The office staff is wonderful and very helpful. We have loved our children's teachers so far. The only negative for us has been the current principal. While she pretends to be friendly, she really isn't and can make it very uncomfortable for you if you disagree with her for any reason. A person who speaks in absolutes shouldn't be running a school.
I agree the ne principal is friendly but the past principal is the one who made Partin the A school it is today. She had high expectations and those expectations can be seen in all the ways we love the school. I have four children two of them were there when the past principal was there. I always knew what was going on because the communication was great! I have watched the FCAT scores increase every year. Now, with the friendly principal we will see how the school continues to perform. Remember we bought houses because of what the school has done in the past. I feel there are problems with the cohesiveness of the teachers and see a lot of disorganization. Teachers do not get along. These are going to be issues if the principal does not have the back bone to correct things. Being nice is one thing running the school is another. Not all the needs of the students are being met unless you might be gifted. New gifted teacher has issues too! My children are soon to be finished with Partin and I feel it is just in time!!!! I agree the principal needs to get a handle on the staff.
Excellent school! We chose to have our children attend Partin and have been very pleased with our decision thus far. Although, we have seen the school go through both a principal and an asst principal change they have both been for the positive. We have been very happy with the teachers and the staff. Parent involvement is always high each calendar year and they encourage your voice to be heard. We have no complaints about this A rated school.
LOVE the new principal, so happy that the VP is out for 2011 - I heard so many things from the teachers- not just parents- who were unhappy with him. I will say that I am a little disappointed in the communication. As we go along, we are finding that there are several different programs and options available, which is great - but we either hear about them too late or not at all. I saw that the website is new and I am hoping it stays more up to date and serves as more of a resource for parents - which it hasn't in the past. Either that or they need to start an email list for those that want to be on it with periodic updates. They have used auto dialers in the past and I know that costs $$
Seriously, the last principal was hands on? LOL Very funny. Not at all! The entire staff was horrible with her running it. I think you must be mistaken. We are finally thrilled to have a new VP coming this year as well. Change is good. We welcome the new VP and are thrilled. We love Dr. Katz. She is fabulous. As far as special needs and diets, the teachers 4th grade also leave a lot to be desired. The entire fourth grade is a mess. They all don't get along and it is caios! I hope Dr. Katz and the new VP get a handle on the staff for the 2011-2012 year.
A large school with not much attention given personally to students except if they are one or two of the 'chosen' ones. 5th grade teacher indifferent to my child's medical diet. Didn't praise or encourage anyone except her 2 favorites.
I agree that the past principal was not hands on...Very pleased with our new principal...she is more visable and easy to talk to...Even with her handicap she can be seen walking around the building checking the classrooms etc.. and very pleasant...at all times...
Not all of us have kids who are gifted. Some of the teachers at this school has no patients for kids that has some kind of learning disability. I do feel they discriminate not only against the black kids with disability but the white kids too. I have had nothing but frustration dealing with certain individuals in this school. So to lady who has a gifted child consider yourself fortunate, because you would be singing a different song if you where in my shoe with a kid with a disability.
As a parent of a black child who has been at Partin since kindergarten, I must totally disagree with the last comment. As my son now enters 4th grade he has received nothing but support and encouragement from all his teachers K thru 3rd. This past year his 3rd grade teacher recommended him and he was selected for admittance in the Gifted program. I realize that every one's experiences are different however, I have never once felt that was child was treated any differently than any other.
If you are African American this school is not for you. They don't really help our kids. We almost always have some kind of learning disability. Plus I think some of the teachers are racist. The administration I consider racist to. I f you look at the 2010 yearbook not one African American Child was represIf you are African American this school is not for you. I don't think the school is very parent friendly and the office staff is not friendly at all. The admistration are not hands on with the students.
We have been with Partin for almost 3 years now and love it! The teachers are fantastic and the staff is amazing. They also have a challenging gifted program. We moved here from CA and could not be happier with the school. I also take it upon myself to teach my child at home in addition to their school homework. I think the collaboration between myself and school has made a huge difference in my child's capabilities. 5 stars from this mom!
I agree, Partin is an excellent school. This year has been wonderful for my daughter. She is in third grade and has a great teacher. On the Open House day, you can feel the pride the staff has as they all wear the same shirts. You feel the excitement and the professionalism by all. The things my daughter is learning is by far more that I did in elementary. I am pleased the school addresses the high and low learners. My daughter is gifted and I feel she is being challenged. The school is doing the 21st century techniques. We love Partin!
Partin is a top notch school. The staff is very professional. The teachers my children hd and presently have are outstanding. The principal is extremely friendly and welcoming to parent input. She and the teachers have the children's best interest at heart. The school is in good shape and the technology is up to date. Parents are very involved and supporte. We moved here so our children could attend Partin. We made the right choice!!
Excellent school! Haven't had to deal with admin much, but the school couldn 't run any better. Teachers are professional. My chilren love going to school!
This is an outstanding school! The Principal and the teachers are very professional and seem to care about the students. My children have had wonderful teachers. My experience with the Principal has been great. All I can say is we wouldn't go anywhere else!
I am a parent of fifth grader that just finished his last year at Partin. I am very sad to see him leave. When the assistant principal became principal back in 2005, the school changed for the better. It was more focused on meeting our childrens needs academically, which is the reason we send our children to school. I feel my son received an excellent education at Partin and the gifted program is wonderful, as well as, the special projects the student were involved in. The principal is really moving the school into the 21st century. The teachers are amazing! Everyone is very professional and caring, especially the front office and the teacher assistants. Parents are welcomed! The principal is sweet but not someone who seeks attention, she always gives her staff credit but we all know a great school starts with a great principal. We will miss Partin!
A+ Principal, A+ Teachers, A+ Staff, A+ Students, A+ Parents! We moved to Partin from another school down the road and were very pleased we made the move. Our daughters love their teachers. We met with the principal and she could not have been more pleasant. I always feel welcome and just get a kick about the car line. The teacher assistant knows everyone s car and name. The PTA programs have been a lot fun for our entire family. The test scores are outstanding as well as the curriculum. My daughters finally enjoys going to school. Top notch school! Thank you to the Principal and the Teachers!
My son is in the fourth grade and I have had the opportunity to dividend and hold a position on the PTA board. Partin is a wonderful school. Parents are welcome in the classrooms and on campus. The staff is wonderful and extremely dedicated to the education and welfare of the children. The principal has made many welcome changes at the school and has brought Partin to the next level. She is very approachable and willing to work with the parents. She often seeks teacher input as well as parent input. I feel very fortunate to be able to send my son to Partin with such an outstanding staff and principal!!
I just found this website and read the reviews. I have three children, one that had attended and two that are attending Partin at this time. After reading the reviews, it is very surprising the negative comments that are made about the school. Partin is a wonderful school with a great principal, great teachers and great staff. Everyone is very friendly and caring towards our children. The principal sincerely cares about our children and I have never found her to be unfriendly. She is always trying to do what is best for the students and holds high expectations for the school. If you attend a SAC or PTA meeting you would really know what happens behind the scene. The teachers are outstanding and if you think they focus on FCAT to much then think again. This A school helps your property value, move on if you are not happpy!
