aug, Jan., May, April and then Nov. Five in the span of four days? How stupid do you think we are? People don't like to be played for a fool and if this is the kind of thing you have to do to stay in the game, you have bigger problems than you realize. We don't have blinders on, as parents, we see it all very clearly and it isn't pretty.

My 2 children and my 2 Nieces go to Riverside Elementary. We have all had only the best experience with the most dedicated and amazing teachers. I am an active volunteer in the school so, I see first hand the wonderful way the administration and staff interact with the kids. I am thrilled that my kids go to this school and are getting a quality education in a positive environment. They are learning way above grade level and excelling and feeling confident in all that they accomplish!

Riverside is an excellent school. I have 2 chldren that currently attend and a 3rd that will in a few years. Very happy with the teachers my children have had over the years. The staff and administration is wonderful. I have met many great parents who have become friends. The PTO is innovative, current and available. They have so many fresh ideas and are always striving to make the school even better. I volunteer at the school often and see first hand the quality of education my children are recieving. The teachers are always open and honest and make time for any needs you may have. The principle and administration are also very available and recpetive to any needs or concerns. Over all a very happy thriving school!

I am a third time parent of a Riverside student and coulnd't be happier with our choice to move to Coral Springs! The teachers, administration and entire staff are genuinely interested in my child's education as well as utmost safety! I will miss Riverside when we 'move up' to middle school....but the wonderful memories will always remain!!!

I have 2 children attending Riverside for the second consecutive year. Prior to our move to Coral Springs, my son attended two other schools in Broward County for Kindergarten and First Grade. There is no comparison. The staff at Riverside (both teachers and administration) exhibit a dedication to education and a commitment to the school that far exceeds what we experienced in the previous 2 schools. The parent involvement at this school is outstanding and both of my children are thriving here.

Our child attended Riverside for all six years, kindergarten to 5th grade. Having the past six years to reflect on, it's sad to say that this school has been gradually going down hill. We never had a "bad" teacher. I will have to say that my child's teacher for 5th grade was not as impressive as the teachers from previous years. My child's education suffered this past year. I don't feel that my child was challenged at all. My child is not in gifted, just an average child but the 5th grade material was not where it should have been. I feel that Riverside has not prepared my child for 6th grade. Back in 2009 a parent refered to a bullying issue in their review. Well, the bullying problems within this school still exist one year later. Administration will not assist you or protect your child. It's very sad to see.

My 10 y/o is in the fourth grade there, advanced program, and has gone there since Kindergarten. He and I, both, absolutely love this school. He was 'elected' into the advanced program by his Kindergarten teacher and now has tested through Broward County to remain in this program. I am very happy with the support system and teaching staff of Riverside Elementary.

My daughter has been attending Riverside since Kindergarten and the education she has acquired is tremendous. Although she sometimes has too much homework for her age. She had a wonderful 1st grade teacher who really challenged the kids and took them to a higher level! She is in 2nd grade this year and we unfortunately are moving closer to my job. I am going to miss the school and it's excellent education!!

My oldest daughter has been attending Riverside since Kindergarten. She is approaching the end of her Fourth Grade year. She has come a long way and I do contribute that to the wonderful teachers found at Riverside. We have never had a teacher that we didn't like. Riverside received a new Principal for this school year. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! That was a position, in my opinion, that drastically needed to be changed. What a world of difference that has made. We have had issues with Bullying over the years. My daughter is an introvert. She is quiet and passive. I feel that the teachers listen and care about our concerns over this issue but the consequences brought on by the school's policies are not strong enough. The student's really don't have a fear of what the punishment will be in regards to poor behavior choices.

I have been a parent of two kids at Riverside for three years. This is one of the best schools around. It is a very safe environment. The staff is very supportive of parents. The thing I like the best is the fun stuff the school does. They go the extra mile to make school enjoyable (as is should be especially for elementry school children). The PTO is also very active and there is always something exciting going on. We are leaving this school this year and I am so dissapointed. Thank you Riverside teachers, staff, and PTO for making an awesome school for my two kids!

This has been an excellent school. Diversity has apparently positively contributed to the school success. The more diverse the school is becoming, the learning experience for each student has improved.

My son entered this school last year, and had the most remarkable kindergarten teacher, a great way to start his foundation in life. She was very vocal and corressponded alot with us as parents. I like the school generally because of all the activities that involve both student and parent. I look forward to my son's success at Riverside Elementary.

As this review is greatly edited, I have no choice but to choose my words. Larry Katz was a fantastic Principal at Riverside Elementary, he has been greatly missed, the big shoes he left behind have not even come close to be filled. Need I say more?

I agree with the posting about the principal. The current one seems disconnected from the parents and students. Mr Katz had a down to earth one-on-one approach.

I have two children who attend this school. One is about to graduate this year from 5th grade. This school had a change in principal this past school year. I think Mr. Katz was the best but the school is doing great and our scores prove it. Great school. A+

I think that Riverside is a very good school. Most of the teachers care. But I agree with the parent who said that they do not have any notes to help them with their homework. It is true for math because if they do not have homework from the textbook, they do not bring it home. When they have homework from they workbook it could be difficult for some parents to help them. A lot of us forgot the math that we learned in elementary school. The kids should bring their textbooks home.

I feel that this school don't really help the kids that are in need, and always make excuses to cover that they are failing as teachers, also they allow kids to be bully, they don't take action, all they give is referrals, and that just makes the kid feel like they there is no major consequence for their actions, and when addressed, they give the lame excuse well the kid likes her and that how they demostrate it. My daughter feel like she can't go to a teacher anymore because they brush it off. Also the children have no school notes of what they have done in class, and when they get home to do they homework they have nothing to look back to to help them it makes it harder for them and stress them out.

I like this school very much because it gives alot of information about what is going to happen in the school in that month or week. It also lets the teachers have confreneces with the parent and child and talk about the childs help in many areas and more. In the school in teaching hours there are many programs the school has for kids for helping them with the same stuff the kids learn in the regular class but slower. I would say this school is very very well educated and all.
