I have multiple children attending for the past 7 years. Teachers are very caring. Way to much homework as I wonder if they teach them anything during the day. 3 to 4 hours a night per student? Just crazy. With the principle change the last year it has really gone down hill. I will not be sending my children back next year as are many other parents. It's become more of a glorified public school in the past year due to the new leadership. NOT WORTH THE MONEY! With tuition and then all the other fees and money grabs they do I expect more from them. I was told they brought the new principle in because the school was losing money. She may righting this, but the ship is going down in all other areas and they will realize this when half the students leave to the other charter and public schools. Save your money if its the quality of education your looking for. All other local schools are the same or better now. I would only go if you want your child in the catholic atmosphere and that would be what matters most to you. But with the new principle that has changed also. It's not worth the money for me now due to all of the above.
The teachers are very willing to assist in any ways they can. They are open to all suggestions and have been instrumental on getting through the tough days. Truly a group of teachers there for the children.
Great school Great Sports Great science Great art department Great Parrish Great Community partners. My children have attended this Catholic school and it has been the best part of there lives. The problem with the web is so many can hide behind there computer and spew gossip and insults. The small school is Catholic based and provides a moral compass as well as a solid Blue Ribbon education. The greater issue has become that the non church going parents of some children attend who have not had to work as a result of mommy and daddys wealth and do not understand that boy and girl drama is not being a bully its life.Getting stuffed in a locker or racism is bullying and I have never seen or heard anything about bullys,in fact it is an insult to the children and parents who attend to say its not safe. If you value faith,America, community support and the Golden rule than this is your place. If you believe in gossip, rumors, whining and being a spoiled parent please move on and remember that the greatest trick the Devil ever played was to make you believe he does not exist, and as you can see from this persons review he does.
This School is a complete waste of money... Blue Ribbon? That is laughable... The curriculum is embarrassing, certain teachers are a disgrace.. Zero communication, bullying, inappropriate behaviors (other students) are not only tolerated, they are ignored. This is not a safe environment for any child. Think twice!!! What you see is certainly not what you get.. I write this on behalf of many upset parents....
Best school possible for catholic families. The teachers there really care about their students. Your child will definitely recieve a better education at ecs than at a public school.
This school doesn't deserve a Blue Ribbon. They give the children way too much homework and expect the parents to teach it at home. If I wanted to teach my kids I would of home schooled them and saved a lot of money. They have a web site for the teachers to let parents know what the agenda will be, but never seem to have the time or knowledge of how to post up coming assignments. The teachers seldom understand that all kids are not the same and if you don't meet up to there standards then your left behind. The staff does a poor job of laying out when and what they will be tested on or learning. They don't deserve their accreditation and it should be reviewed .What would Jesus say or do? Certainly not what they do!!! May God forgive them!!!
I was also asked to write a rewiew for this school when the Principal noticed we went from 5 to 4 star. Not sure how we can actually trust the reviews when they are in my opinion prompted.
The school has great teachers. Too much math homework, not enough Social studies homework. Needs more balance.
Not only am I a parent of an Epiphany student but I am also a teacher and an alumni. Epiphany allows children to practice their faith and provides the foundation and encouragement for kids to become life long learners. ECS has always been like a second family to me and I feel so blessed to be able to share that with my students and my own children!
There is a problem with a school when the principle makes it mandatory for her teachers to log in and give the school a good review. The schools rating should come from parents and individuals in the community whom are unbaised.
I have been teaching at Epiphany Cathedral school for over a decade. I can say ECS is one of the best schools I have ever had the the privilege to be at. Not only are we a Blue Ribbon School of Excellence, we are also one that cares for our community and serves others.
This year's Iowa Test of Basic Skills (ITBS) test results placed our 8th graders at the college level in many areas. Our students in 2-8 all showed a class average of at least one full grade level above their grade. The test results speak for themselves! Our students receive an outstanding education!!! Our students correctly answered over 1/2 million math problems on World Math Day and ranked 3rd in the Nation!!!
This is our 6th year at Epiphany Cathedral School. Our oldest graduates this year, and our youngest is in first grade. Our four chidren have had every teacher, from preschool through 8th grade, at some point during their education. Epiphany is the exception to the rule in that EVERY teacher is top notch. They pour their hearts and souls into educating the whole child. They enrich each child academically, socially and spiritually. Anyone looking for hard data need only to access the most recent national standardized test (ITBS) scores in which every grade, 2-8, performed at least 2 grade levels above, and the 8th grade class, on average, is performing on the college level. As a graduate of Harvard University myself, I couldn't ask for a better academic environment. As a mother of four, I couldn't ask for more nurturing and loving teachers for my children.
I've had 2 kids graduated from Epiphany Cathedral School and one in the 2nd grade now, I cannot imagine a better school for my children. It is family oriented and promotes an atmosphere that is positive, with many academic programs for the children to participate in. The teachers are great and the principal is wonderful, the support staff is also fantastic and caring. I love that the students are allowed to pray! I am proud to say that my children attend(ed) Epiphany Cathedral School. Helen Flynn
My older son has attended Epiphany Cathedral School since pre-school and is now in the 7th grade. My younger son is now in his 4th year at the school. They have both flourished in the incredibly nurturing environment created by the teachers, staff, and parents. Each morning the entire school assembles in the courtyard for prayers, the Pledge of Allegiance, and announcements. It's a wonderful way for the kids to start their day, and for the parents, too. No pushing and shoving to get into school when a bell rings - there's none of that here. Academic standards are high, but the high caliber of the teaching staff supports those standards. My kids' bring home national testing results that are consistently in the 99th percentile across the various subject areas. None of us were surprised when ECS received the Blue Ribbon School of Excellence award. It would be easier to keep the tuition money and send my kids to public schools, but the peace of mind I have knowing that they're in a safe, loving environment each and every day while receiving an excellent education is worth every penny.
This school is a poor excuse for a private teaching institution. During the years that my children attended ECS, the academic standards were set very high by the administration and our children were bored to tears. If it were not for our own additional work given at home they would have been seriously behind when it came to mathematics and reading. As for handling any matters that require disciplinary action; the administration's apparent rule of thumb is to turn the other cheek and completely ignore what is going on. This is definitely not a place that anyone would want to spend their hard earned cash to send their children.
Ever since moving to the Venice area in 2006 my children have flourished. My wife and I give Epiphany Cathedral a bulk of the credit. We have had our two girls graduate from Epiphany and our son is currently enrolled in fifth grade . The administrative staff is excellent and the teacher's help to reinforce the values that we instill in the children at home. The children at Epiphany are the peer group that I envisioned my children interacting with. They have helped to motivate my children to excel in their academic career through example of their hard work and competitive nature. I consider the education that my children receive at Epiphany to be an investment in not only their future but in our own as parents. I know that the foundation that a Catholic School education builds will contribute to our children growing up to be responsible and productive adults.
My children went there coming from a public school. From day one they flurist and enjoyed it so much!!!
I have had children in public schools in two different Fl counties and at Epiphany Cathedral, a private school in Venice Fl. Epiphany is by far a superior institution. Not only has Epiphany more than adequately prepared my children for higher education, it has given them the confidence, strength of character, and moral background to be young adults that I can be truly proud of. Their years at Epiphany have reinforced the values that we as parents feel are most important. I highly reccomend Epiphany to all who are lucky enough to have it as a choice for their child's education. It is worth the sacrifice necessary to send my children to such a fine school.
This school is working very hard to become a school for all students! As the public schools are eliminating programs, parents should look at this Blue Ribbon School as the best in the Venice area.
