Lake Gem is a good school some teachers are better than others. They are updating technology in the classrooms, which is a plus. I just wish there were more hands-on assignments within the classrooms. They do have some very passionate teachers. Others only teach the bear minimal or they teach to the FCAT test. There also needs to be more extracurricular activities for students to participate.

Lake Gem is truly a school of excellence. Our principal Ms. Patty Harelson is a strong leader that knows how to meet the needs of all students and makes sure that the teachers have the tools to meet those needs. The teachers at Lake Gem are some of the best teachers in the world. They go the extra mile to reach each and every student. There are opportunities for everyone to shine at Lake gem. I like the way that they provide incentives and awards for students also. This is very motivating for them. I can trust that they will keep my children safe when they are at school, which is important. Ms. Harelson has great love for her students, and knows most of them personally. She is very down to earth and cares deeply about her students and families. My children have been blessed to be at Lake Gem.

Lake Gem had amazing leadership under Ray King. The new principle Patty Harrelson was the Asst Principal to Mr. King and it is clear that she is continuing the high standards to education he started. I love this school and so does my 1st and 5th graders. The school has high expectations from their students and provide the tools for them to meet those expectations. I share this same mental attitude when it comes to my children because I firmly believe that children believe in themselves when those adults around them show that they believe in them as well. Lake Gem believes in my kids as much as I do. That's why they are an 'A' school three years and counting. Keep up the good work!

Lake Gem overall is a good school. My child has special needs so they have speech therapists/occupational therapists to help.I am grateful for that. My issue was with the Principal I had a concern so I spoke to him about it after I spoke to my childs teacher but did not feel any better afterwards actually I felt worse because he could not answer any of my questions.Evidently he is a good principal the school has improved since he has been there but if you have a concern keep speaking with the Teacher to get it resolved. The issue is resolved now since I kept speaking with her.The teacher is the one that is in the class every day and understands what goes on day in day out but at the time that was not the case so I went to him about it which did not help.
