I am a graduate from Miami Sunset Senior High and I can tell you that this is an amazing school! I have had nothing but great memories here! Teachers and staff are great, the school atmosphere in general makes you feel very comfortable. It has prepared me for college academically wise. If I can go back to my senior year I definitely would.

I'm so happy with my son's school, all of his teachers and couselors are great! Transition from middle school to high school has been very easy for him. He's learning alot and he's very happy with his school and freinds.

Happy to have both of my children attending Sunset Senior High. We are happy with the school curriculum and the attentiveness of all the subject teachers.

When I was there, it was a decent school. I had maybe three teachers who invested their time to help me be a better student and musician. I graduated in 2011 and there are some things about it that I do miss.

Posted July 15, 2013

The reviews that are saying that this is a great school were written as a JOKE by my peers. None of the recent graduates from Sunset are attending Ivy League schools. I graduated from this school this year (2013). I can honestly say that Sunset did absolutely nothing for me as a student. The faculty is a joke. Whenever I needed advice or help, nobody knew or cared to help. I was in all honors and AP classes, which were taught by the "best" teachers, but even many of them refused to answer simple questions or explain something to me that I didn't understand. The regular-level teachers do nothing but hand out worksheets. I can honestly only say I had 3 teachers that genuinely cared about me and my education. By the time you are a senior there is nobody to ask questions to about college or scholarships. I am headed to a very good university, full ride, but if it wasn't for me going out of my way and finding info about schools, scholarships, etc, I would have nothing, like many intelligent classmates I knew. Do your BEST to steer clear of this school. Almost ANY high school in Kendall is better than this. The only good thing I can say is that I felt safe on campus.

Simply the Best!! An amazing academic environment, and students are proud to be here. Just visit our website and see for yourself. We are the most spirited school in KendalI; It's a Knight Thing!! All of that plus scholarships to the best Universities too! Our AP program is the largest, so why would you even consider any other school?

It is a colleg prep school, with a remarkable staff!! The AP program is second to none. Sunset's graduates attend Harvard, Princeton, UF, and Stanford. The sports program is great. Football, Basketball and Softball scholarships are plentifull. Simply the best school in Miami!!

It's like a college prep school only better!!Every student can take Music, Art, Science, as well as Medical Science, Computer science, Video Production, Law and more. As electives, you can take whatever interests you so that you are sure of what you want to study in college. I received a well rounded education, and so can you!!! I left the reef to go here, it was the best decision of my life. I'm at Princeton now

An excellent institution that will prepare your child for college. High quality teachers and the students are disciplined and want to be here. Many children transfer here because the environment is friendly and your child will learn!! Always top ten in sports too!!

My daughter is a graduating senior, but i'm sorry to say she is not prepared properly for college. She has low scores in basic math, and is having to take remedial math in college, by the way she is an honor roll student. Does that make any sense to you. Unfortunately our schools teach kids how to pass fcat, and that is all that matters. I'm very disappointed in education my child received at sunset.

I think the best thing that has happened to this school is Dr. Cox. Her doors are always open for the parents and that is what schools need. The problems is not the school, teachers or staff it is that parents don't get involved. Because your child is in High school it's not over it is just starting.

I am a former student of miami sunset and I have to say that I absolutely hated school. the school was overcrowded. there was no involvement with teachers. the teachers seemed like they didnt care whether the students passed or failed which in return most of the students ended up failing. It did nothing for me to prepare for college. There was no school spirit from the students from the students because nobody enjoyed going to school.

Sunset is a great school. My child chose to go there instead of a magnet. He told me that it was the best desision of his life.

Miami Sunset is academically excellent!! We have more graduates that get into top rated colleges than any other Dade County school ( Yes.. even more than those magnet schools). The teachers prepare you for college not just for an Fcat. Some teachers have been here for more than 20 years!!

The School Grades are calculated by adding points earned from each of the performance criteria listed above.
