i went to this school for less then a year. the school cop and principle watched me get beat up by 6 guys and let it happen.
Calling it a 'place of high achievement' doesn't make it so. Putting students who cannot read in an AP class and they receive an 'F' doesn't make them smarter, it makes them quit and cause trouble. The principal is never at school and doesn't listen to kids anyway. My sister graduated in 2005 and it was better then. I wish that I could transfer but I don't have a car.
I had high hopes when my son entered Evans in 2005. Changes were made and there was a caring administration and staff that knew my son and pushed him to do his best. My daughter entered Evans this year and the staff is so different. She needs help with reading but does well in math. Nothing is provided to help her in reading except during the reading class and that is just FCAT worksheets. Has any parent been able to talk with the principal? He is never there. That seems to be a problem and the secretary will not make appointment. We are looking at Agape or a transfer for next year.
Evans is a great school for students who are willing to ignore the distractions(drama) and work their buts off.Thats what I did and my GPA never went below a 3.7.There are also teachers who will go the extra mile for your success when you need them to do so.GO TROJANS!!!
As a parent, I feel that the school needs consistency. IThe school adminnistration and staff worked on the IB Program for the past 2 years and it was introduced to us last April, but there doesn't seem to be the same teachers in the program that we met. Is this what is going to continue? My husband and I met the principal last year and she called our home to encourage us to enroll our daughter in the program. When I asked about some of the promises that were made, no one will even respond this year. I have left several messages with the principal's secretary, but my calls are not returned. I have another child who will be in the 9th grade next year, but I don't even know where he will go. Does anyonoe at Evans have any answers?
evan's high is the best no matter what people may say because they have know idea how cool evans is
I think our school is improving greatly.
Evans High School is as a very good academic school. The new administration has really done a great job of introducing new academic programs such as Advanced Placement and IB.
As a new student at evans this year I can truly say that Evans is a great school (with the exception of certain students). Evans have an excellent IB Program and is nothing like the rumors peole say it to be.
Evans High has been called horrible and been put down constantly. People who have nevver been in the school judge it on what others say. As the qoute goes, 'When we ignore other people's ignorance, we find our own wisdom.' I believe those parents who view Evans as a 'bad' school, should learn to make thier own opinion. When walking on campus, it's a fairly calm campus, with a few students who feel as though they need to make a bad scene, but it's not as bad as people think. Heck, it's not even close to what people believe. Maynard Evans High school is a good school. Just check it out for yourself, before you judge based on the ignorance of others.
