Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

I cant seem to find good schools in Broward, except Somerset Miramar Academy has great reviews and they are A Grade School, 9 out of 10. I recently enrolled my son at this school because we moved from Dade to Broward. its a great school however my son is not doing well, it's frustrating not sure if to transfer him to another school...He had all A's and B' in his previous school..I feel there are two many students per teacher and lack of student discipline. It makes it difficult to students to focus and learn.

Principal and administrative office staff Inaccessible Small, tiny classrooms without bathrooms, therefore Overcrowded In general the school lack in discipline, the students do almost wherever they want The smart kids are not encouraged and the bad kids take over the school

I would absolutely recommend this school to any parent. It's a small close knit school and the teachers and faculty not only recognize the children by face but the parents as well. I love that there's a great deal of parent involvement and parents/care takers are always welcomed. I am very grateful that my middle school and elementary school age kids were given the opportunity to attend Somerset Academy - Miramar

My son has attended Somerset Academy Miramar from the 6th grade, this is his second year in the school. Somerset Academy Miramar is an excellent school, under the positive leadership of the principal, the school is very organised. Parents are kept informed and made to feel very included. The teachers are ready on day one, with a strong curriculum that keeps my son challenged and intrigued. With a strong focus on character building and technology this school remains on a high level of excellence. Two thumbs up to a school that keeps rasing the bar!

My son has been attending attending Somerset Miramar since 1st grade, he's now in 5th grade and my daughter recently joined him. She is in kindergarten. I love this school not only because it's in walking distance from my house but more importantly they have a very strong curriculum. The teachers hit the ground running on day one, they are strict yet fair with every student. The principal, Mrs. Sadesky runs a very good administration and keeps the parents well informed. I really enjoy the volunteer opportunity because it allows the parents to be involved in so many different ways with their child's academic development.

The best thing about this school is that it's a small school. So staff can really be aware of things here.. My child has been in this school for several years which I have been lucky enough to have wonderful teachers through out those years.. They are good academically and my child has had very dedicated teachers. There are a few things they can fix but nothing that can discourage a parent from this good school.

My daughter has been going to this school since kindergarten and I plan to keep her there until she graduates because of convenience. I think some of the teachers do not have sufficient experience to deal with young children and overreact at times. My daughter came home once with a graded paper showing five because she talked. I am not sure if grade reduction is the right punishment but since it was one incident I did not make a complaint. Overall, I feel safe with security the school has and the curriculum is good.

Academically, this school rates beter than most public schools. The office staff was not helpful when inquiring about the school. The website needs more detailed information about the school. The application proccess is inefficient. They ask for too much paperwork just to through your hat in the ring for a wait list. They should take notes from Nova and pembroke pines charter. I was little disapointed that the elementary level didn't offer a music program. My kids have already been exposed to dance and music and far beyond anything they had to offer in this area. The somerset in Miami has a arts program for elementary kids. It's an OK school, just needs to evolve a bit to expose the kids to much more.

Coming from a private school it was a little different in the aspect of more personal-one on one with your teachers and staff. It took some getting used to especially on the first day of school when I was getting ready to walk my 2nd grader to class when we were greeted by a staff member who welcomed my son, but not me with.."hi there, you can say goodbye to mommy right here..(outside in the parking lot). Thrown back a bit, over the next couple of weeks I realized it was all about technology...if you had no e-mail you had no contact...I struggled with that for several months as I tried to contact the teacher via message @ front desk, or notes sent in his home/school folder. We finally got 2gether P/T conference where I voiced my concerns, got a direct #, and established communication and all is well! Kids secure!

Somerset Academy has been a wonderful experience for both our son and us, as parents. We appreciate the school's strong focus on academics as well as community service. Our son is in first grade and we are very happy with his work this year. Many of his improvements have been b/c of his teacher who is very in tune with each individual students' unique learning styles. We are looking forward to many years at Somerset Academy Miramar!

I have a my 3rd grade daughter at Somerset Academy Miramar. This is her third year here and as far as I can tell, her progress has been pretty amazing. I personally review the homework being sent home daily basis and it meets my expectations. The teachers are great. My daughter & I have great relationship in terms of communication. Trust me, my daughter would've told me by now if she was unhappy. The other kids don't seem to be too unruly. The only thing I would change about their policy would be in regards to the first day of school. You're not allowed to walk the kids to class. They must review that policy. This is why I grade it a 4 star vs a 5 star. I grade the school based on my daughter's feedback as well as my own. We both have to be happy. That's what counts.

The spirit at this school is awesome! I see that my children are excelling in all areas. I have had both my children enrolled at Somerset Academy in Miramar since the school opened. Yes, in the beginning it was rough but, this school has come a long way. If you choose to read the negative reviews please understand that was written when the school was first opened and you would be doing an injustice to your child not to investigate the pros and cons of this school. For my family, this school is perfect and I would never take my kids out of this school. I believe the staff is great. The teachers are amazing! I could ask for anything more. I LOVE THIS SCHOOL but, more importantly MY KIDS LOVE THIS SCHOOL!

I'm very please so far with the school. My daughter have attended this school since 2nd grade and I paln to let her finish her years there. The staff could be a little more pleasant towards the students. I haven't had a problem myself but I know of some parents who have. I must say that teachers must remember that most of them are parents themselves so treat each student as they would want a teacher to treat their own.

Overall I am quite pleased that my child attends Somerset Academy Miramar. She has been a student there since kindergarten and has excelled. Somerset's curriculum is advanced compred to regular public schools. My niece went to a regular public school befor coming to Somerset and it was quite obvious she was not received the same caliber of work that she needed to be at at her grade level. I wished that Somerset offered extra curricular activities that did not cost, but considering the economy I an undersrand why there is a fee. I don't like the way the first day of school is set up. The parents are not alloed to walk their child to their class (grade 2 & higher). I remember when I was in school it didn't matter the grade my parents were allowed walk me to my class. This is something the principal should reconsider

As a parent, my focus is to ensure that my children are getting the best education possible. School staff, management and overall school rating is also critical. Both of my children started SCM in Kindergarten. My son is now in the High School and my daughter is in 3rd grade. I absolutely love the school! They are organized, keep parents well informed and strive to a higher education and social skills. I highly recommend the SCM.

I am like the other parent very suprised with the negative comments made about this school. My daughter has attended since it opened. The principal runs a tight ship and keep the parents well informed. If you are one of those parents who don't like to be involved. Don't like helping you child with homework, or don't like to challege your child, then yes this school is not for you. My daughter has been on honor roll every year and this school inspires me to push my child to the best of her ability. I can't wait until my other child is old enough to attend. GO SOMERSET!

I can't believe the bad reviews found here, this school is simply the best, teachers do an EXCELLENT job, the communication between teachers and parents is excellent, on a daily basis through the journal, and also teachers' emails are available and they respond very fast, some people when I tell them about the grade of communication can't believe it, a lot of activities for kids, a lot of security, my kid is learning a lot. Is the school very exigent? Yes it is, and I love it, if you are looking for a regular school where every thing is average, please find another school. I'm not rich but for me is Ok to collaborate financially with the school and specially with the needs of my child class, is the best money I could expend because is for my child's future, this is a Charter school, part public, part private.

Horrible school! There are not enough bathrooms for the students and there are plenty of 'accidents'. I have seen this first hand while volunteering. The ac in the classrooms breaks down on a regular basis. The teachers are burdened with paperwork that should be done by office staff, cafeteria staff and accounting. Teacher turnover is very high. Several teachers have left already in the middle of the school year. What a nightmare of a school!

My daughter has attended this school since its opening and I could not be happier. I have absolutely no complaints about the school. The teachers are very invloved and do a great job and keeping the children interested in learning by providing out of the box assignments that challenge them and developer thier creativity while still achieving their ultimate goal which is learning. I can say that the administration among other thing does not tolerate bullying nor do they foster 'cliques' which can many times lead a child in the wrong direction. They also promote accountability which I have witnessed first hand. I have no clue how they could possibly be negatively reviewed by any parent. I take great pride in my daughters school and would recommend it to any parent looking for a great school for their child. My daughter is in their middle school.

We are extremely happy with this school. My daughter is in Kindergarten and we were having a hard time deciding on whether to do a private school or this charter school that is basically across the street. We could not be happier. My daughter was really not interested in learning during 3 and 4k, but what a change since starting at Somerset. The first month was tough but once she got into the rythym she took off. She is now reading at a first grade level. She excels in almost eveyr subject and the teacher communicates each day with each parent in their planners. Many of my friends and family members are surprised and also frustrated because they feel that the private schools their children attend may not be as advanced. Great job to the teachers at Somerset Miramar.

This is a terrible school. It is very poorly managed. All the classes have over 25 children in them and the teachers have no assistants at all. The communication between home and school is the worst. I am a very unhappy parent that will be pulling my children out as soon as I find a new school.
