Shoreacres is a fantastic school! My daughter loves it here and has attended the past 2 years. The teachers are great and care how well your children improve. The principal is a visible force in this school which is great. I highly recommend this school be at the top of your list for your children to attend.

We heard this was a good school before we had our kids enrolled there. They are caring, coordinated, organized and nice. I'm very happy to have all 3 of my children attending SAE.

This school is superior and has been dubbed the "Public Private School". Year after year this school gets an "A" rating! The teachers are remarkable, administration diligent, the children outstanding and the families are tremendous! The PTA rocks at this school. The PTA and families support the children and staff making for the ideal environment for high standards in learning and creating a community that is so enjoyable. We are so proud to have been an Eagle for 4 years now! My son is in 4th grade now and he is a brilliant little boy because of this very fine elementary school. We are very fortunate to have this gem of a public school in our backyard. I wish all schools for ALL children were as good as Shore Acres Elementary!

My son has been at that school since KG and this year he finished 4 th grade. Know because of zoning change he has to change school. I made mistake and I called school in January for information and they told me that my son can stay in that school to finish 5th grade and that I do not need to do anithing .Few day before end of school year my son came home and told me that teacher told him that he is not at that school next year . She wanted to help us but there was so much she could do. Principal on the other hand did not care.

My son had a problem with bullies and a very bad teacher(MS.GROSS)at Shore Acres.I immediately was in contact with the guidance counselor, who backed the teacher, and would not transfer my son to another 3rd grade class. She said there wasn't room for a transfer, then 3 more kids were put in his class, 2 transferred from other classes and one new kid(another bully). The problem with the bully cont'd even after the gc talked to him and the kid recruited other kids. I wrote a note in the agenda saying that if the problems weren't fixed I would have my son transferred. Ms. Gross looked right in my son's face and said"I never liked you anyway and I don't care." Then the new kid pushed my son into a puddle on a rainy day and he came home in tears. NO ONE called me to bring him dry clothes and he sat all day in wet pants. I am waiting to hear back from Mrs. Burns on the School Board to get him out of this school.

I have 2 children at Shore Acres. One in 5th grade and one in 3rd grade. Both started there in Kindergarten and have had an amazing few years! We LOVE it, but more importantly, THEY LOVE IT! Could not ask for a more involved group of teachers, families, and PTA. THE BEST!!

I have two kids in the school and love it. It's a neighborhood school which means it's mostly comprised of local kids. My kids are in 4th and 1st and I can honestly say it's been a joy. The PTA is active, the teachers enjoy parental help and the students are well behaved. I volunteer occasionally so I have an inside look at what's happening. Top notch and an "A" school to boot.

I had many good experiences with this school and my kids' teachers. My one complaint is that Mrs. Hodges bullied my daughter with a disability for falling behind in line. The class was not even hers and her own teacher told her to back off and that she was her student and she had a disability. Mrs. Hodges got in my child's face and yelled at her very meanly. The school just gave us the runaround and nothing was ever done about it. There is a new principle now and we have since changed schools. We were also never able to volunteer in one of our child's classroom. Overall, very happy with the school though. The right teacher makes all the difference. Ms. Gable, Ms. Vaughn, and Ms. Cotilla are wonderful teachers. 5 stars for them.

My son's first year at this school, and he loves it. He loves his teachers and classmates. To my observation sometimes when stopping by at his classroom, i found his teacher, Ms.Siviter very kind and loving person.I am happy to see her as my child's teacher, and also happy to have my child in this school. i have one child who will be in Kindergarten next year and i will fight for her to attend Shoreacre instead of havinfg her go to school that rate "C" instead of "A".

My children only spent one day at this school and hated it...My first grader was spit on in the face, my fifth grader heard more four letter words than I care to say.....I would never recommend this school....Not sure why more of the parents aren't concerned about the behavior in fifth grade. But if you don't want your daughter talking like a trucker...this is defiantly not the school for you.

I have had 2 children at this school for 3 yrs grades K-3, we have had an excellent experience at Shore Acres. Teachers are very good, good, caring atmosphere. The PTA is very active. As with any other school, parental involvement is necessary so if there are any problems they can be identified and solved quickly.

Facilities are very good. Kindergarten, first and second grade teachers were good, organized. Large group of kids. Should have a recess every day where the kids get outside.

I find this school to be an excellent choice for any child, especially if your child has any musical intrests. there is a wonderful and enthusiastic music teacher in the school who has created wonderful programs including a violin program after school where she teaches the children to play and then includes them in the concerts, very refreshing. the rest of the facuilty and staff are also very good and there seems to be a great sense of caring and unity.

Really great school in a fabulous neighborhood. Good quality families that are actively involved in school activities. In my opinion, one of the better schools in the areas.

The construction of the new school is absolutley beautiful. Communication between my son's teacher and I are great. This should be first priority of all the teachers. It would be great to see clubs, instead of supplementing activities through an outside source. It is possible there are some, and if so notification is minimal. The PTA does a wonderful job supporting the school.

About the tests

In 2013-2014 Florida used the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT 2.0) to test students in grades 3 through 10 in reading, 3 through 8 in math, in grades 5 and 8 in science, and in grades 4, 8, and 10 in writing. The FCAT 2.0 is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Florida. The FCAT 2.0 has 5 achievement levels, with level 1 being the lowest and level 5 the highest. Florida considers scores of level 3 and higher to be on or above grade level. The goal is for all students to score at or above level 3.

Each school is assigned a letter grade (A-F) based on three criteria: the overall performance on the FCAT, the percentage of eligible students who took the test, and whether or not students made progress in reading and math. The School Grades are calculated by adding points earned from each of the performance criteria listed above.
