I love pahokee elementary school, however, I think they could be doing alot more to expose the children to more education activities outside of the school. Introduce the kids to new things beyond the walls. Even if they don't go out of the walls, bring some new things inside the walls. We as parents really have to work hard to help the teachers with our kids so that their grades will improve and our overall school grade will improve. This should be a team effort.

The teachers stay on top of academic progress. They help every student reach their highest potential. They use assessments to differentiate instruction. Parent involvement is much better than it used to be because all the teachers have begun inviting the parents into the classroom at their own convenience. Safety and discipline remains a problem. The teachers write referrals, but repeat offenders do not change their attitude or behavior. We do not want to suspend the child from school putting them on the street to cause havoc during the day and further pushing them away from education, but if they remain in the classroom disruption to the eager learners continue. I often thought that afterschool Sports would solve the problem giving all the children a way to focus their hyperactive energies. Unfortunately, at this time Pahokee only provides PYEA and tutoring. Hopefully, the upcoming year will be different.
