Profile Completeness

INTERMEDIATE

Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

Bruhh good academics but we need cutie pies. Luma is standing alone as the hottest. Hate uniform policy. Hate IDs and hella long as line. Tc4 , la familia papa.

I am a freshman and I am pretty neutral about this school. There are good things and bad things. Since I am one of the gifted children, the teachers are better but some of the non gifted children get terrible teachers. Some of the better aspects of this school are that there are many activities after school although the school does not provide transportation for these activities. A lot of people at this school also smoke or do hookah which makes this school a disappointment. I like this school but the students that don't care much about their school life make this school worse. And another thing, there is a teacher at the school who just stands in the hallway criticizing everyone and sending then to CSI. I was coming back from PE and had not put my ID on yet and the teacher saw and sent me to CSI. I was not pleased. The teachers that I have are very friendly and they have a lot of experience. enough to know if you are having trouble or not. I hope my review has helped the community out there. I would want this school to improve by monitoring their students more and taking away the students' drugs and harmful objects.

The academics at this school are the best in the County. Test scores are through the roof and the students get into Ivy League colleges. This school has more silver Knight winners than any other school in Dade or Broward. If your child is serious about going to college, this is a great school. The staff is seasoned and amazing. Don't hesitate to check this school out for your child. The Principal, Ms. Baglos is incredible.

Horrible teaching staff. My daughter had 4 different math teachers in a course of a year! Their staff is impatient and seem to care nothing about the children and their education. I took her out of that school the following year!

Also, to add. The discipline at this school is unbelievable. Every day after school ask what the kids are doing? Smoking by the bus lanes. And No one cares. Every day when I go down the stairwells i smell marijuana. Kids get disciplined for the petty, small things like being 1 minute late to class and having to clean up trash instead of learning.

Some of the school office staff are rude when it comes to helping you out for anything that has got to do with your child and they are rude to the student also and it shouldn't be that way at all but it is happening and it is not right and I hope they are able to either counsel the office staff to be more courteous and professional or get people that really want to work with parents and students.

I was a good kid until i let krop get the best of me. Im sure their extra cirricular activities along with the gifted programs are great. But i wasnt apart of it nor was i ever reccomended by teachers or staff to join anything that might have helped me gain some interest in school. Maybe i was too focused on trying to be one of the 'cool kids'. I want to say more maybe help parents understand what their kids are going through but im just going to keep it short and say krop needs to work on student parent involvement and i dont mean waiting till the kid gets in trouble before it can happen

As a parent of two, I am proud that both my sons graduated from Krop. The teachers were all amazing. The athletic program was fabulous and has won the number 1 program in Dade County at least two or three times. The number of clubs students can participate in is incrediable. The school is over crowded and like as can be expected not all schools can accomidate all students. You can never please everyone. If your child is involved in school activities, sports, and is motivated they will surley succeed at Krop. Krop also has a very involved PTSA that does great things for the school. Check with them, they are an excellent resource for you. Good Luck

Krop is a very disorganized school, and it's administration lacks communication within it's staff. There are several good teachers, and the NJROTC program is amazing, with very involved instructors.

I am so dissapointed with this school. My Child is a freshman and in the gifted program. 3 out of her 6 teacher's hardly teach because of the two hour blockl. The kids have lots of free time to get in trouble. The grade book for the parent to view online is hardly ever updated and you should see some of the things they count as grades. We don't have another high school in the area that is any better, but to hear and see people raving about this school is presposterous. The office staff is very unfriendly and condescending. As a parent of a freshman student I am appalled at their lack of consideration and professionalism. If you want to meet or speak with the teachers, they don't return your calls and the students are treated for the most part like convicted felons.

I am a new parent and right now i'm doing a lot of observing! so far i like how the kids get a lot of exposure to many things! they have so many committees the kids can join and i like it because of the diversity in children! yes its very overcrowded but you have to ask yourself why and how are they able to stay and 'a' school when other schools say thats one of the reasons they're failing. The biggest problem i am having is trying to be involved the faculty n staff act as if they never have time and whenever i try to be involved or is concerned about something they act as if i'm bothering them. Sorry b ut my daughter not having a text book like everyone else or my her grades is 'our' problem not just hers!

I was part of the Visual and Performing Arts program, but overall the faculty there is great. They take an interest in the student's future and preparing them for college. I wouldn't have gotten such great scholarships if I hadn't gone to this school. I was supposed to go to Carol City Senior.

This has got to be the worst school I have ever dealt with. I come from a family of teachers and the attitdue of the administrators and teachers is disgraceful at the best of times. The administration has no regard for parents or the students. I personally have witnessed teachers and administrators berate students without a second thought. My son comes home everyday angry and frustrated. The school is terribly overcrowded and has two campuses and requires Freshman to switch between the two campuses, which can get very confusing for children just starting High School. Classes are so overcrowded and teachers don't have control over the classrooms. They don't teach, they yell, lecture and ignore students asking for clarification or help. We are moving just to get my son away from it. Stay away you'll regret it.

As a parent of 1 Krop Student and 1 Krop Graduate, I have to be grateful to the School for all their great work. I am sure there are flaws (nobody's perfect), but the results are what really count. My son applied to Harvard, Princeton, MIT, Duke & U. Penn, and was accepted to all of them.

As a parent of 2 graduates of Krop I can not be more satisfied with the outcome. They both graduated with honors and there was always the support of the staff, and of course like everything else in life there are always those exceptions! But overall, the school has plenty of extracuuricular activities and classes to chose from. Unfortunantely for those kids in the past it has been overcrowed but this coming year due to legislation the school will be no longer overcrowed and a new building for our students will be used. The Principal is a very caring indivdual for the children and parents and so are the AP's. ALthough some counslors are not adequate for some students my kids' counslors were great. I highly recommend Krop over any private high school in Dade or Broward.

Great school academically: plenty of choice of extracurricular activities and variety of class levels for every student (i.e. regular, honors, gifted, and AP). Sure, there s overcrowding, but the reason for it is because all of the students and their parents know it is the best school and try to get there by all means possible. As for strict security, well, how else are they suppose to control 4,000 students if not be strict?

As a graduate of Dr. Krop, I find it amusing that parents try to destroy the wonderful image and prestige Krop has brought so many. The truth is Krop really does prepare its students for college as best it can. It is up to the student to accept the this prepration or veer of course. No matter where you go students will always be faced with choices. It is not the schools fault for the negative things that are brought into schools, but the students and the parents that allow their children to get away with such misbehavior. The school is a great place for our children to learn how to strive for success in an enviorment that nutures education. Krop is the best pulic schools have to offer! If you want to be a good parent help your child strive for AP and honor classes...and make sure they play after school sports. -Krops Finest

The school is to desorganized.. Office, teachers, security and counselers... But what affects me the most a student.. Are the teachers and the security... The teachers bearly ever help you at all, most of them just waste the 2 hours talking about non-important facts and they never tell you what they really want you to do, they expect you to know it.... And the security/principal assistance are very bad, they treat us the students as if we were little deliquents showing no respect for us, and just yelling everytime they have a chance, and so for creating a heavy environment where no one has respect for the others.... This needs alot of improvemnet.. I just moved from texas and Im really disapointed on what Ive seen, in this school where its the best of miami dade...

Very good academics. Honors/AP classes are wonderful. I saw someone write about the extracurricular activities being limited because of the amount of students. You are way off. There are so many activities that even things that you wouldn't even think of being available are there. There is overcrowding, but that doesn't take anything away from your education. It makes the job harder for the teachers, not for the students. The students aren't the ones who are teaching the 25-30 people in each class. People do anything to come to this school; having an opportunity like this shouldn't be wasted. Take advantage of being in Krop.

I have to agree w/ some of the other comments. This is the second year that my son attends this high school and I have to tell you that I am not impress at all. The main office is not helpful at all; they have no respect for parents. The counselors are of very little help and the drugs are every where on campus. In May-06 my son was walking to the bus stop and one kid pulled a gun on him. I will not recommend the school to anybody but it's better than the alternative NMB, Norlan, Edison, or Miami High. I will-not recommend, Ifeelsorryforourkids. I'll recommend uniforms in the school and police presence in the back of the school to the 203er st bus stop.

If you can get past the rude main office staff your one step ahead of the game.If your child needs extra support and is not spec ed your out on a limb.It is easy for sharp and intelligent kids to have good teachers because the AP courses do not have trouble kids. The principal needs a reality check. The majority of the students are not AP or Gifted and they are also entitled to good teachers and good guidence. They focus on stupid rules instead of pushing kids to succeed. We parents can't be the only ones pushing. My child had some teachers who posted the work on the board and left the kids on their own.this is not teaching but baby sitting. The public schools in Florida need to work harder and class sizes smaller. My child was not a deliquent and dressed correctly to school, she was just an average student no one cared about.

Dr. Michael M. Krop is a wondeful high school. My kids are learning more then my sisters kids in north miami high. Some of the problems this school has is that its overcrowded. with more than 3000 students everyone wants to go to krop. But dont think of it as a disadvantage, this just means everyone wants to go to the best school in dade county. They have many programs to offer for example, there magnet program is dance and drama, also they offer many sports and winner of the miami herald academics award two years running.

As Krop is my first foray into the public system, I found the bureauocracy maddening but somehow I firmly believe that my child got a good education. The teachers were wonderful. The guidance system was deplorable but luckily our son knew how to guide through courses and we parents knew a lot about college guidance.

My daughter is currently attending in 10th Gr. Gifted. MKHS is a very good public school, but it is only as great as parent/child make it. Dress code could be better enforced-i.e. low-rise pants and cut-off tops are overlooked yet young girls wearing bermudas reaching down to the knee are turned away at the door??? Current students come from area private Jewish & Catholic schools as well as Highland Oaks. Overall, I recommend the school.

Most of my child's teachers have a PHD in the subject that they teach. There are no significant violent situations at the school.
