INTERMEDIATE

Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

This is the 1s year that our son has attended the school. He just finished 3rd grade and his teacher was one of the best teachers that he has had. Mrs. Head is a teacher in the true sense of the meaning. She is very professional yet she created an atmosphere where the students were very comfortable and eager to learn. My son loved going to school and enjoyed learning! The school has an immense sense of community and encourages parents involvement which is paramount in the success of any school community. We are very impressed and look forward to another great year as our daughter joins the CHE family as well in kindergarten in August.

County Hills has been a great school for my kids. We've been there for many years now and my children are doing well. They love their teachers and have many friends. The school has a great sense of community and has very nice family events like BINGO and a 5K walk. The teachers and staff really care about all the kids and put a lot of effort into getting to know the parents. The school PTA has a lot of opportunities for volunteering and is always lots of fun. Great school!

Our family has had a wonderful experience at CHE. Every teacher has been extremely committed to the success of my child; the administration is responsive and always trying to be fair, and definitely committed to following the rules. Staff members seem to really enjoy the children and be at our service. The PTA is strong, raising a great deal of money to enhance the kids' experience and education - including providing wireless access for the school. It's always a bit uncomfortable to be the outsider amongst a group of people who already know each other and have worked together. But as I'm teaching my own child, when one takes the time and initiative to get to know people and let them know you, friendly working relationships with most, and great friendships with some will develop. I found that amongst the parents, teachers, staff and PTA. No matter how good the school, it is also important to remember that you are the best advocate for your child, and not be afraid to speak up when necessary. I highly recommend this school for the elementary education experience as a whole. We will be very sad to move on...

The school is phenomenol. This is our last year as our youngest is going to middle school. I was shocked to read the previous comment as the PTA has always been warm and welcoming. In fact they do an over the top job with all of their fundraisers, including their auction. The teachers and administration are extremely fair and do not cave into the demands of irrational parents

Country Hills has been a fantastic school for my children. The staff is top notch and the educational needs of my children have far exceeded my expectations. I don't agree with the negative comments regarding the PTA, as everyone has always been kind and open to new members who are willing to volunteer their time. The principal and vice principal have taken parent bullying complaints very seriously and as a previous reviewer said, they do not bend to the demands of the "irrational parents."

Country Hills Elementary is a fantastic school that I am happy to say my children attend. The school leadership is exemplary, the teachers are clearly dedicated and the overall parent involvement is amazing. We have had one of our children in that school for 10 years now and all of them have benefited from the education provided. My wife and I have always been members of the PTA and find that group as a whole to be an amazing group of parents and grandparents. I would strongly recommend this area and school to anyone.

Country Hills is a great school and has a wonderful staff and inclusive PTA. The negative review mentioning the PTA "clique" is obviously from the "blackballed" parent. Perhaps, it's time for this parent to make an apology for her poor choices and the people she has hurt vs continue to make accusations.

This is our third and final year at Country Hills as we have a 5th grader. The teachers are over the top great and truly teach with a team effort and communication with parents. The office staff is always friendly and helpful. The Principlal and Asst. Principal have a strong presence both at drop-off and pick-up and are friendly enough. If I have one complaint it is that of the PTA, which seems to be the poster child of every negative stereotype regarding PTAs. The "clique" as mentioned in a previous review is unfriendly and unwelcoming. Any effort on there part seems forced or self-serving. If you don't conform to there objective or buck the system it seems to make the mom a mark for unwarranted ugliness. At the first meeting of the year they literally didn't allow a women to speak and upon this year elections "certain" moms have been blackballed while open positions go unmanned. It's a shame and I'm sorry to say that I would stay clear. I am surprised that the Principal who seems to be a no nonsense type allows this. With all that said, if your looking for an excellent education environment for your children have it at Country Hills.

I am new to CHE this year, I couldn't be more excited in the years to come. Everyone is so helpful and caring there. They really and truly do have every child in mind when planning and working to help that child. I love the way everyone is willing to help and the communication is amazing. Thank you to everyone at CHE! You are lucky to have this family work with your children.

I had to write a review after reading the last. I am an African American Parent with 2 children. One high achiever who received a 5 on FCATS and one developmentally delayed who was challenged to do his best. My high achiever couldn't have done it without her teachers pushing her and my developmentally delayed would not have made it without the teachers at this school who showed how much they really did care. Every school has flaws. Just be a crazy involved parent at home and in school and your child will make it anywhere. I had to fight for my kids in some areas as any parent does. Color didn't play any part in the success of either of my kids in this school. New principal who plays by the rules, not by what every parent wants. Even the Assistant Principal now is African American... Good veteran teachers to look out for: Edwards, Caldwell-Dent, Rosenthal, Quintero, Renaldi. I loved this school

Country Hills has a great vibe but it does little to include all parents. I particularly do not like the way special need students are always left out of the loop. It's almost as if they're only there to fill out seats but not really to experience school. Good school but has a lot of work to do to include all students.

I am very pleased with this school. My child attended 1st grade. It was great, excellent, the staff help, the teacher overall. My child teacher went far and beyond to encourage no only the student but the parents involvement through her example. She even put money of her pocket by selecting web sites toward the enrichment of the child education that emprove the child skills. Reading, math and science. Unfortunately I moved and have to change school. I highly recomend this school. I was concern because some previous posting regarding which addres staff behavior towards minorities. I am glad I did not pay attentiontion to it, cause the staff, director and teacher was excellent experience. My child love this school, and me too.

I have 3 children enrolled, my daughter in a gifted program. We have had excellent teachers, and everyone in the office is very helpful. If I had one complaint, as someone previously stated the PTA moms are a little too 'cliquey'. They want your money but do little to envourage new members to become part of the fold.

I have 2 children at this school. One attended the PLACE program and we were thrilled with the teachers and staff. My daughter made huge improvements. We moved our other daiughter into this school in 2nd grade and continued to love it until 3rd grade where we had the worst teacher ever! The staff did everything to help us except to actually allow us to pull her out of the class. Country Hills is great as a whole, but ask around for the best teachers because some are horrible!

As a parent an ESE student I am very dissatisfied. ESE students are treated like red headed step-children. The ESE classrooms are in a separate wing of the school,so there is little contact with typical peers. Parents have to fight tooth and nail to have there child included in general ed. This school has not changed with the times, they still do everything the same way as they did 20 years ago. ESE students are completely segregated!

Country Hills has a wonderful academic program but some of the teachers and the principal can be a little 'cold', even unfriendly. The PTA conducts its meetings in the morning so, if you are a working parent, you will never be able to attend and there seems to be very little room for newcomers. Everything is run by the same groups of people, parents and teachers gossip about students and, I have witnessed some heated exchanges between minority families and administration which made me uneasy because I did not feel they were being treated the way they should be. This school has an excellent reputation but seems to be lagging when it comes to treating all families fairly. They should really take a look at that.

My daughter attended Country Hills from 2006-2008 for their PLACE program. It is special education program for ages 3-5. She received both speech and occupational therapy and the program has worked wonders with my child! The teachers and staff are fantastic. Very caring and compassionate yet firm and structured. My daughter has 'graduated' out of the PLACE program but still has 1 more year of preschool so she will not be attending Country Hills next school year. However, we are moving this summer into Country Hills boundaries to ensure she will be there when she starts kindergarten. We loev Country Hills!!

We are a military family so my children have attended quite a few schools. This school is probably the best school they have ever attended. The principal, admin staff and teachers are very caring and professional. It has an excellent gifted program and science program and the music, art and PE classes are the best. I hate the whole FCAT hoopla but that is a state issue not the school's issue.

The academic programs seem well structured, I am pleased with his progress so far but its only been a little over a month. Reading is a huge emphasis at this school, more than math I've noticed and talked to fellow parents whose kids are in upper grades. The tardiness/punctuality policy is a bit too harsh however and too much weight is put upon being 1 minute late due to traffic or rain or such. That's about my only complaint so far, so good.

My son and daughter attended Country Hills for a combined total of 10 years. Overall I think the school is excellent. Most of the teachers are outstanding. The kids stay motivated and want to learn. The one issue I experience for both my son and daughter was reading. Country Hills insists on teaching phonics. It was very evident when my son left Country Hills to attend Eagle Ridge. He was not as prepared for 4th grade as he should have been.

In a city of great schools, Country Hills is the greatest. The teachers are the best, and under the leadership of an awesome principal. Parent involvment is welcome, and the programs they offer are varied. Music, Art, Science, sports and after school clubs are all available, and they have a great program for gifted children. I moved to the district just to have my kids attend this school. It's that good.

My daughter is a 1st grader at Country Hills. I agree that this is an excellent school. I only have one, well, gripe. I would like to see them doing more math. Reading is very important. I just would like to see the curriculum more balanced. I would also like to see them do more projects and book reports. Overall, my daughter and I are crazy about Country Hills!

My children attended this school for two years. I loved the support the principal gave the staff, teachers and the PTA. I enjoyed volunteering there frequently. This school recently reconfigured from K-3 to K-5 and boundaries were changed. This did help the school with an major overcrowding problem. This school also emphasized reading and a love for reading and has a program in place for struggling readers. The teaching philosphy is different from most schools with stress on centers and individual accomplishment. While I thought this great while attending, I am not so sure how effective it is now that we are experiencing another school.

Country Hills is a school that holds students to high academic standards. The tests scores are consistently high. However, their method of instruction is not suited for every child. Beware that if your child does not fit into the 'box' they will fall behind and also become labled. There is an emphasis on 'Ballpark' spelling (write it the way you think it sounds). This does not work for non auditory learners. There are many bright children who do not learn the way that Country Hills teaches. If your child is having trouble at this schoool, yank them! If your child needs a structured and traditional learning environment, do not send them here.

My child transfered to this school from Colorado in October of 2003. Since starting at this school my student has been bullied on numerous occasions and no matter how much I speak to his teacher, there doesn't seem to be any way to resolve the problem. When I spoke to another parent about the problem, I was told to get used to it, I'm in the big city now. To me that is a terrible attitude for any parent to take. As I see it, there is not nearly enough adult supervision going on at this school or the children responsible for the bulling and their parents would be held responsible for their actions. The accademics are OK but nothing spectacular. When this school changes in 2003-2004 to a K-5 instead of the current K-3, I think the problems will only intensify.

Though the other parents comments here seem to be good I have had an awful experience with this school and the faculty. My child was belittled by his teacher and excluded from activities becuase for no other reason then the teacher being upset that I was filing complaints against her, I tried several times to get help from the principal who really did not care what I had to say because I was not a major part of the PTA (though I was a member and did my part volunteering). My child now hates school and has several problems trusting his new school and teachers. I urge all parents to watch what goes on at this school, and listen to your children if they say there's a problem

We have sent two children through Country Hills and our third is there now. I think that probably says it all. I only wish I could go through elementary school all over again and attend such a marvelous school. Learning, sharing, caring and plenty of incouragement is what this school is best at! You can't do better than Country Hills.

Country Hills' innovative teaching philosophy and programs geared toward the primary-aged child make it a warm, encouraging and absolutely magical place to learn. Amazing teachers that instill a sense of responsibility, pride and self-esteem in each child. I cannot say enough good things about this special place.
