My son is in his first year at Davis this was not my school of choice it was his fathers.I do not have any complaints so far other than there overall rating of a C I think this can be brought up quickly with more parent involvement.

We are very satisfied since switching my son. Lowry was one of the choices we had (not overcrowded), and we couldn't have been happier. The teachers are great, parent involvement is very good (eventhough yes, most of us are affected by what another reviewer calls 'economic conditions in the community'. It's called a job), fundraisers have been successful enough to help build two separate structures in the past couple of years (outside pavillion and expanded classrooms). The student community is ethincally diverse which is a MUST for an enriched school experience. We LOVE Lowry!

I have three children currently attending Lowry (K,1st and 5th). The quality of teachers is outstanding. This,in my opinion, is the main reason this school has maintained an A grade. The school offers a variety of music for the children depending on age level <chorus, orrf ensemble, drum line>. The school has a morning show that is broadcast to all students in the mornings. Great physical education dept and art dept. An excellent PI and AU program too. As with all organizations, the PTA could use more parent volunteers when considering the number of students enrolled. An excellent after school program too!

This is a wonderful school. I am very pleased with the quality of teaching and educational opportunities available at this school. The aftercare program is excellent.

An excellent school, with great teachers. My one big complaint would be the teacher sharing strategy they use in Grade 1.

I think Lowry is a good school. 2004-04 we had a bad experience with a teacher. Although,The first two years there were very good and I was happy with our teachers.

Lowry is a A+ quality school. My daughter attend for 6 years. They have music, art, phys ed and is rated as the county's very best afterschool program which is very inexpensive from 2-6PM. The PTA has just a few meetings each year but very active and not many fundraisers.

Lowry is a wonderful school with dedicated teachers and an active PTA. Parental involvement is strong. There is great leadership in both the principal and vice-principal. It also has the top rated after school program in the district. The only down side is children don't spend enough time on electives like art & music. This is because of state-mandates and not decisions at the school level. Overall, my daughter has flourished here.

Academics at Lowry is very focused. There is diversity due to a combination of multiple ethnic backgrounds, both student and staff, as well as a math based gifted program and various programs for special needs students. Art, music and sports are regularly available to all grade levels and student participation is encouraged for special events which focus on physical activity. The arts and physical education have, however, been reduced with the implementation of No Child Left Behind and class size limits. This is due to the need for additional classroom space per mandates. Parental involvement is good, but could always be better. Parental involvement is limited due to business/economic conditions in the community.

Need more supervision for the children. Not enough parent involvement.

About the tests

Florida uses School Grades to measure the overall performance of a school each year on the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT). Each school is assigned a letter grade (A-F) based on three criteria: the overall performance on the FCAT, the percentage of eligible students who took the test, and whether or not students made progress in reading and math. The School Grades are calculated by adding points earned from each of the performance criteria listed above.
