I'm going to be completely real and straight up about this school. If you're a student who talks too much, gets to know many people, or are very social. Do not come here. This school has a lot of problems when it comes to being social. There are many fights, but if you don't mess with people and go to school to do your work, get your grades, and leave then you won't have any problems. I'd have to say that at least 70% of the students here are involved in drugs, honestly. Besides that there are a handful of good, nice teachers, yet the majority of the teachers are rude and out of place mostly nagging about their paychecks and assigning a lot of homework. Most teachers do NOT teach, so if you're like me and actually want to go to college you're going to have to do a lot of self-teaching. Also, bullying, drugs, violence, etc. are all very common in this school. Rude teachers are also extremely common. Just try to stay out of problems and watch with who you talk to at the school and you'll be fine. Also, I'm a junior here. So, honestly consider everything I've said when making your choice of schools. Also, I am an all A student and all honors/AP classes.

There appears to be a familiar thread throughout the reviews...the administration and guidance are lacking. We can only hope that someone from the top is reading these honest reviews and they decide to investigate. High School guidance counselors are so important in High School. Come on Western put a fire under these people and make this one of the best schools in Broward County.

This school does not inform parents of harmful events that take place at the school such as when a SWAT Team came and had to take control of some students who were vandalizing the principal's car and protesting on the roof creating a lock-down. This school also has teacher's who are ineffective. It is also very poor (may not be the school's fault) in resources like paper and books. The teachers rarely post grades and comments on Pinnacle regularly. I also feel they are ineffective in putting out information such as Picture Day. But I have to say, you will never have a problem with this school trying to sell you a yearbook or get you to sign up for the PTA. These allegations are not due to any personal vendetta, it has just been my experience and so I recommend finding another.

I'm only in 6th Grade but I'm already concerned about High School so as far as I read these comments some are positive ones and others are bad ones so from you students and parents can I have just a simple Yes or No if I should go to this school or not? Thank You!
The Debate program is outstanding.

The worst aspect of this school is not the abundance of durgs and violence present. it is the terrible administration and guidance. A majority of the administrators are extremely rude and will go out of their way to inconveinence you. They clearly despise students and do not seem to have any desire to help them with their education. I pity the few good people who work in that school and are stuck with all of those miserable husks of human beings.

I have a daughter that just graduated from Western High School. As far as I can see, this is the worst excuse for a high school that I have ever seen. Teachers, administration and other faculty do not care at all about students or learning. They care only about drawing a paycheck. The principal at a senior assembly told the students he would have nothing to do with them until graduation. My daughter had no textbooks too study from but the kids are supposed to do well? How if you have nothing to study from. Scott Fiske has won principal of the year now twice. I would love to know how since he can not bother to return telephone calls to parents over concerns at the school. It was proven to me time and again that teachers and administration just don't care.

Wonderful school. My son has been attending there for two years so far, and all the teachers i have come across are devoted to their work and always have the students' best interest at heart. Entire school staff are professional and efficient. Parents are always informed of latest news/issues.

I have three daughters one will graduate this year, one is a sophomore and one will join the school next year My experience as a parent has been incredibly satisfactory. I know first hand the Broward school system, and as an educator consultant that seen many schools Western High School stands out as one of the good ones.

When the boundaries changed and put our family at Western High School, many neighbors were upset. Well, things in life sometimes happen for a reason. These are known as 'blessings in disguise'. My son's experience as a student at Western has been incredibly postive. Western High School is an excellent place for academic learning, social growth, and extracurricular activities! Principal Scott Fisk works along with a professional administration and teachers to ensure a safe and effective learning environment for the students that attend WHS. The student population is manageable, and therefore, students and teachers are not overwhelmed. I am an actively involved volunteer parent, so I see firsthand how the campus operates. When an issue comes up, whether it be academic or social, it is handled quickly and efficiently with the utmost professionalism. Graduates of WHS say it was the best high school experience ever! Go Wildcats!

to any parent reading this disregard the idiotic review of the student thaqt gave the school a one star. This school, yes has its problems and its not perfect but no school is perfect and every school has its flaws. Now To defend the school. there are barely and i mean barely any fights at this school so its safe. The school this year just opened a food court and new tables and booths in the cafeteria. The teachers are overall average but some are very good and good at there proffesion. And to the bullying rumor. there is no such thing as bullying at western. The sports team are not as good because st.thomas and private schools recruit kids that some are supposed to go to our school. and the after school programs are awesome. please your kid would enjoy the school.!

I am a freshman student currently at Western High, and I plan to change schools immediately. Overall, the school is below average. Western is a really 'drugged ' school, students smoke a lot on campus, and I've never been so exposed to drugs and bullying in my life; its so bad. There's a lot of fights, and classes are too out of control, and the school is way overcrowded because Cypress Bay Students came in. These past few months have made such a negative impact on my life, I can't take it no more, I'm transferring, without saying goodbye to my friends that I've known since 6th grade. If you are a parent, that has a kid at Western, hopefully, they don't go through the same thing I did. She or he might enjoy it, but if you came to their school yourself, I guarantee, you won't approve of some things.

My son has really bloomed at this school-he has enjoyed most of his teachers, and most have been very helpful in getting him through some rough spots. He has an attention problem, that most see as one to be helped, not punished.

Western High has a few great teachers, the ones that stay after school or work with students on weekends. Mostly, the teachers go to work, give lots of useless homework, go home and do it all over again the next day. My child excels because of his motivation, not the schools. The sports teams try, the band is good, drama is hard working, and debate is one of the best in the country.

My daughter is a sophmore, I moved to this area for the schools I am very Disappointed!! The teachers have no clue, and don't care to either. I hate to say it but if I can spare another parent of making the same mistake

This school is very disappointing; the students do not even have a set of math books to take home to do there homework/study.
Teachers are mediocre, with exception of a few. Sports programs aren't that wonderful. I didn't enjoy it here, look into a private school if you can't move.
