I went to Royal Palm for two years, but then left due to a bullying problem. The teachers at the school (at least the one's I had) seemed to care about my dilemma and tried to help me get through it. However the administrations only cared to engage in the conflict (which they did not resolve) to make sure that i would keep my grades up. Even when the situation got dire, they only seemed to care about my grades, and how it would affect the school image. Even when I left, they kept me enrolled as a student (which increased the number of students enrolled) so that they would get more funding from the school district. The students there are terrible, and lack any kind of empathy or remorse. Skipping is a huge issue as well. If you are the parent of a child who is getting bullied, do not allow them to go here, the situation will be worse. Instead, take them out of school and put them into FLVS full time. It is a great online school, with helpful teachers who have helped me to get my grades up.
I have visited Royal Palm Beach High School twice. On both occasions I observed way too many students in the halls after the bell. Teachers were not outside their doors between classes. My grandson reports widespread class skipping and abuse of the restroom hall pass. I have been told by parents the the school is improving. Please continue with increased vigilance.
My daughter is a Junior in the Excelsior and Medical Program the school work is difficult but worth the challenge. I am aware this is not a perfect school and perhaps not all the teachers are the best. We have had good communication with all of my daughter's teachers. It is all about how much your child wants to invest in their education. I highly recommend one of the Academies or In House Program for your child.
Royal Palm beach High school is a terrible school. The teachers and other faculty that work there are rude to the students, and show no compassion towards anyone. The principle has no idea how to run the school. Although he's made a noticeable change in how it was before, it's still not where it should be compared to other excelling schools. Hundreds of kids are sent to ATS (alternative to suspension) which is a room where you're sent to sit and do absolutely nothing all day. By doing this is encourages kids to skip classes that they don't want to attend without any consequences. If you cared about the environment and education that your child is surrounded by you wouldn't even consider letting your kid go to this school.
very poor school. lot of disipline issues. half dressed young men hanging all over girls after school and no supervision correcting their behavior. principal and assistants not responsive to parent call when child was being picked on and her classes were not doing meaningful work. teacher/ coach not instructing giving out worksheets .
Extremely unorganized school, especially when a substitute is needed to cover the classes. Often when there is a substitute, the rooms aren't already unlocked so students wait several minutes (sometimes even 20 minutes) before they enter the classroom. Once inside, lesson plans aren't left behind so the sub inevitably throws on a movie to try and maintain order. The same atmosphere is in several classes even when the teachers are there. It just seems they've all given up, because they can t enforce discipline with the hands off approach of the administration. Everywhere you look students can be seen with their cell phones and iPods out, not just the courtyard, but in the classroom. In turn, the students show little respect to the teachers, because they know discipline likely won t be enforced. It s actually amusing when I hear the Principal is turning things around, because as bad as things were during the reign of Garcia 7 years ago, this guy s disciplinary actions are far worse.
This school used to be a bit on the bad side but since Mr Armas (the new principle) came in the school things changed a lot and the school became better, there is a whole lot less violence and this school is really good now. to be honest it is a better school than a lot of other schools. Mr Armas is a strict guy but he is the right man for the job. He keeps everyone in line. there is great school leadership now and challenging academic programs. This school i belive is now a/b school. a very good school if not you could say it is a GREAT school now compared to how it was before.
My son is a student at RPBHS. I admit that my wife and I had serious reservations about letting our son attend, starting a freshman last year. However, after interviewing the Principal, Jesus Armas, and reviewing his background and what he has done for other troubled schools that he has turned around, we were impressed with Mr. Armas's vision and potential. As a part the the schools Excelior AP program our son has excelled and is thriving academically and socially. There is still much improvement that is needed, however with new programs being added and targeted to attract and retain higher caliber students we should see a dramatic improvement overall at this facility. If we can hang on to Mr. Armas long term, I feel RPBHS will be a highly regarded school that will be a magnet for the areas better students.
My daughter is a freshman this year at Royal Palm Beach High, and is just having a difficult time adjusting. She was always exited to go to school and this year the enthusiasm is just not there. First off, it's been a month since scholol started and she still doesn't have a schedule for her classes and find herself to keep asking about her schedule. She's very organized and this is just driving her crazy. I just have to keep encouraging her to stay focus on the task ahead. Most of her classes the kids are sleeping and shows no interest in their work. She came from a middle school where they had exceptional behavior, respect for their teachers and peers and it's just mind blogging to her.
Royal Palm Beach High School is not a safe school for students to attend. Gang member students wear there gang colors and bring weapons in to school on a daily basis. I have observed many students with guns and knives enter and exit this school with out hesitation. This school needs metal detectors and a police force to crack down on illegal activity on campus. My younger sister is currently a freshman at this school and my family is removing her from this school due to the danger. Serious changes need to be made as our students safety is in jeopardy. The school board needs to face reality and understand that metal detectors are a necessity at Royal Palm Beach High School.
How my child was allowed to skip35x with out a phone call or a letter sent home with d and Fis amazing! Not a happy school!
This school should be rated 1 cause several of the teachers are mean, some of the Assistant Principals are mean. They are not fair, will not listen to the teens, treat them like five year old children. They are so quick to hand out detentions for little things that should not get a detention. The Principal does not know what he is doing.
RPBHS has the potential of being a great school. We have a new principal this school year, and he is amazing. He has a big job in front of him. One of the biggest problems at this school is lack of continuity. We are on our 5th principal since the doors opened 10 years ago. We have a couple of career academies in place now, hopefully that will help us retain students from the RPB area who might otherwise apply to a magnet school. I see minimal parent involvement at our school. For some reason we as parents seem to abandon our children once they reach high school. Attendance at open house is dismal at best. As I said earlier, this school is on the verge of greatness, we just need more hands on support (VOLUNTEER) from our parents and the continued support of the community at large. Go Wildcats.
I am a student here at RPBHS and I love it. The teachers are so nice and helpful. The students are so different and interesting, which makes school so much more fun. Depending on if you are in a magnet program or not, your homework load can vary. I am in the medical program and I have learned so much already. We have a new principal this new and so far he is doing an excellent job. We also have Wildcat reading, which gives us time to read thirty mins everyday. I am so glad that I came to RPBHS and I am proud of being a student here.
I am a student at RPBHS and absolutley love it. It is such an amazing achool with an encouarging environment. I am very involved in school because of how much I love it. My freshman year it was a little rocky, but with new administration this year we have taken a turn towrds improvement. I am confident in our new principal. He has high expectations for us which he is constantly reminding us of. He supports the students involvement in school, and promotes school spirit. He is constantly thanking all of the clubs, especially student council, for their hard work. Throughout the school day he is rarely in his ofiice. He is always seen in the courtyard at lunch and in between classes, and periodically visits some classes throughout the day. Administration enforces the dresscode policy along with all of the other policies. I am very proud be a Wildcat.
To whatever anyone might say about this school, it is honestly a great school. No school is perfect, every place has its flaws. But if your choosing 2 come to rpbhs your making the right choice. Teaching skills are awesome. Theres always help whereever u need. Im a proud student of rpbhs. =]
This school is great and i am glad to be a stdent here. The teachers help you to understand things more and that is a better chance of passing the fcat. This school has many great opertunities.
This school is heading in the proper direction. Community outreach is improved and the locals are supporting the administration. Academics are good and there is plenty of engaged and caring teachers on staff. Nice mix of kids with very few issues. One of the best in Palm Beach County.
I was a student at Royal Palm B. high and I just came back to my country and to tell you the truth I miss that school because its a fun experience when you look back and think of all the fun I had there...
I am a parent of a new student enrolled in Royal Palm Beach High School and am looking foward to a great year for my daughter and myself. Her High School Years are extremeley important to us.
