I have 2 children in the school this year and I have been very highly disappointed. This is, by far, the worst school me kids have ever gone to. My 8th grader is in all advanced classes, yet only about 8 of the kids in there with her are actually supposed to be there. The other kids were placed there because "there was no other place to put them". So what is happening is that the kids not interested in learning are disrupting to the point that no one can learn anything and the whole class is 4 weeks behind. My daughter even told me of kids in her class cussing at each other, flipping over a desk, and throwing pencils at the sub, to which the sub could do nothing since disciplinary action by a substitute is apparently against school policy. Seriously?!? Not to mention all the fights and the loaded guns brought to school. My oldest will be in high school next year, but my younger daughter will absolutely be pulled from this school next year. Please do NOT send your kids here if you value their education or safety.

I went to JEB Stuart as a student in the 70s and my child goes there now. I've been disappointed with the communication between myself and my child's teachers.

I read a negative response from a parent of a sixth grader and just had to comment. I really cannot believe there are parents out there who actually expect the schools to be their child's parents. Seriously, to expect middle school teachers to walk with these kids is unbelievable. I am pretty sure that when their child plays outside their own parents aren't sitting on the porch "watching" them. All the negative comments are about how the school doesn't pay attention to their child. However, I didn't hear that parrent mention one thing about academics. THAT is what schools are for. Stop whining and start parenting. Let the teachers TEACH. Oh, by the way. there is more that YOUR child in each classroom. REALITY CHECK

I sent my son to Jeb Stuart, from magnet school, because he was not doing well at magnet. I had the hardest time getting the required assistance for my son when he went to a magnet school. It was always that no one had the time, meaning the staff, to provide the necessary assistance. As a result, my child failed one grade at magnet. Since sending my son to Jeb Stuart, he has been offered grade replacement assistance and has been placed in his right grade. I hear of all the negative comments about Jeb Stuart, but I am testifying to the positive. The staff have been pleasant and very cooperative to my family. My son enjoys going to Jeb Stuart and happy to have made the change.

Horrible school My son went here last year for 6th grade he was in all ap classes yet he really did not learn anything new this year that we did not teach him at home,he was assulted twice and I the parent was not called either time, had to hear it from my son,The principal mr bostic is a joke, all he does is make excuses and says "I run a tight ship" bunch of bs.The teachers and staff do not have an open door policy,we actually had one teacher call us during class time to ask if we didnt like her, really you have nothing more to care about then my personal opinion of you?,The safety of the students is not taken seriously,My childs bus was constantly late sometimes over an hour and still parents were nto called we thought our child was abducted once but no his bus was an hour and a half late but when I called the school they had no idea what was going on,Because of all these issues my son will be homeschooled this year Another thing I forgot to mention was at a fieldtrip at a theme park my son and other children were left unattended for hours while their chaperones (teachers) got fast passes so they could ride rides, If u love your children do not send them to this school!

I Would Like To Clear Some Things Up About My School J.E.B Stuart Middle. People Say That It Is A Bad School. I Used To Say That It Is A Bad School But, I Stopped. Because, When I Finally Went There For My 8th Grade School Year Things Were Good. The Teachers There Are Wonderful. They Help You Succeed. The Principal Cares About The Students And He Wants Every Single Kid To Have A Wonderful Time At J.E.B . The Students Are Overall Good But, There Might Be A Couple Of Kids That Might Be "Bad" , But Doesn't Every School Have A Few Of Those Students ? Also I Am In The Team- Up Program At The School And It Is Great Too. Currently I Am The Team Up President For 2010-2011 School Year. This Is Myself Speaking To Whoever Is Reading This. I Used To Be A "D" and "F" Student At My Old School But Here At J.E.B I Am Making All A's And One B. Almost Straight A's. This Is A Wonderful School and Make Sure "Not To Judge A Book By It's Cover."

I think the school is great but needs alittle improvement on student-teacher involvement. My child complains about the food, sounds like I am paying full price for substandard meals, the manager of the food service department needs to fix this issue.

I am very disappointed with this school, but I hear it is the same everywhere. Teachers not knowing how to enter grades properly, substitutes allowing the children to do whatever they please, and the constant fights in the school. It's time the adults take charge and discipline the kids, stop being afraid of these kids.

I have to agree. Fighting, bulling and it's ok to take other kids stuff even destory it. The teachers seem to care or are they putting on a face. I think there are more bad kids than good kids. Our children are not being watch over. I will home school until we move.

My son went to this school the first year we moved to Duval County. I was worried every day. I waited for calls from the school about my child fighting. I must say the student that wrote he wants to learn but the teachers treat them like they are dirt, because 'they think they don't want to learn' Please if you are a teacher understand these kids are saying teach us. I was very involved in my childs education and went to the school once or twice a week. I heard verbal abuse from the teachers every time. 'Yes the kids used it too but I expect more from the teachers. ' My child won't be going to Jebb this school year. I have to pay for an education he should have gotten last year. (send them somewhere else)

i used to go to jeb but i switched to darnell cookman and honestly i HATE this school we dont learn anything. plus every teacher on the osperys team needs to be fired (except mr. sowers the only class that i actually learned stuff in) im not trying to be mean or anything but the teachers need to stop playing around and teach their students. i wouldnt be suprised if everybody on the team in math got a 1 or a 2 because we NEVER learned stuff.

I have to agree with the student that wrote a review on Nov.11,2007. Changes need to be made. This school has been in trouble for the last 15 years that I know of. The students need to respect the teachers and vice versa. The parents need to be informed of any thing the student does not conform with. Seems as though this school does not reply to phone calls made by parents promptly or even at all.

This school is old and nasty. The teachers think that everyone is the same and thinks that we don't want an education. They treat use like dirty kids from the projects. The students fight alot. The teachers write us up for cursing but they do it all the time too. This school needs some serious up grades and changes. Just because we might be on welfare doesn't mean we don't want to make something of ourselves.

i go to this school, there are many things that could/should be better, but its still a learning enviorment, and we do get taught. although, there are many teahcres here that just sort of leave it up to us. we should be more noticed, as individuals and not just a class thats going to come and go. i still go here, and i have made it through. even though, the teachers and community could do more, such as lunch, security, and sometimes they need to lighten up. not all kids are bad. they need to be our friends. i actually went to a meeting, she said, that theyre not our friends, just our teachers. i didnt like that.

I have a child that went to JEB Stuart and I have to say that I was not impressed at all they have no discipline in the classrooms and they have no respect for our children and each other. That is the reason why I have pulled my child out and moved him to a magnet school. But I also have to say there are alot of kids there will little to no respect for adults or teachers so it makes you wonder where are the parents in this situation. The only way for a child to learn is to move them to advance class where the children want to learn.

I as a student think that some of JEB Stuart qualities were not as good as other school because I went to that school for the past 2 years 7th and 8th grade. I think that the way that the students were disciplined were really stupid such as dress code. Some girls had on really short skirts didnt get discipline because they were cool with the adults in the office while others were in in school suspension and i didnt think that was fair. I never had any problem at that school but when I atteneded there I seen things that was out of this world if I had to rate this school I would rate it a 4 and that is for pity all of my teachers were great but some of those others teachers you guys need to rethink who you hire.

I had a child that went to JEB Stuart from 6th grade until 8th grade. This school has some serious problems. I do think that maybe this school could make a turn around for the better if they listened more and teachers took the time to really teach. I have sat in classrooms and seen the way things are done and was not impressed by no means. Thank god we moved out of State.

My son was just registered for 6th grade last Tuesday. There was no contact with any of the Adminstrators, Guidance counselor nothing at all. They informed me of nothing, where to pick my child up, how much lunches are or even what time school starts and ends. I am not satisfied at all with the invisibility of all the staff!

I am a 9th grader that went to this school last year, and I have to say that it was not an enjoyable time. My particular teachers were good role models, but other teachers there were not at all the most polite or anything. Also a lot of students should have more disaplinary actions taken toward them and the school itself was not a great experience. Luckily I was only there for 8th grade and now I am in high school! Good luck finding out what's wrong with this school. God bless

My 7th grader attends JEB. This is a school that lacks discipline, focus, and dedication. For the most part teachers seem sub-par for the learning activities. Students are allowed to run amock. I am so saddened at the goings on at this school. We are moving thankfully - to Clay County school district within the month.

I have a 7th grader that went to this school last year and I was extremely unimpressed. There seemed to be a lack of guidance from the teachers and a great amount of disrespect coming from the students. My daughter was having to share books with other students due to the budget crunch; therefore, she wasn't able to bring books home to study. There was no real communication between faculty and parents and this caused big problems. The disciplinary problems going on is what scared me, and there needs to be much improvement done to make this a good school, as well as the overall appearance and condition of the school.

As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.
