I heard this school is great. It has great ratings and someone once told me that if they had a child/children they would bring them to this school.

This school is a family school and a community school. It is special from the administration to the parents to the students. The teachers here are a team and have great love and respect for what they do. Any child would be lucky to be in such an academic, fun, and beautiful school!!!

Far away from being an "A" school. There is more to be an "A" school than only having students writing "A" grades. Of course, there are a few good teachers working at South Pointe Elementary but even these teachers overwhelm their students with huge quantities of homework every day not realizing that some students are bored all year long. Students who can't follow are left behind without support or additional help. Students who follow with ease don't get progress related worksheets. The absolutely worst experience I've ever made was the encounter with the school management and office administration, a group of disorganized and unfriendly people not able to deal with criticism constructively. Instead of a friendly welcome they make you feel like an intruder entering "their" territory. They prefer chewing gums, eating and talking to each other and don't mind you standing and waiting at the office desk. Is this an appropriate behavior you may expect from an "A" school? At the end of this unbelievable but true experience I feel sorry for those children who can't move to another school. We took our child out of South Pointe Elementary and are looking forward to a great new school year.

South Pointe is Not a great school. If having teachers be overwelhemled with to many students and stressing the child with ridiculous amounts of HW and also teaching children that it is accepted to tattle tale on one another exc. means its a great school well then I strongly suggest homeschooling instead. Worst school I've ever had my child in. The office woman are the rudest group of people who have no personality and are very unwelcoming , I recommend just going into the office and see their friendly apporches as they continue to "work" as you stand there.

My son goes to this school and while it is a great school, it is also OVERCROWDED because there are so many children attending that are not in the school district. The school needs to weed these children out. My sons class is a double class with 34 children and 2 teachers. The school capacity is just over 400 students and the enrollment is over 600 students.

It is with great pride that I as a parent write this review. My daughter is heading to middle school next year and I feel accomplished of having provided a safe and enriched school in many areas. South Pointe offers the students human and society values through the IB program, the Art and Music classes add to the individual education of each student, these teachers work hand in hand with the curriculum, and the academic preparation each student receives is very closely monitored by administration, making sure each student is reaching their maximum potential. Everyone in the school works together with only one goal in mind, the benefit and well-being of each and every student. The students at South Pointe are very happy children. I feel blessed to have had my child attend her elementary years at South Pointe, and even happier to see her enjoy her school, teachers and the process of learning so much!

South Pointe is an amazing Elementary school with very involved parents, progrssive teachers and a very helpful administration. The additional of the IB program has brought an extra touch to the curriculum, adding a sense of morality and international mindfulness. They have an organic edible garden that is a great teaching and learning tool for the students to learn about healthier choices.

The best school my sons went to in Miami Beach. Teachers are warm, caring and the Principal has a open door policy which is very rare. As parent, I witness how students worked in a peaceful environment which gave them a sense of pride and joy. South Pointe has been an A school for many, many years as a result of excellent administrators, teachers and supporting staff. If I had to make a choice again for my grandchildren, I would choose South Pointe without hesitation. It will be my number one choice.

I personally recommend South Pointe, because it is a great school, with great teachers, great curriculum, great administration, safe enviroment for the students, the principal has an open door for all parents and students.

The school is overcrowded because about 30%-40% of the students are in the gifted program and most of the students in the gifted classes do not live in the school boundary. The administration is aware that they do not live in the boundary area, but they are allowed to attend the school and overcrowd it. The admnistration only enforces the boundary rules for students who are not in the gifted classes. Many of the students live in the Morningside, Midtown and Bay Harbor area, yet they are allowed to attend the school, completely against the district rules. A better sense of "community" would be established if students who actually live in the "community" attended the school.

Go South Pointe !! I have three children at this school. I could not be happier. The classes are small and the teachers are wonderful. They really get to know your kids and all of their needs. Since the school is on the smaller size, it has a family atmosphere. The PTA and FOSPE are great. The office and administrators are approachable and easy to talk to. I really feel like I am heard and that my opinion really counts with everyone there. Most important though is that my children are learning and are really happy. What else can a parent ask for .

We LOVE SPE! There are a few large classes, but b'c of the parent's vigorous fundraising to benefit ALL students in the school, the lg. classes have 2 teachers. My child has never been in a class over 20 students. I do tons of volunteer work in the school and have been in most classrooms. I vouch that all of the teachers are wonderful, committed, engaged, smart and loving. They all seem committed to the school and make it feel like a tight, neighborhood community. The principle is dynamic, smart, fully committed in the school and employs the BEST teachers. We love it here and our child's academics are outstanding and challenging. HW, enrichment and PTA are A++

my kids and I love this school. The teachers are so dynamic and enthusiastic that the kids actually love learning. The school also has an incredible afterschool program. So I don't have to drive my children to gymnastics or basketball. We are so lucky to have such a school in our backyard. I find that it is more challenging acedemically than any private school. go south pointe!

South Pointe is the best kept secret. I took tours at both public and private schools before choosing to place both of my kids at South Pointe. They are receiving an excellent education while also learning core values. The administration, teachers and PTA are what makes this school a true gem. I know I made the best decision when I chose this school for my kids.

Great school because it has all the programs our kids need. Its Principal and staff are highly involved, committed and accessible; always supervising everything going on around the school. All teachers are well prepared, loving and caring. PTA working hard all the time. I did search and visited this school before moving to the area and we can't be more satisfied. My kids have been attending SPE for three years now, it's impressive how much they have learn, not only as students but as human beings they have learnt important values like caring, thinker, balance, risk taker and other concepts, part of the IB program, they practice every day. After school care and enrichment program well organized. I wish South Pointe Elementary were a K-8 school.

My two boys go to this amazing school and I can assure you that it is the best school that there is in Miami Beach! I can't wait for my little girl to be big enough to attend :) All the teachers are excellent! They are really involved in the children's education, they go an extra mile for them and that really needs to be rewarded!! I believe the principal is strong and really knows what she is doing, great leadership! I hope this helps other parents looking for schools. I highly recommend it!!

That's add, that only few reviews are posted some goes back to 2003.Looks like all negative reviews are not posted and those are more than enough.Very unsatisfactory school, small classes maybe better, but you would have to know someone to get your child in.Other classes very crowded.Hard to believe, that they are so many children in south point district, where are they coming from? What part of Miami? And of course teachers and principal don't care.

This school has a good education level, but you must ask you why ? why this public is better than all the others on the beach! I am a mother of a child who was in kindergarten this year my child wasn t happy and always found homeworks : too easy .He is born after the 01of sept! just to remind you mothers, that a child born after this date, won t be admit in his "age class" and that is the point. This school respect the law very seriously. That means that the school is A+ and better(as the reviews said) not because of the excellent education but because of those kids who are advanced . A mature kid won t change to 1st grade , because of his date of birth!!!!?? This is unfair, don t you think ? A child must have the education he really needs and this the main role of the school!!! South pointe principal and teachers must stop hidding the truth. This School thinks more about the reputation than education... My child went in another school he is happy and the homeworks are more adapted for him !!! thank you to you mother who read this and please advice others moms about this........

We moved here on purpose for our children to attend South Pointe. It is like a small private school. It has been the best choice we have ever made. Some of the things the "reviewers" say are true. There are many out of district families, but they love the school and all the children with a passion I have rarely seen. The class sizes are NOT out of control. The administration has gone to great lengths to make sure the state standards are met. The larger classes have 2 full time teachers. Many classes this year have 18-20 students that is the TRUTH. I feel welcomed and even appreciated by teachers and staff and feel like we are a big family. The parents and teachers here are amazing, hard-working people who give time and money to make the school better. it is not perfect, but it is the BEST in Miami.

South Point is way too overcrowded. The student/teacher ratio is close to 31 to 1. The majority of classrooms are so overcrowded that children cannot move about without knocking over the books and belongings of other children. It is simply terrible. If you doubt what I am saying, check out the school site and take a look at the individual class photos.

I am mother of 3 children at SPE. We could not be happier. The top quality teachers are the best resource of the school: they are motivated, spiritual & on task! Strong parental involvement -- with 2 parental organizations -- really make a difference too. From great community events to teacher aides paid by the parent organizations. The after school Enrichment Program, ran by the PTA, is another strong reason SPE is so awesome. My kids are exposed to sports, music, cooking and a phenomenal organic edible garden which includes a fruit orchard with many types of bananas, papayas and pineapples.

South Pointe feels more like a private school than a public elementary school. It is such a nurturing, stimulating environment. This is our 4th year at South Pointe and it is only getting better. The administration, teachers and parents all truly compliment each other and work together to make every child's education the best it can be. A few classrooms do have higher student to teacher ratios but the Friends of South Pointe (FOSPE) has been established to raise funds to hire para-professionals to help out in those classrooms. The administration is very flexible and works with the PTA and parents to find solutions to issues that arise throughout the year. The after-school programs are phenomenal and they truly enrich the already fabulous education my children are receiving at South Pointe.

The school is overcrowded with kids who do not live in the School District and attend the school illegally. This provides for overcrowded classrooms where the teacher to student ratio is 26:1, and there are not enough funds to adequately run the school. Matching IRS addresses with the ones given to the school is the easiest way to solve the problem, or simply charge tuition to out of district parents.

I love this school so much. This is the best school ever. The teachers are great with the students, the students are willing to learn and they have the greatest, fun, educational activities I had ever seen. And ever since it became a IB school in 2009 it has become the best school in the Dade County. I had made a bunch of mistakes before and this time I feel like this time I've made the great choice for my daughter and son.

Our wonderfull Principal, teachers, office aids, volunters, had change our community and help to shape a new generation of childrens with love for learning and opening their world to new adventures. Why I love it?, because I see the change on every child, and if any are in need Our Principal goes out of her way get help for the kids, even if she has to do it her self. She is not afraid to ask, because it's all for the kids.

This was our first year at South Pointe This was our first year at South Pointe Elementary and I loved it. I moved my kids from private school to a public school and it was a great decision. One of my kids is going to gifted next year, the other will stay in the regular program and both are excellent. I highly recommend this school!

I am a parent of a gifted student that has been in the school from first grade and I can only say putting my child in this school has truly been a great decision. Now that he is going to middle school I think that he has all the tools to be be a SUCCESS. All the staff in the school make a joint effort to make this happen.

I couldn't be more pleased with the education my daughter is receiving at South Pointe. I like that there is a good music and art program, and that the PTA has really done an amazing job in improving the quality of teh aftercare program and is beautifying the school with murals, artowrk and new shade trees. This school is loved and it shows in the students' achievement levels.

This is a great school! My child has developed and learned much while here. Before comnig here she was at an accredited day care, had preschool and preK. It's relly important to take your children to preschool. The kids now days are pretty advanced. I can recall learning colors and shapes in kindergarten back in my days... even had nap time. One of the great things you can do to help prepare your child for the new grade they're going into, is to google for example 'what's taught in kindergarten, etc.' Play w/ it until you get what you need. I'm telling you, use this as a skelton during the summer and the school year can be an easier adjustment for your child. Back to the school, there's lots of differnt after school activities and there's a great after school care service.

I have a daughter in K, 1st & 2nd grade. We relocated to MB in Dec. from the West coast of Fl. I was hesitant at first to place my children into a 'public school'. Well, South Ponite Elementary is not your ordinary school. It is one of the best decisions I have made for my childrens education. My two older daughters have been on the Principals Honor Roll list twice now. Next year, two of my daughters are entering into the gifted program. The teachers are above and beyond. The staff at the school is wonderful with the children. And the Principal..... she is one of a kind! Not much gets by her or any of them for that matter. This is a A+ Public School! - South Point Parent

South Pointe Elementary is a great school. My oldest two kids attended there and my youngest is still in that school. I think overall the teachers are great, even though some like to take a lot of personal days and your kids keep getting substitutes from time to time.It is a small school so everybody knows everybody overthere. They have a gifted program that is very good too. The school works very hard to keep their 'A' grade, which it translates into heavy preparation for the FCAT tests. The school also provides tutoring for those kids that need extra help with math or reading. I think South Pointe is a very good choice in the dade county public schools system.

My kids loves the school. We have been in the school for about 8 years; we have seen the changes and the new programs to help students and parents with homework, reading,Fcat and so much more. Teachers are great. We have a show on Halloween where every class show their customs. Later on the week we have a party for parents and students. We have also Chess Class. Our teacher pick the kids from every class (best grades). This keep them motivated and is so much fun.

My child had been in this school for 5 years; I have the best opinion of the academic programs and the people who works there, they have arts programs, a wonderful after school program plus a very familiar and warm involvement in the child personal life. The teachers are great with ample experience , most of them bilingual English-Spanish and always in top of their students. I am really sad that my son has to change school now he is finishing 6th Grade.
