I am currently in the IB program so I cant comment on traditional schooling, but this is an amazing school. I highly recomend IB to anyone considering it. It is challenging but the teachers are very involved and it is difficult to fail as long as one wants to be there. Most of the teachers are alumni so they understand what the students are facing, and most of them are youngso they still remeber what its like to be a student. There is a lot of discussion in class and the teachers treat the students like equals, which makes the students more likely to listen and retain the information being given. There are almost no problems that I have with this school after 2 years of attendence
This is a wonderful school after one year of being in its IB program. It's a lovely program with dedicated teachers. and SPHS has so many fantastic traditions thats it's impossible not to become a true Green Devil at heart. And I adore the History department.
The best high school in Pinellas county. Great IB program, awesome traditions that stand the test of time too.
St.Pete High is full of our Green Devil Spirit and tradition.
great parent communication and efforts to allow the success of the students...very happy!
top 100 high school, great teachers, great clubs and athletics, a school that seems to be getting better by the year.
If you are in IB, the teacher and admin support is wonderful. However, the 'regular' (honors) program things aren't so great. Students with high GPAs (and are in honors) that have boarderline Stanine scores are being discourage from taking additional honors or AP classes. (They are literally being placed back into regular level classes by their counselors.) Parent involvement needs to be monitored. Meaning too many over zealous parents take low level jobs at the school so they can obtain sponsor seats or coaches seats to ensure their child will make a club or a sport. Many complaints are being lodge but falling on deaf ears. Safety inside the school appears to be fine. However, outside is a different story. Cars are being broken into and stolen. Unfortunately the new principal is more talk than action. I'm not sure she holds the qualities a high school environment needs.
This is a very nice school and my daughter is in the I.B. program as a sophmore and she couldn't be even more please she is very involved in the schools extracuriculars and social events.
SPHS is an amazing school. It has many clubs for any type of interest. The school is very safe. Teachers are very involved and care a lot about the students.
St Pete High is in the top 25 schools in the nation. There is so much school spirit and parent involvement and the overall quality of this school is excellent. You could not asked for a better principal, Mrs. Linda Benware is perfect for this school and the parents and students love her.
