My oldest son when to Cypress and had a fantastic experience. He is presently in a very high end math/science program at one of the top universities in the country where he says Cypress gave him the tools to succeed at a very high level. The staff, faculty and principal are all excellent. Having raised four children, the principal is the most involved principal of any I have seen. She is a gem of a person who cares for her school and every student. I am still amazed how she seems to know every students name without hesitation!
I'm reviewing because of the question of the day which is How Important is A Principal to A School? This school could be great but the Principal is a non entity. She is very uninvolved save for a few annual events. Most of the students wouldn't know her if they ran into her at the grocery store. Some of the teacher have great dedication and ideas but they are not encouraged by the principal. In fact just the oposite. I feel a change of administration would really help this school.
This school is amazing and I loved it!!!! I highly recommend it to everyone! No matter what you like to do, Cypress is the place for you!
My daughter had very dedicated teachers when she was a student there. She was inspired to reach far because her left and right brain received stimulation, not just the left brain as is often done in public education environments.
My daughter is now in her senior year and has loved every minute at Cypress. She is in the vocal program and has felt encouraged and nurtured every step of the way.
I Love This School! My Soon Attends As A Sophomore And Is Very Active On Their Baseball Team And Even With His Busy Schedule, His Teachers Are Very Understanding And Allow Him Time When He's Late with His Work. The Enviornment Is Very Learning Focused And The Other Students Are All Friendly. Cliques Aren't An Issue At All Here. Its By Far The Best!
I recently graduated from Cypress Lake High School and truly had the best High School experience i could have asked for, you as the student decide how much you would like to get out of it. Friendly atmosphere, passionate staff and loads of ways to get involved. Wouldn't go anywhere else!
It is important as a student to go to a school that you feel comfortable in and that is not judgmental. I feel that people are more accepting here, and there are so many different types of students that the norm is not normal. I am in the Visual Arts program and the environment is great. The teachers are excellent instructors and I am lucky to have chosen this school.
I really like Cypress Lake High school. It has a really nice atmosphere. Most of the cliques aren't ironclad, and people get along no matter what group they belong to. Whether you are in the Center or not, you are treated the same by the teachers and the students around you. Most of the teachers are actually dedicated to teaching the students what they have to learn. Overall, it is a really good school with a great environment, and I would recommend this school to anyone.
Cypress Lake High School is truly a wonderful school. It is on top of acedemics, has the best attendence record in Lee County and cares about nothing more than making sure that their students succeed. The atmosphere is unique, for it's students are unique. The student population is made up of so many differernt ethnic backgrounds. The teachers are unique, for they care about the students succeeding. Extracurricular actitivites are endless, our motto is for students to get involved. Graduation time at Cypress Lake is a very tearful and emotional time, for both the students and the teachers. I have been with Mrs. Perkins for her four years here and I must say that she is one of the best principles in Lee County. She trusts her students. This is her life and she gives everything towards it. Cypress Lake is the high school to choose.
The atmosphere is very demoralizing. There are other schools in this area that have great administrators. Fort Myers High is recommended.
I really like going to Cypress, even though I am not in the arts program. It does seem like the arts kids get preferential treatment. They can be excused from class to go work on a project in the arts program and that's not right. I have had some great teachers here. The best teachers have been Mr. Kuli for english and Mr. Johnson for history. Mr. Johnson isn't here anymore, but Mr. Kuli is. If you are looking at Cypress for school choice, it is a good place.
This school not as academically challenging as IB But variety of art programs and great teachers makes up for it.
I really like this school. Overall great teachers, students, academics, and everything. Great school.
My son has been here for three years now and is doing okay; not great. The first two years, the teachers in FCAT subject classes only taught how to pass the FCAT. Yet the FCAT doesn't prepare you for college one iota. The English program here is very disappointing. Something has also happened with Ms. Perkins, the principal. Seems her attention this year is not on the kids or academics the way it was when she first came on board. We liked her the way she was prior to this year.
The Cypress Lake Center for the Arts is the only thing keeping it alive coinsiding to a few small sports programs. The teachers as a whole could improve. All I can hope for is the music program to improve and some higher scores from the school on SATs the FCAT and other standard tests.
