This school is great the teachers are hard working, the band director is excellent, the P.E class could use a little strronger bullying policie.

The bar here is set so low, it's just sad. We are not from here and the public school system we came from was much more challenging creative and fun! My child was bored out of her mind at this school. A lot of paper pushing. Most of her tests were the exact copies of the study guide. I received a letter from the school in December (the letter was dated in October) that my child's gifted teacher wasn't a certified teacher in the state of Florida. Of course, this is a 'fluff' class anyway, no real challenge to it. Very disappointing. The gym has no air conditioning, the school grounds are a mess, and the buildings look like they are going to fall down. Gym class is a joke. They tell the kids to 'find something to do'. If your child is average, they might be happy. If they are gifted, and truly love to learn, they will not like it at all.

Excellent drama and band program. Guidance office very friendly and professional. Great staff. Good atmosphere for children and learning. Old facility, needs upgrade. Auditorium due for renovation at the end of this year - yeah! Algebra 1 Honors class receives high school credit - 8th grade.

Im a student here at Fernandina Beach Middle School and I love it here! I just transferred from Callahan Middle and My parents and I are impressed with the acedemics here...Callahan is so behind and Fernandina's student have made me comfortable with the school and now i love going there. I like my teachers and gives us a challenge ,but its a challenge for me cause Callahan was behind. I also came here not only for the schooling but for the sports.

This school was absolutely horrible! My son entered the school as an A/B student his entire life. Within a semester had gone to F's and D's. We couldn't get any help from his teachers. Second semester we pulled him out, started homeschooling him. What do you know... all A's and B's again. If you value your child's education, self-esteem, or future, you will not allow him or her to attend FBMS!

Emphasis on academics and intellectual pursuits seem to be less of a priority than a rigorous dress code.

We moved here right as my daughter was starting middle school, 6th grade. I have heard for years how horrible middle schools are supposed to be. Not so here. Just love it! If you ever have a problem it is handled immediately! My daughter has had many great teachers and is challenged and does just great! Can't say enough wonderful things about this school!

My child went to a private school here on Amelia Island she would complain about the school and i was tired of hearing it. She would tell me about how all her friends were leaving and she wanted to go to a public school. I finally let her and she was really excited when I told her. I feel like our relationship has gotten better since she has been there. There are bad kids there but she has made good decisions and she is hanging around with good kids. I think the group she is friends with now are better than the ones she had at private school. I also think the teachers and staff help the children more I would choose this school over any school in the world. I love it and I think you should sent your child here if they complain about their school.

My daughter transeferred this year to FBMS from a private school. Although she has only been at FBMS for a few months, I am greatly impressed! While the homework is not as intensive as it was in the private school, she still has work to do each night & I would definitely not consider this school 'easy.' The principal & vice principal appear to be very involved with the kids and are very open to receiving feedback. Guidance counselors are also readily available and involved. Most of my child's teachers are excellent--as good or better than at the private school. The downside: kids are middle-schoolers and have the same issues (peer pressure, 'cussing' etc) that the kids in private schools deal with. Overall, I am very, very happy we chose FBMS for our child!

Very mellow student body. Unpretentious, nonmaterialistic students. However, the trade-off for a safe and mellow environment is that the school is rather deficient in true intellectualism in terms of classes and workload ('easy' would be most applicable).
