Englewood High School

This school was terrible. I attended it for ONE day before telling my parents I could not go there. I could see my education going down the toilet. The math teacher (for 11th grade-algebra 2) was teaching material I remember learning in middle school. They teach to the test, and the tests test to the dumbest. I remember one teacher sitting at his desk the entire class period reading the news paper. The environment was scary, I was scared for my safety. This school is a holding cell for kids before they turn 18 and can be thrown into jail. The staff is (mostly-there was one counselor I was very thankful for) unhelpful and uncaring. I was greatly disappointed, because I was very excited for the "oh-so diverse" atmosphere I had heard about. Although it IS diverse, it is not worth ruining your future to go here, though I know there are not other options for some people, and for that I am sorry.

I graduated in 2003. Englewood was a great school back then, but I am sad to say that since I've graduated the feedback I've gotten about the school suggests that it has gone downhill very fast in the last 8 years. What a shame. We used to have great professors and the student body was pretty good. The administration was very caring for the students, though I've heard from current students that is no longer the case. There are still a few teachers and administrators from my era, but most have moved on and it seems like the ones they have been replaced with are horrendous.

I am very disappointed in the school. Some of the administration are in a power trip and don't care about the students' best interest. Some of the teachers are verbally abusive. Many of the students are violent and abusive as well. There are far too many fights. I have met a couple of great teachers, however, and I think the principal is trying. I feel sorry for the decent kids and teachers. I am trying to get my sons out!

This is the best school ever because kids are mean, I quit this school after repeating 9th grade.... kids always talked badly about me, teachers didnt even notice. some dude picked me up and put me in the class room. the teenagers who go to this school are whores, bullies, meanies. a teacher blamed something on me, but it was my desk neighbor who did it..... I think the teachers only pay attention to the work they give, not the students

i go to EHS , and its amazzzzing. i was the new to the school ( came in during the 2nd nine weeks) and at first it was so different. but after a week or so, learning where every thing was, i fel madly in love with this school. teachers are so nice, and students here can be mean, but overall are pretty nice. i love engle wood high. i cheer for EHS, and when we are at games, every one gets into it. we dont have the best sports... but we have the best sportsmanship. not to say that we need some more... team spirt? but if the kids at this school would just put in some love for the school, we could become the best.

this school is not a place where parents should send their children . we are behind in everything we do. some of the teachers treat students rude. school is a place where you are suppos to be happy to learn new things. but unlike Englewood you feel like you are in jail .....

I am currently a senior at Englewood HS and i am truly unmotivated. When i was a freshman our principle was envolved in our school and commended us on us doing well, he gave us small insenives. If we recived A's on our report cards that group of kids would go to Outback. We also had RAM X cards for meeting a certian criteria on our FCATS. IF we got this card we had free admission into all home activaties in sports, discounted tickets for dances and could leave class one min early. now we dont have any of that. and I feel, as well as others that our principle now just complains on what we do wrong. He is our leader, and we used to look up to our old Principle Mr.Kemp as a friend that we highly respected. Dr.Brenan is our voice, and it's painful. -BM

Englewood is a good school for students, but if your kids are straight A's or B's student. This school might not be for you. The pace of the education level is super low and it's a turn around school. Try other schools or magnets school like Paxon High School or Staton Prep High School. This school is unsatisfying.

I've taught at Englewood for 21 years. We've changed a lot since I started, but the emphasis is still on producing quality students who will make exceptional citizens. This school provided me with a very positive and fun learning environment.My teachers there were very dedicated to helping me especially Ms. Robinson-9th grade algebra my fav.teacher of all time.The principal Dr. Brenan seems to be alright.Safety and discipline here are good. Friends were really easy to make here and you seem to fit in easily.You also have the option to stay in the courtyard for lunch which rocks. At englewood you recieve swift repurcussions to your actions.
