Southwest is an amazing school and the staff there is great although the school does have stupid rules like "no hoodies when it is cold" or "wear school pant during spirit week activities" or " no crocs" they do have a very disciplined program and are know to have an amazing attendance schedule due to the consequences if we are late like detention or Saturday school! We have an amazing athletics department at my school and to play sports you HAVE to have a minimum of a 2.0 gpa and you can't be late more than 26 times or be absent more than 10 which is a great way to keep us students in check. I believe southwest is an amazing school to have your child at because with the eagles, you're in good hands !

Some teachers are not effective on their students, especially with teaching and discipline. Others are of course but staff should be checking on their teachers, perhaps recieve comments from students and not walk into the class themselves. Whenever staff does that the teacher will naturally be better than they normally are to make sure they have a good show going. The lunch is terrible, I guess some people think its a "improvement," but i doubt any of these people eat like that at home, so why give us this honesrtly disgusting and greasy food? Sometimes i find hair in my food, and others my milk is spoiled. Im not sure thats an "improvement." The dress code is ridiculous. Sometimes as a "reward" they let us wear hoodies, or when its cold they let us wear them, its stupid for them to do that, and crocs? Come on. They're comfortable. I know you probably wear them at home. And also the bathrooms, dont we have janitors for a reason? Cause it really doesn't seems like they are doing their job.

The teachers in this school care very much for the students. I am constantly e-mailing my daughter's teachers regardings anything from grades, homework to absences and they consistently contact me in return. The principal of the school has a handle on everything that is going on and if you need to meet with him, there are no holds barred. I wholeheartedly disagree with the previous review. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS SCHOOL.

This school is terrible, the faculty dosen't care, the students are too worried about being cool and looking their best. And, not to mention the fact that this school is flithy and dilapidated, although there are a few teachers that really care for the students, but most of them are continuing to leave.

This is a great school, it was rated a B school and this year they are an A school. My oldest daughter graduated from there and my other daughter is there now. It is an excellent school.

My two daughters just started this High School and the office staff is so caring and helpful. They are all so awesome! The counselor is excellent and made my daughters feel so happy to be part of this school. They made the transition for my two daughters so easy and all the teachers are wonderful and are very involved with the students. The mandatory school uniforms were a little difficult at first because they were going to a High School which had no uniforms but they are now getting used to it. This is one of the best High Schools in Florida!

My Granddaughter goes to S.W. Miami High and she loves it and is doing great. But we would like to see the girls softball team be able to use the base ball field or get a field of their own. They have to run to Tropical Park for practice, it would be nice for them if the school would get behind them and offer the girls the same opportunities the boys have to be able to have a field at their school to play their games

Great school. Magnet program is awsome with a lot of benefits. Students are pretty good, but like at any school, it depends on who you hang out with. I recommend it!

Like all Public schools, I beleive SWHS has great opportunities for students. It is up to them to take advantages of it. I personally find a little hard to get in touch with teachers and counselors. Every time I call the school, I ended up in a voice mail. I would like to see an improvement in this issue. My older kids graduated from there and I always had the same problem. I also would like to see the uniform implemented. I don't understand why other High schools has it and we don't. It would improve students security in the school and it also will allow them to focus more in school.

The school isn't as bad as people portray it as, the level of acadmeic programs is great and the teachers are excellent. this year they have made great strides towards security and cleanliness.

This school has a horrible faculty who never listens to the students and could care less about what they are doing. The teachers that actually care in this school are a handful. The theatre program is excellent and extracuricular activities are not hard to find.

This school is greatly dissapointing. It is filthy and incredibly small. The student to teacher ratio is greater in students than the average Florida school. According to my children, the air-conditioning is always under repair and leaking. Also, there is not one year that this school is not on the news; and never for anything good. It also seems as if the choice of principles are getting poorer and poorer as the years progress.

I have been dissapointed with this school. My child was receiving some low grades(F).A letter that she has never received academically. There is no tutoring for the kids who need help. How do they expect them to get good grades! offcourse, tutoring is only offered during the very important, FCAT season.

The quality of academic is very recommended. In baseball, think twice before you make a decision to be in the team, the players they try there best, but remember you are as good as the coach and the coach really in my opinion does not have any willing to win.The level of parent is one of the most highest in high school. This school is a gem.As I student opinion this what I feel for SW.

This is a great school if you are an honorst student and someone really motivated. I went to honors and AP classes and found the teachers to be outstanding. I ended up going to Columbia University and some of my classmates also went to some Ivy League Schools. That said, I think that the best teachers are educating the best students. I think average or remedial students probably don't get all the attention they need. So if your child needs an extra push or extra attention, I'm not sure this is the place for him or her.
