used to go to this school when it all seemed bad. now it looks alot better with the new staff involved what a change
The administration focus's WAY to much on things that don't matter, and not nearly enough on the bigger problems. Though, the "gangs" are non-existent, the students believe they are and graffiti bathroom walls and desks. This has become a major problem. Administration decides to crack down the last few weeks of school and seem to target the kids who are doing the right thing, instead of starting to get rid of the real problems in the beginning. The teachers are great, but administration needs to step up.
My son loves this school, he is always happy when he comes home an i heard his Pre (AP) classes are amazing and they challenge his abilities

this school is pretty good the Pre-AP lets students work to their abilities and challenges them!

I'm sorry for all the students who has to go to this wrenched school. I am in 7th grade and in my 2 years of receiving education from them i would say its not worth it. To all those people who are reading this BOONE MIDDLE IS NOT A GOOD SCHOOL. My whole life i have been in the best schools and an A+ student in honors but this school i am disappointed that i have to put this on my collage list. Many people would say NOT to leave a bad comment about them but in fact you should. OK this school will forever receive horrible comments about Boone. Now it is nonsense that there are 'gangs' because there aren't just a REALLY BAD SCHOOL.

This school is horrible. The staff and administration do NOTHING about ANYTHING. I've been getting harrassed by a group of girls every day since the beginning of 6th grade, and nobody has done ANYTHING. I would strongly recommend NOT sending your child to this school.

this school is not the best. They seperate the guys and girls everywhere besides in the classrooms.
over all I give the school and its staff an excellent review due to any problem that accrues the staff handles it in a prompt and professional way and they inform the parents right a way my child goes to this school from the 6th and now in the 8th and I would not change it Mrs. D.Morales

My daughter loves this school! It's her first year there and even tho there has been issues with other children they have been dealt with in a great manner! The assistant principal is great with making sure everything is dealt with right away!! The only thing i can say negative is i think they stress to much with dress code.
—Submitted by a parent
The only think thats fun of it is when you can dress out. Dress Code is not the most important thing, they think it is. The Guidance Counselor doesn't even help you.

I'm a former studen from Boon Middle School, and when I see people leaving these negative comments, I ask myself if they really know whats going on. When i went to BMS there was a program called BMAAC, really great to be honest. it was almost like an ap program. The teachers are benevolent and do take some of their own time to help out their students with their problems and needs. Students saying teachers dont have the time to help them is some sort of lie in my opinion. Of course they might not be able to help you the same day but if you schedule something out with your teacher(s) they would be glad to assist you. Commen things i've heard about is BMS having gangs. If there were any gangs, the school would have a bad reputation but it doesn't. Eventually this school will be an A school.

I am honest in saying that I believe BMS is a good school. BMS does face challenges many schools do not such as high ESE and ESOL populations but most of the negative comments on this site are unfounded. Parents are complaining about a dress code that is county mandated, clear backpacks that are intended for safety, and a lack of opportunities for parents to be involved. If the parents of Boone would be more involved in a positive, constructive way I don't see any reason for BMS to not recieve an A rating. Boone is not dangerous. We have some 'troubled' students but we can't control what they do outside the school and we can't get rid of students because of what we think they might do. The teachers are competent and they care, for all students, if we didn't we would choose an easier environment to teach in.

Im A student at boone. I'm now in 8th grade, and I've spent 1 and a half years here. This school changed alot when Nancy Leonard, our principal; took charge. She was very strict at first, but i knew she was doing it for us. The teachers are extremely nice and understanding, and they help everyone. Unfortunately, though; the other countys are ahead in regards to the school curiculum. I moved to Osceola for 4 months and went to school there. During that time, They were finishing Pre-Algebra, while at Boone we were just starting it. Also, Advanced Placement (AP) classes are phenomenal. They Challenge me in every way and I'm getting High school credits at the same time. This is a great school, with a very safe enviornment, and also a Gang-free one. So dont listen to complaints from these ignorant parents. Most likely, they havent even been here.

We moved from Orange to Polk County with only 2 months left of the school year. My children did not have any complaints about Boone and quite honestly their grades improved. I like the structure of the classes, odds & evens. I like the uniform code. The problem with the school is not the school, as other parents state. Kids are kids and what our children learn starts at home. Growing up is hard, peer pressure is harder but laying blame on the fact that there are gangs at school is because of the school...well, that's just not right. I believe that every teacher, administrator, counselor is there for the benefit of our children. It's up to us as parents to monitor our children and know what activities (good and bad) they're involved in. I honestly believe there needs to be MORE parent involvement at home AND at school.

I have 2 NEW students there. My kids actually know the gang names and colors now. That is SO sad. There are fights, gangs, the lunches are horrible. No sports programs and the uniforms are a joke. Worry about the important things like education, not uniforms, especially for a public school. I WILL be moving out of Polk county because of the poor school systems. The charter schools are all booked, you have to go on a waiting list, it's not worth my childrens safety to stay and wait for a charter.

I am a student at Boone. It's a great school even though we have to wear uniforms. I have been going here for 2 years I am in the 7th grade. All the teachers and students are awsome and extrememly nice. We actually do learn because out teachers push us to succeed. I can't imagine why a parent would write such a thing about a wonderful school. There are not gangs at our school, it's just a bluff.

Trust me Boone isn't bad. The principal is very cool, and the students are amazing.Sure some of them can be bad at times, but everyone there is altogether pretty nice! There is lots of culture in the school.Pretty good uniforms to me,and there are lots of talented kids in the school. I've been in Boone for 3 years now I'm in 8th grade. I have seen so much over the years, too. Its not full of crime-its just like any other school! No matter what you do violence and conflict will always be there. And some of the kids fail because they fail to pay attention. The school is strict, and teachers do what they can to help us!
