Wonderful school.very involved PTA;very well stocked classrooms; lots of parent information about my child's progress & school events. Teachers are very caring & seem to have a strong bond between all the teachers who serve my child on her 'team'. I am impressed constantly by their caring towards not only my child but each other. All the specialists are very professional. My daughter especially loves the two art teachers who work very closely together on projects that are not just fun but multi-cultural, she loves to teach me the new cultures she learns about. Music is also very involved & well done. We love this school!

We have been very happy with this school. Our child's kindergarten teacher is wonderful with her students and is focused on early reading, having the children doing reading homework every evening. Our child is reading and writing after just a few months! She enjoys the music and art programs but hates P.E. because she says they just make her run laps every day and don't 'play any games any more'. Any time we have a problem, we are able to contact the teacher directly and talk to her about what happened without having to rely on a 5-year-old's story every time. The teachers seem to really care about the students and their learning, and that's all I can ask for right now.

My son has been attending this school for 4 years, thus far we are very pleased. My only complaint is they don't offer after school tutoring for math.

About the tests

In 2013-2014 Florida used the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT 2.0) to test students in grades 3 through 10 in reading, 3 through 8 in math, in grades 5 and 8 in science, and in grades 4, 8, and 10 in writing. The FCAT 2.0 is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Florida. The FCAT 2.0 has 5 achievement levels, with level 1 being the lowest and level 5 the highest. Florida considers scores of level 3 and higher to be on or above grade level. The goal is for all students to score at or above level 3.

About the tests

Florida uses School Grades to measure the overall performance of a school each year on the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT). Each school is assigned a letter grade (A-F) based on three criteria: the overall performance on the FCAT, the percentage of eligible students who took the test, and whether or not students made progress in reading and math. The School Grades are calculated by adding points earned from each of the performance criteria listed above.
