I am so disappointed at this school. My child is in 2nd grade and ever since kindergarten, he gets heartbroken every year because his teachers leave in the middle of the year. Last year in first grade, it was a mess! The two pregnant teachers left for maternity leave and never returned but were asked to teach a different class. This year, I have asked his reading teacher for resources online and she will never give me any and she gives pointless spelling homework that I do not feel is preparing him for the FCAT next year. She also left for maternity leave and has not returned! He had 5 teachers this year in reading! This is the most important subject, especially right before 3rd grade. I will go to the media if my child fails and repeats the grade because of this! His math teacher is the only reason why I have kept my son there because she has taught him so much and he loves her. I do not want to put my son through it again by taking him away from a teacher he loves. I read the good comments about this school and also noticed that there were so many on May 3rd. I wonder how much they paid someone to write those comments because I do not believe them!
I use to work at that school and it is not the teachers. They genuinely care about their students. It is the Administration team. They treat their staff and teachers horribly and everyone is so scared of losing their jobs that they do not speak up. This is why having unions are so important. Teachers need to feel appreciated in order to be effective in a classroom. The teachers and students work, work, work and get nothing in return. This is why education should have never turned into a business. They shouldn't go hand in hand.
Bad school with bad teachers covering subjects they don t really know. There is very bad supervision on kids during brakes, this leads to issues between the kids. Then, they are reprimanded and even suspended when the teachers, and security should be the ones suspended for lack of leadership and control.
As an 8th grade student of YCCS I can assure you that this school is this best for miles around. In comparison to other schools YCCS offers smaller classes with more dedicated teachers. YCCS makes classes fun while also making sure their students learn as much as possible. The staff (espescially Mr. H) is very student-freindly and are very easy to talk to when there are any problems. I am definetely excited to be going to the new school opening up in August and cannot wait to spend 4 more years under such great guidance.
As a 7th grade student my experience at this school has been amazing. I have been in this school since I was in 4th grade. My teachers have been very helpful to me. Like Mr. Martinez, he has helped me in my math and reading skills. Knowing that I have failed a grade, he has not given up on me. Another teacher that has hepled me is Ms. Pascal. She has taught me not to be so shy and more outgoing. She may just be a Drama teacher but she has taught me life skills that I will never forget. I think the new school will be even more extraordinary than any other schools. Especially under Mr. H's guidance.
YCCS is a wonderful school. After being here for 5 years, I can attribute most of my professional growth to this school. YCCS is very dedicated to student learning and achievement. They take great responsibility and pride in educating the students. Our school is successful because of our highly qualified teachers and I am so excited that YCCS will continue its legacy with the opening up of a new school.
This school has helped my children so much. Their grades have improved and the teachers show true dedication and commitment to their students.
The teachers and the faculty are fully committed to helping students reach their highest potential. In fact, Youth Co-Op has received an A+ for student's academic achievement for 9 years and a row and counting...
As a staff member here at Youth Co-Op Charter School for the past 8 years, I have seen that we have great staff and students. Everyone is dedicated and motivated to the success of our students.
I have been a staff in this school for several years. I am very happy and proud of our coming new school. For many years parents have ask us to add high school grades and finally we can offer this to our community.
