This is my daughter's 3rd year at Sunrise and I couldn't be happier with the quality of education she is receiving. The teachers and administration is very friendly, the building itself is clean and well kept and she truly enjoys going to school there! After heraing horror stories about other elementary schools in the Palm Bay area, I am very thankful my daughter is attending Sunrise. I just wish there had been a girl scout troop for her the last two years.

Great environment, qualified teachers, and good and caring principal who is always involved in all schools activities.

Untrustworthy & Unprofessional. The clean, ultra quiet campus, is not reminiscent of a childhood school. It is exactly what it appears to be. Uniforms would go along well with it's cold atmosphere. Don't be fooled. We were.

Sunrise has been a Godsend! My son is out of area as well and I would drive 50 miles one way just to keep him here! This is the first school in our district to take an interest in my son and the difficulty he has faced with a learning disability. I cannot say enough - no words give justice to the time and commitment his teacher and the administration has given to my son. They have given him back his chance to enjoy school!

I think that the prinicpal is very involved with the students and does a wonderful job. My daughter is in the first grade and loves it! Her teacher is wonderful and always willing to do anything she can to help a situation easier and comunitcates with us a lot.

Sunrise is the best in the area! The teachers are involved and caring. The Principal and support staff are extraordinary. The school is new and enjoys new technology and equipment. My son is an 'out of area' student, meaning that I provide transportation both ways for him to attend this school instead of the one closest to our home. No doubt about it, this school, it's staff and teachers make the added time/cost worth every minute/penny!

The school is very clean and the staff is so wonderful. I have 3 children in this school, and each teacher has taken time to know my child and observe their needs and actually call me and fill me in on their progress-without having to. My children love going there and are excited about all the programs and field trips and like their teachers. This is their second public school they have been in and this school have out done themselves compared to some others.

Sunrise is a 10. I have taught at all schools on this list as a sub. The teachers are superb. The principal is outstanding. The front desk and administrative staff members as well as those in the media center are 10. The students are very easy to teach and eager to learn. The physical plant isn't as ritzy as a few other schools but the premises are always kept clean. The cafeteria serves good food to the students. Its staff members are professional. If I was ever invited to even be a regular full-time sub at Sunrise or appointed a full-time teacher, one of my last remaining goals would be Sunrise is not a 6,7 or 8. Or a 9. Sunrise Elementary is a 10!

About the tests

Florida uses School Grades to measure the overall performance of a school each year on the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT). Each school is assigned a letter grade (A-F) based on three criteria: the overall performance on the FCAT, the percentage of eligible students who took the test, and whether or not students made progress in reading and math. The School Grades are calculated by adding points earned from each of the performance criteria listed above.
