Both of my children have been going to this school for 3 years. (the youngest for 2) I am being kind by giving this school a 2. The ONLY reason I am doing so is because there have been 2 great teachers involved with my daughter last year. I have FINALLY been able to get a meeting with my daughter's teachers after numerous requests of both letters, e-mail, and showing up to the office. (if you are lucky they will acknowlege you). I finally wrote directly to the principle and got some results. I believe that many of the issues, unfortunately, are due to the lack of resources available for a lower income area. It is the way it is in this country. It is sad. I am sorry to say I find the school very unorganized and lacking good leadership. The principle, Mr Tagle, is a kind person who listens and trys to help but he can only do so much. If it wasn't for my situation I would have RUN away from this school and town a LONG time ago.

I just want to say that if you have any problems at all, or seem to think that it's a problem; you can count on discussing it with Mr. Diaz, the Principal. He is very helpful and assists you with the problems. You can say he is an action type of Principal, not the common 'I will see what I can do' type of Principal. It was a pleasure of him as a Principal last year.

My child just finished kindergaden at Ben Sheppard this year. I find the teachers at the school have done a great job. My daughter finished the school year reading and writing in two languages (thanks to a bilingual program they have)and solving simple math problems. The school communicates with the parents and the teachers genuinely care about their students. I am very satisfied with the school and the academic progress of my child.

I consider Ben Sheppard to be an excellent school! The teachers and school counselors have worked diligently with both my son and I to identify and continue to help overcome his learning disabilities. In a world like the one we live in today where overcrowding of our children s class rooms and violence amongst themselves has become a major concern, it is nice and encouraging to see that schools like Ben Sheppard have not lost the touch of being educators instead of prison wardens! This school is highly recommended for any parent interested in truly educating their child as opposed to just having a place to keep them during working hours with a little education built in.

My five year old daughter just started kindergarden at Ben Sheppard I recomend this school because they show your child to be independent. The teachers take the time to talk to the parents and really get to know them. That means a lot to me. Not to mention there teaching skills are great specially since they have the homework listd in spanish and english to envolve the parents with the students learning skills
