I feel very fortunate that my child is at Jacksonville Beach Elementary. I tried 3 years before my child was accepted through the lottery. All the teachers are outstanding and cohesive with the administration. Moral is high, students are diverse, and parents are active and involved. There are great school activities, programs, and field trips. There are extracurricular opportunities such as Lego League, Chorus, and the annual school play. The PTA is very active. The front office has excellent, consistent, caring staff in Ms. Hoch and Ms. Selby. The children seem happy and are learning at an accelerated rate.

This is our fourth year at JBE. We love love this school and the advanced circulum. It's evident how much further ahead in their education my daughters are when they see their cousins and other friends with similar aged children. My girls are leaps and bounds ahead. I love the staff. Any time we've ever had a concern it had been immediately addressed. This family lives JBE!!

My daughter has been attending Jax Beach since she was in kindergarten. I would say the teachers are happy to be there and enjoy their job for the most part. The principal is a familiar face and gets involved with almost every event it seems. The parents are involved as well. Last year's Literacy Night was standing room only, just to give you an idea. I love the fact they do not only "teach to the test" and have a wide array of curriculum and activities they complete throughout the year. The only drawback I can say about this school, is that it is very challenging and may not be a great fit for all children based on that fact. Overall five stars!

Both of my sons went to JBE. I have one at Stanton and one at JWJ now. JBE is an awesome school and we could not have been happier. The curriculum was rigorous but it helped prepare them for middle and high school. The staff was great and everyone knew my children by name. Small school feel with the benefits of a first class education. In my opinion, no other school, public or private measures up to Jax Beach.

My son has been at JBE k-5 and now it's time for him to head to middle school, which I am not looking forward to. Jax Beach is a fantastic school. The curriculum is challenging, especially 4th grade, but it's worth it. The teachers are great, always willing to meet with parents, and will email with you every day if you'd like. The BEST elementary school!!!

My daughter attended Jax Beach for 3 years and I could not have been happier. Unfortunately we had to transfer due to military orders and we miss it so much. There is not a school in the country that is better than JBE. She has had the most amazing teachers and the principal and staff are so wonderful. We are hoping to make it back in 2 yeard. Keeping my fingers crossed. A child is lucky to be a part of JBE.

This time last year I was just hoping that my son would win the magnet lottery and get into JBE. And with alot of hopes and prayers he did. I am ecstatic that he got in. So far, I have had nothing but great experiences and I love the advanced curriculum. He loves the school and his teachers are wonderful. I am looking forward to the next several years, what a great headstart to get in life.

The Teacher's, Assistant's, Principal, and Office Staff are friendly and welcoming. JBE allows and wants a lot of parent involvement and I love that:) JBE is not only an excellent school for my child's education but a wonderful environment for her to be in.

The things we love the most about Jacksonville Beach Elementary are: that it is challenging for the students that are able to move at a faster pace. The students get a well-rounded education, not just focusing on FL standards, but lots of additional enrichment, ie> science labs, enrichment labs of their choice (chess, outdoor games, drum line, board games, creative thinking activities, drama).Communication between the parents and teachers is phenomenal - with all teachers writing weekly newsletters, listing the specifics of what the students will be learning. Finally, parent involvement is incredibly high- allowing us to do so many activites and events for our students.

2nd grade parent. Great school. Please allow me to respond to a previous post: 'You get a private school education for free.' Private means good in terms of catering to prents and their kids. But, if you meant that you are getting better quality education in a private school as compared to public schools - not really. Private does not imply good quality. Just look at the two top high schools in the Jax area - The Bolles (private) and Stanton (public). Stanton is a much better school than Bolles according to any ranking you can possibly think of. Stanton is the only one school in the US ranking in the top 5 best Newsweek public schools in the US since 2000. Stanton has more students with merit scholarships per year than Bolles, and has more graduates in 'IVI league' universities than Bolles. No offense, but being rich does not imply being smart.

My two sons, currently 5th and 3rd grades have been at Jax Bch since Kindergarten. The school is fabulous. Hundreds of families entry the lottery hopen to be selected for a slot at JBE. You get a private school education for free. The parent involvement is off the charts. The PTA hosts many, many events thoughout the year. The resource classes are great and the teachers are really interested in the kids and champion their success. The extended day program for working parents is really nice. The new extra-curricular programs added in February cover a wide range of interests such as scrabble and word games, logic and brain games, soccer, golf, basketball, band, origami, Red Cross babysitting course, among others. The best part is that these are available at no cost to the student. They are staffed by teachers.

I have a child in 5th and one in 3rd. You can feel very lucky to have your child go to this elementary school, probably one of the 3 best in the state of Florida. Great parent involvement, great teachers, safe environment, great gifted program.

I would highly recommend the gifted program but do not know how a non-gifted child may react to being labeled 'academically talented' in a school full of gifted students. We are struggling through this concept with our second child who may not test at the gifted cut-off score. All-in-all, an excellent school with great parent support and enthusiastic administration and, of course, teachers!

My daughter, now in third grade, has attended Jax Beach since kindegarten. Overall her teachers have been excellent, both in terms of their training and the attention they pay to each child. As a magnet school, Jax Beach is able to offer more resource classes than a typical Duval County school, and these include PE, music, library, computer lab and art once per week. Other than the extended day program, there are few school sponsored afterschool activities or clubs, but there is a very active PTA which sponsors many events throughout the year (family Bingo night, Valentine's dance, career day, writing workshop, and many more). Last year the school put on a musical, with most of the staff volunteering additional time along with parents. Jax Beach is not only an academically excellent school, but a great overall learning environment.

Our two oldest children went to Jacksonville Beach Elementary. We were very satisfied every year with the teachers for our daughter. We were not satisfied every year with the teachers for our son. The school is small enough that the teachers should be able to assist the principal/school in the placement of each child for the next year. In other words, they should know each child well enough to know which teacher will be best for that child for the next grade.

I have been a parent at this school for 4 years. It has been a wonderful experience in every way. My children are both cared for and challenged. The teachers do an amazing job of getting the children to rise to the occasion. My kids have enjoyed the challenge and are inspired to do their best always. The school has wonderful resource teachers. The children have a rotating schedule of art, music, computers, P.E., writing, etc. The best part of the school, to me, is the families involved. These kids come from good parents who have prepared them for school both academically and socially. These kids take pride in good class work and good behavior. There seem to be none of the discipline problems that are associated with other schools. My kids have not come home with any new words or information that I have not wanted them to learn. A+

This is a fantastic school. The level of parent involvement is very high, and there are very few discipline problems. Overall, the kids are extremely bright and well-behaved. Like any school, Jax Beach has its good teachers and its 'not-so-good' teachers, but overall, the level of instruction is much better than most public schools. The FCAT scores at Jax Beach are way above average. In fact, Jax Beach is considered to have some of the highest FCAT scores in the state of Florida.

I would rate this school at a level 5. It is like having your child in private school without the extra money. I am thankful for all the teachers and principal, they are the best!

Profile Completeness

INTERMEDIATE

Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.
