On a yearly basis my son complains claiming that nearly 50% of his teachers lack group control skills. They grade students basically for minimum efforts in class such as buying things from the teachers or buying basic school supplies for them. Students can get average to good grades with VERY MINIMAL EFFORTS on their behalf. They are not challenged intellectually and sadly over 50% of the students are so far behind in the minimum skills required to be at they should be at, that they drag the other percent down. Many claim to use email as a communication tool but many answer way over 2 days and even a week so by the time you get a response... the issue is beyond repair. Impossible to get sit downs with ALL teachers at once, even when escalating things to the principal. Only office that is efficient is the Registration Office. Mederos is Top Notch quality and seems to be the only one who knows how to run her area as per high standards. Had it not been because its so near graduation year, I'd move to another country!! HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED!

My daughter was in 9th grade for a few months at Coral Park High. She always attended the neighborhood school from 1st. grade and had never had such problems that she had in this school. The school has illegal substance problems and my 15 years old daughter is no longer in that school, but the students who provided those substances inside the school are still attending the school. The communication within school staff and parents is terrible. In obtaining an unsuitable and inapropriate transfer process, transfer, the completely out of time administration, made me waist one whole morning in the school. Besides, the school is clean, high security, and in good conditions.

THis scholl is not prepared for the Arts programs. A new building was built for that purpose and is not being used for the arts. Yes there are arts classes but no emplmentation of the ffeedback from the students as far as performances are encouraged. The Principal does not understand the Arts

I have gone thru this school two times with two of my boys already. The staff is excellent. The principal is outstanding, the parents can do more if they would go to meetings and get involved!. My personal experience has been great and now with the uniforms they all know each other, and all the schools have fights

Great curriculum! Students are challenged both academically and extra curriculum activities. One of the finest faculty around and a great administration.

I believe the school is very good academically. My child's teachers have been top notch, and very well qualified in their respective subjects. The principal and assistants have always made themselves readily available to address any concern. What I do find appalling is the lack of respect and consideration we, the parents, receive from the office staff. How many more parents have to pose this concern before it gets addressed?

This school is very overcrowded. As a parent, you must make it a priority to stay connected, otherwise you will be at a loss. The teachers seem to respond well to parents that are involved. I had the pleasure of being guided by my daughters counselor, which has made all the difference. Essentially, with all of the challenges, and there are plenty, it is what you make of it. Mandatory uniforms, have been a blessing!!

Great school! I have three stgudent in this school. Well qualify faculty and staff.Uniform has made a positive impact on school appearance. Great administration, run school like a clock based on the fact that has almost 4000 students. A gem which should be monitored, many will be speaking about this school.

Definitely overcrowded conditions that hinders the educational process. Communication between school and parents is vague and difficult to attain at times. There's a sense that the faculty and administration is overwhelmed with the number of students thereby causing a disservice to the students and communications with the home.

Not a great school. Fights every day, usually broken up by police. The teachers, on the other hand, are where this school really shines. The P.E. staff, espcially driver's ed, are great. As are most of the academic teachers.

So,far so good. A big change with uniform, the only thing is know they have to inforce it.The new building will give a little breathing room on the over crowed situation. In the education department we need more programs for after school and saturday classes not only for the Fcats, but for the Sat,which it has become a very hard test to pass.Sport department, some of them need to change coaches, they just are there for the money not for victory. Security, they need to step it up a little more on the after school situation. There are many children that stay and run around the halls, for sports, clubs, classes,or to bump around, and they must make sure that the security is there. On the issue of traffic, well Dade County needs to finish the construction, and ASAP.

I'm an Alumna from CP. They offer great extracurricular activities (e.g., band, chorus, great drama dept., football, etc.). From my own experience, I found the campus to be diverse and very middle-of-the-road. I did not encounter any gang or drug problems in my three years there. I did not notice an emphasis in parent involvement overall. The parents of kids in sports or band/ROTC were the most involved, but other parents weren't as involved. The professors teaching the higher level classes (e.g., AP) were of the highest quality. In summation, CP has a great band and ROTC program. Their drama program is also extraordinary.

It's incredible! I have never seen anything like this. There are so few responsible adults at the office. You could stand there for hours until a young girl/boy might come up to try to help you. I really don't want to generalize but my experience as a parent at Coral Park High School could be rated a D. My older daughters went to private school and I thought we were wrong for doing so. After comparing H.S. years, it was worth every penny spent. Too bad, we couldn't afford it for our youngest daughter. All we can do, it's pray and advise her as much as we can.

This school in my opinion is a Z rated school, a school in which nobody cares about students and about their concerns, you try to talk to the principal and instead he do not even bother in giving you an appointment but send you the treasurer to talk about something she doesnt even know, the counselors instead of giving advise should be advised because they do not how to help student and even worst they dont know how are they supposed to do their job, and how they are supposed to 'help' students, the staff of the school do not care if you graduate or not, if you ask for help they wont give it to you and if they do it they will misslead you and give you the wrong information because they dont know what are they supposed to do.

I really hoped that this year was going to be a good one. All of the good teachers have left. They have the worst staff in the office and needless to say the administration also. You can't get anyone there to help you out in anything. There is always teacher meetings but I really do not know for what if nothing has change. I guess that this principal is not going to do the job either. The only thing that the principal as well as his staff cares about is moving up from a C or I should say D school to an A or B, but the way they are doing it will not happen. They have even taken away the school spirit. What a shame. Wake up Coral Park administrators your school is going down.

Students are discriminated against daily if they are involved in activites the new principal doesn't like. I have never seen such inequalities. The new principal only wants to support the athletic teams (with the exception of girls basketball), and he rules with an iron fist, humiliating teachers and kids. The best teachers have left, been fired by the new principal, or given up in disgust. The ACCESS Center is to blame for putting this person as principal and taking away a good one. But of course as always no one will do anything about this, because the parents of the kids at Miami Coral Park sit on their hands letting bad people run over them. There should be more of an outcry at the things this new principal is doing to our good teachers! F minus rating, if that is possible!

This is definitely an F rated school. There is discrimination against handicapped students. ESE students are crammed into shared classrooms. This condition has been reported to the access center and to the new Superintendent.

This school is fallin apart inside as for the staff they are rude and not very helpful. Someone should go to the school and see what is going on. The teachers dont teach, the office is not helpful at all. This is a 'F' school in my eyes.

The school has gone downhill. It's the worst year ever. 90% of the teachers don't return phone calls. And they want parents to be involved. How could our kids have a good education when we can't even talk to teachers. Then the teachers say parents don't get involved. Cranberry was trying to turn the school around but again we lose another principal. The school in my opinion is rated a D.

My son went to Coral Park, he graduated in 2003 . He had excellent teachers at all levels specially in his senior year when he took all AP classes and graduated with 27 college credits. The school suffers due to the overcrowding, it was designed for 2300 students and it has 4300!!! It is very difficult to handle a situation like that. As a parent I felt welcomed for the last 2 years, there are a lot of teachers that really care, but there some bad apples that are still attached to the old administration and do not care about the outcome: provide an education to the our children. The school needs more support from the ACCESS Center, projects are on hold due to financial restrictions and this jeopardizes the total education of our kids. More computers are needed but the wiring system did not support the load of new computers and the retrofit project to change the wires is 2 years behind schedule. More parental involvement is needed. The new Princiapl needs to be open minded about parental involvement and try to keep the door open as much as possible. It is a great school, my son learned a lot from it.

My daughter is currently a senior (c/o 2004) and I haven't seen a school that is so un-organized. I can't even begin to say how many papers the office has lost of mine. The administration gives preference towards others. I'm just glad that my daughter is graduating. Not a good school to learn.
