I attended MIHS and am proud of being a Mustang. The teachers were wonderful. The only complaint I would have would be Dean Casper, who brushed my problems with a bully as "girl problems." The guidance counselor Mrs. Campbell is amazing and so is her husband. The teachers really bend over backwards to help their students succeed.
it's a great school the teacher are very good and the students are great also.
Merritt island has been the greatest and i will never regret going anyy where else. :)
I attended MIHS in the early 1970's, an excellent school for students who were interested in learning & making something of themselves, it provided student involvement thru excellent school & community spirit, which continues today. My older son graduated in 2006, is at U of F, an honor student, continues to make excellent grades because of the AP and Honors classes at MIHS; participation in Math Bowls; FBLA; & other clubs. For 3 years he made it to Nationals in FBLA, placed 6th, 6th & 3rd in the country. My youngest son is at MIHS, an honor & gifted student who takes all high level classes, has made all A's since entering MIHS, is going to FBLA National competition next week. I believe the teachers, principal & club participation are excellent. Students can go however far they would like, all they have to do is show an interest. Go MIHS
MIHS is good high school that will be what you make of it. It has a strong honors and AP program and reasonable athletics programs. The music/drama/arts programs are well established and active. Parents tend to participate at the school. There have been few if any discipline issues in the years I have been here (6). The staff is helpful, friendly and very responsive to student and parent needs. I recommend getting to know your child s counselor and keeping in touch to ensure the right classes are taken, especially in the junior and senior years. I would give MIHS a 9 out of 10 rating.
I don't know why the principal rating is so low. I attended this school and Mr. Gary Shiffrin is the best principal a student could hope for. The teachers are fantastic, the parents are well-informed and involved. It's a great school.
MIHS has involved teachers with multiple extracurricular activities. They have excellant advanced placement classes for those students who are so inclined. Many of the students have parents who are NASA engineers etc., so there is an emphasis on the importance of education coming from home.
Very good extracurricluar and AP coursework offerings, safe campus, relatively strong teaching staff, mixed quality of administrators and guidance counselors.
I attended this school 5yrs ago. I thought it was great and had alot of parent involvment and extracurricular activities.
A good school with a wide variety of academic, athletic and extra cirricular activities available to students. Soon to be expanding and remodelling the science wing.
