Being new to the pod system in Pasco County, at first I was a little suspect. After 2 years of my daughters attending Quail Hollow Elementary, my initial questions or concerns have vanished. The system allows for the children to learn at their own pace while also broadening their interactivity with older and younger peers. My experience with the faculty and support staff has been fantastic. I have to give a great deal of credit for my positive feelings about Quail Hollow to the principle, Peggy Lewis. Having watched her interact with the students, faculty, and parents during school activities, I hold her in the highest regard.

Open 'pod' concept not very conducive to learning. Classrooms are noisy, cluttered, crowded and distracting. Some teachers are very helpful, some are quite aloof. Multiple fundraising activities borderline annoying. Music, PE and art programs are very good. Parent involvement is minimal due to inflexible scheduling of activities.

It is my view that my daughter is receiving a well rounded education. The teachers not only work with the class but fit in the time to worke on an individual basis with the children in their classrooms. The teachers have also kept me well informed on what is happeing in the classroom and if a poblem ever occurs that are quick to contact me.

I gave QHES the opportunity it deserved. It was my daughter's first year last year. I was welcomed with open arms by the staff and the teachers. QHES made it an easy transition willing to work with my child personally. The PTO is very involved with the school. There are a lot of family events. The principal is doing an awesome job! I would recommend everyone giving the school the great opportunity it is.

About the tests

In 2013-2014 Florida used the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT 2.0) to test students in grades 3 through 10 in reading, 3 through 8 in math, in grades 5 and 8 in science, and in grades 4, 8, and 10 in writing. The FCAT 2.0 is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Florida. Each school is assigned a letter grade (A-F) based on three criteria: the overall performance on the FCAT, the percentage of eligible students who took the test, and whether or not students made progress in reading and math. The School Grades are calculated by adding points earned from each of the performance criteria listed above.
