West Defuniak Elementary School

I have nothing but good to say about WDE. My daughter has ADHD and can be a challenge at times but she is also very smart, which is something the former school that she went to never believed. Every teacher she has had here has been great about communicating with me through e-mail, phone and or note about her struggles and accomplishments. They have given me useful advice that has helped me to help her. She has come from being on the verge of failing when we moved here 2&1/2 school years ago to making B's, C's and even a few A's and not because they dummed anything down but because each of her teachers have been willing to stay in close contact with me and let me know when she is doing well and when she is slipping. The Principle, Counselor and staff are great as well.

I now have my third child enrolled in west defuniak. There is simply nothing but good to say. Wde has always strongly encouraged parent involvement. The teachers that I have had experience with have always truly cared about the individual child, and always provide extra assistance when it is needed. What most impresses me is that my son's class prays before going to lunch. Strong christian beliefs are abundant in this school. If your child attends this school, you will truly be part of a whole new family.

West Defuniak Elementary has provided a strong academic basis for all three of my children. The teachers are warm and caring, but also maintain the level of control needed to provide the most effective environment for the process of learning. This school also promotes appropriate social interaction by guiding these children from multicultural backgrounds as they learn how to accept and relate to each other. We moved to Defuniak Springs when my eldest was in second grade, and have been thankful for the academic foundation all three have received at West Defuniak Elementary. Parental involvement is strongly encouraged, and greatly appreciated. All in all, a lovely 'small town' feel school providing the educational background enabling youngsters to succeed.

My third child started K here this year. This a wonderful school. The teachers and administration are always available if you have concerns. Not only the educational value of this school, but the morals taught, mostly by example, have put my ninth grader and my sixth grader on the right track to a great future. Both have been on the A B Honor Roll throughout their school years and have never been in any kind of trouble. I credit much of these blessings to the early education they received at WDE. R. Excellent learning environment! Both my children have received a great education at WDES. Teachers are caring and helpful. Administration is responsive and easy to contact. We have nothing but good things to say about this wonderful school.
