I am in the honors program with the highest 7th graders and all the teachers are exceptionally great. I have heard bad reviews of the teachers for the lower students at apollo. Like for example Ms. Gomez (6th science) and others. These types of teachers do not teach but just sit around expecting students to do things on their own. I've had Ms. Dworzan for my 2nd year now and she is great! Fight to get into her class. All i can say is the higher you are in the program the better teachers you will have. The environment is great but the cafeteria needs cleaning policies and more food restrictions as students have fallen ill to the food in the past years. Otherwise great school overall!

I have been in Apollo since 6th grade (currently in eighth) and I rate it above average. There are good and bad teachers there, For example, The only teachers i had that i have or had problems with are the honors Algebra teacher, the Spanish teacher, and the gym teacher. Other than that, i dot n't know about any other teachers, Since im in gifted programs and STEM, but ive heard good and bad about the other teams teachers. I recommend this school if you can stand up for yourself against the bad kids and somewhat hard teachers if your not in Gifted

As a parent I have some concerns about my children attending this school I have one child who graduated this year another one going to the 7th grade and a third child that might be attending 6th grade at Apollo Middle. My soon to be entering into 7th grade child has always been consistent with excellent, but his math grades have dropped drastically at Apollo Middle Gem program the math teacher that they claim was so good had terrible communication skills and in the end she left.Didn't even finish out the school year with the students. They also changed the kids teachers more than once which had me even more concerned. I think some of the teachers at this school whom are given more responsibility than they can handle should not have the responsibility at all if they're in the classroom teaching let them focus on just that because it can from my experience be a bit overwhelming and my child's grades suffered!! I don't think I want to risk my 3rd child not continue on his road to success because of Apollo Middle. Not an A school to me but a C..

As a student just entering middle I would have to say the school is great. Mr.Zimmermann-finance-he is very watchful to help students with money. Mrs.Gomez-science/aeronautics-she is very hands on with us. Mrs.Beeber-world hist-honest and won't stop until she has proved a point. Mrs.Hsu-math-tough yet helpful she puts everyone up for a challenge. Mrs.Brown-language-rigor but will help you to understand everything. This is my schedule. School is nice and on top of everything for all students and teachers. All teachers have discipline but will help to make sure everyone understands. A+ SCHOOL

Apollo Middle School dedicated its new, Daniel Torres and Greg Ashley 'STEM' in the Gardens Learning Center- Powered by State Farm, on Wednesday, July 24th. When students return to Apollo on August 19th, they will be welcomed by a functioning garden including herbs, fruits and vegetables, a butterfly garden, life-sized chessboard, 20 new laptop computers and a technology cart, and a fully equipped botany lab. This Common Core learning environment was funded through a grant provided by State Farm, and will operate to serve students during and outside of school hours. Designed to support the school's STEM magnet curriculum, the Learning Center will revolutionize learning and introduce students to skill sets that will serve them in the future. Students will explore horticulture, botany and life sciences, critical thinking, mathematical concepts and complete laboratory experiments. School functions will also be facilitated throughout the year to ensure the entire Apollo community is able to appreciate and benefit from this fantastic new addition to Apollo. The sky is truly the limit, and the staff of Apollo Middle can't wait to use the Learning Center to help their students blast off!

We were excited to send our son to the STEM program due to their philosophy of hands-on science education. However, by her own admission, the sixth grade science teacher does not actually teach the students nor does she do labs with them. She gives the students packets to read and expects them to complete the packets on their own. I have never met a teacher who makes no attempt to teach before. She is the worst teacher I have ever met, and her attitude is viscous and malicious. It was obvious the other teachers in the room were embarrassed about her and for her. I would not recommended wasting your time to send your children to the STEM program.

I cannot say enough about this school. My son is having the best academic year yet and for the first time, just achieved straight A's. The teachers are wonderful on his team, every single one of them. My son is in the ESE program for language and Ms. Crawford and Ms. McCauley are very focused on him, although there are so many children in the program. They go over and above what they are typically required to do. My son likes school and is challenged by the work but far from overwhelmed. Apollo is a perfect fit for our family and the aftercare program is also wonderful. He finishes all of his homework in school so there is time to enjoy life at home after school. Looking forward to another great year next year!

It is understood that teachers have the right to set a line of respect with the students, especially when children don't pay mind to their academics. However my son attends the school and becuse he is not such a nerd and might not love school as many others, the teachers tend to always hit him where it hurts, they don't encourage him to make it better, instead they put him down in front of others, they lack on staff to prevent the fights, then they want to suspend your kid...Where's the education? you can't just send a kid home for a period of time to do nothing..to my understanding school is to teach the kids and disipline, atleast that't how I was taught. Over all the school is average, they only look more towards the kids in the advance classes,as they are the ones to maintain the school with a good rating and they forget about the ones that require the help.

Since there has not been a review on this school since 03/11, I would like to review this school. I am a parent of a student who just started 7th grade in the STEM program. It is only the beginning of the school year, and so far, I am very pleased with Apollo, the teachers, the administration and school environment. My son also loves the school and tells me each day how much he is enjoying his classes and teachers. He makes new friends daily and is happy to go to school each day and when he gets home. He came from a small montessori school where he attended 6th grade and had no problem transitioning to Apollo, even with the larger amount of students than the montessori school. Hesays the kids walk from class to class with each other so he never got lost in the halls or felt overwhelmed & was comfortable on the 1st day. All a parent wants for their child in a new school is for them to be happy, engaged and comfortable and my son is! I have made calls to the school to different administrators who have both called me back within a few hours. There is a wam feeling in the school and my family is very happy with Apollo and look forward to a fun and challenging school year.

So what if there are some bad attitudes from the teachers? Some students in this school give them a hard time!I think the teachers should get a better feedback! They work hard! Trust me,I know half of this schools teachers! They deserve a break every once in a while!I even struggle with some of these students' behavior! So,don't think of this school as a one ticket to a life of misery, think of it as a opportunity to learn from past mistakes this school has suffered from!

I was an 8th grander just this year, now im heading for high school. I spent two years at this school (7th & 8th). This school is.. Alright. Its not one of the worst. But i wouldn't recommend it too much. There's a fight like everyday. The teacher are okay. They are strict. If your going i definitely recommend going into the kee team. Its way better than the other teams, the teachers are better and people are nicer. I must warn that kids obviously bring drugs, and even sell them, but you don't see that in the kee team. Oh,and i don't know much about the new principal, the one i had this year left for west hollywood elementary (which is an amazing school btw) i love this school, and im definitely going to miss it a lot. Good luck to all(:<3 go rockets!

My son went to this school for one year, the principle was nice, the ladies in the reception area were always nice and considerate also was the school nurse. My son did think some of the teachers yelled too much and treated the students with lack of respect. Which I think too many teachers are getting away with too much these days...

not happy with the teachers invovlment with the students in the teaching process I do not feel the students are learning information that they will retain for future use or in the grades to come. My son is an average student and I believe I teach him more than some of the teachers at this school. I am not happy with most of the teachers my son has had at this school as far as the teaching that is going on here. I am sorry but I have encountered a lot better.

No fluff, no fancy words, no two ways about it, the teachers at Apollo are busting their backs to educate, nuture and parent the students in their school and the community. Look at their participation with the evening activities, such as parenting nights and check out the cars in the lot after 4:00PM as well as before 8:30 AM. This speaks more than words can. Apollo YOU ROCK!

My child is in 6th grade. They had a wonderful team of teachers who really seemed to care about my child and have amazing teaching skills, there team was Mrs. Markowitz, Mrs. Smalley, and Mrs. Chern. Mrs. Chern was my child's favorite, she was beyond an awesome teacher!

My child has special needs. Ms. Fordin has been working with him for a few years now. He is is 8th grade. You could not ask for a more compassionate and caring teacher than her. It was much better when the students were in a pull out program and left the main stream classroom for her help.

My daughter is in 8th grade. (with a younger sister attending next year.) She has had nothing but positive experiences at Apollo. She is in a fantastic program this year; AVID. I highly recommend this program; as it pushes college/career's 100%. The teachers give 100% above and beyond; AVID is a great progam.

apollo is an awesome school and I went there for 1 year and had an awesome time. All the rumors people have said about this school are not true. The school has great teachers and wonderful fundraisers. The neighborhood around has nothing to do with the school. Also if it were up to me Apollo would be an 'A' school.

This school does a awesome job with the fund allocated to it. The faculty treats the student with respect. Parents input is always appreciated and encourage. The neighborhood has nothing to do with the students ability or desire to learn. As in all situation their experience is according to their commitment. I have 5 children who have gone to this school. They had a choice to go to other schools because of their outstanding academics but I choose for them to come here to Apollo Middle.

The teachers don't care if the students do well or not, they're just trying to get through the day. Admistrators are tough but they have to be more like corrections officers than school administrators. If you can take your child elsewhere, do so.

There are alot of bad comments about this school and it's not all true. This schools changed. Yeah it has its issues like every school but its not that bad. There are teachers like ms. Hogan who are very strict but shes a great teacher. I went there for 6,7, and 8th grade and all 3 years were good.Apollo is a very good school in my opinion with nice teachers and staff. Academic programs are good and so are the extracurricular activities.

This school is not strong structured, teacher's are not as strong as they should be. I have read all other emails from parent's and everything they said about Apollo is true. Administration always avoided me from having a meeting with the principle. The pear pressure is very hard for the students, my daughter was afraid of the gangs of girls who threatened her. Apollo needs to recanize the students special needs or atention and do a better job!

Apollo Middle School is a graded a 'C' school but it can do better. My child did much better at Pines Middle School which is an 'A' school and they are neighbooring schools. Apollo Middle school needs to find out what differences there are between both schools and make changes that would benefit both students and the school.

I feel like teachers should be teachers not babyssitters. You should love teaching and helping kids.. if not one should find another line of work. I would like for it to be like it was when I was a kid. The love for teaching has disspeared in so many schools. The sad thing about is..... I feel the kids know this as well.

This school is an excellent educational institution. The teachers are excellent that I have had contact with. Each and every child is treated as an individual. When it comes to discipline, that is my duty to make sure my child behaves... the school notified me and I agreed that my child had consequences. Although every situation is unique-- I commend L.Arts teacher, Mr. Aron. and Ms. Nesbaum for everything. Mrs. Hogan was a great help, too. Send your kids here. It is a great place.

I would say that I have had many meetings with teachers and administrators at this school. The parent teacher communication is great. As for the administration well they tell you they are here for you and then push you off on someone else. On many occations my effort to reach people is all a leave a message system. Also this schools internal suspension is held at the boys and girls club called 'casa'. This alternative is horrible many other schools send their 'is' kids here including high schools. It's like teen jail they meet friends and continue to do that which got them in there in the first place to meet up with their friends. Parents beware if your child has special needs they will be overlooked. Effort is not top priority here.

My son attended Apollo Middle from 6 grade through the 2nd semester of 8th grade, then we moved to Texas, I'm totally in awe with the Allen ISD, My son's grades were D's & F's, He finished 8 grades with all A's & 1 B, the quality of the teachers and staff are totally devoted to the success and acheivements of the students. I understand that Floridians do not want their property taxes to increased, but I beleive the only way to help our South Florida schools would be with a property increase. I now pay triple what I did back home, but when it comes to my child's education it is worth it. By the way the freshmen center he will be attending this year only has 3 fights in the past 4 years. Once someone is involved in an actual fight, there are taken to jail and must pay a $300.00 fine to be released. Obviously it works !
