Some of the teacherace are really great, but on the down side, a particular teacher is horrible. She constamoly tries to find some thing negative to write about my son she purposely leaves him out of special rewards like giving candy to others in class--neglects to give him any. Also, my son is naturally gifted in math, but she kept sending bad reports home. When I try to communicate with her via the daily planner, she retorts with sassy comments. I contacted the principal. Nothing gets accomplished, except now his report card accurately reflects his aptitude in school subject. Oh, and no he is getting in trouble because "he is not enthusiastic about teaching classmates math when he completes his far in advance". Wow! My son can do no right according to her. He is emotionally distraught. My son lobed school until being in her class. Now he dreads school. Way to go staff...including principal that acts like this conicer is not a major issue. Perhaps the test scores that prove my son is smart should tell you something???

I love that this school is supporting the Leader in Me initiative and learning the 7 Habits. My child is coming home with all kinds of new vocabulary words that promote leadership skills. I am so grateful she has supportive teachers that foster these skills and that the school is encouraging families to be more involved.

I attented this school myself back in 1990...my daughter was recently transferred here due to the fact that this the only campus in our are that offers a gifted program..I have absoloutely no complaints,,,for those saying that faculty has a bad attitude or problem with parents on campus,i dont know what to tell you..i frequently walk my daughter into the school..including waiting outside the classroom with her until the bell rings...I have suprised my daughter numerous times by bringing some lunch to have with her,....no issues..EVER...have also just popped in at random times in the classroom with no problems or no attitude from ANYONE...don;t think it's fair that people are on here giving this school a bad name..and as far as teachers not caring....maybe its time to step up your parenting skills...your child's education shouldnt end when the final bell rings...

I would never recommend this school to anyone. I agree with first person who wrote review about the principle not liking parents on property. also they don't like parents advocating for their kids if their kids have an IEP they want the parents to just sit back and let them do it all meanwhile your child falls through the cracks-not my child! I also agree with the other reviews that there is a very high teacher student ratio.

West Zephyrhills Elementary is the type of school that sets the standard for all the others. The many programs for children, the caring faculty, beautiful facility, and supportive administration make up what every child needs to receive an first class, outstanding education. I am proud to say I work in this school because it puts our students first always.

I have several disabled children. This school has by far outdone any special needs school I am involved in. This school has allowed my disabled child to remain mainstream with any and all accomodations necessary to make it happen. They care beyond any school I've interacted with (and there have been many with 7 children). I am impressed and so happy that I have the privilege to have two of my children in this school. IEP, ESE based instruction is untoppable. Principal and teachers are impeccable. Top of the line!!!!!

West is a great school! This is my daughter's second year and she loves it! Her teacher's have been so kind and loving. It's absolutely amazing to see how she has learned...all because of great teachers and other dedicated staff! Thank you, you're making a difference in the lives of each of the children!

Both of my daughters attend West Zephyrhills and I believe they are receiving an excellent education. They both have great teachers who do care and care how they are doing. Both girls had problems with reading and they each had the opportunity to have help. Mrs. Rood and Miss Buckler are great along with the other teachers of the Dolphin Pod. I just want to say great job to these teachers. Both of my daughters love attending school and I know they will have fond memories.

My daughter has had the same teacher from Kindergarten and now the first grade. I am so grateful that her teacher is so supportive and attentive. I have to tell you the teacher's name because she is so wonderful to and for my child. Her name is Mrs. Rood. She deserves a real pat on the back! My daughter cannot wait to head off to school every morning, and is progressing in her class beautifully. Thank You Mrs. Rood!

This school is a very poorly run school. I was very upset to know that the teachers really don't care.

Their PTA is very active. The school tries to encourage parent participation. Parents can volunteer or attend field trips. The school has lots of family functions throughout the year, school dances quarterly, a fall harvest, family game nights, parent workshops, field day and a few others. Art and music classes are held once a week. PE is twice a week. Each year we have had lots of support and encouragement from the teachers. Usually there are some extracurricular activities like girl scouts, some clubs. Also they offer PLACE for after care.

The only work sent home after two years of repeated request (to both teachers and adiministration) is spelling. I have nothing other than report cards and progress reports to give mey insight to any of my sons ciriculm. It is frustrating as a parent that wants to be involved to not be allowed to do so. I love my neigbors, my home and the city of Zephyrhills. I am selling the home that my son has been in since he was six months old in an effort to find a better school district.

My son started in this school in K-5 and his teacher was great. She cared about her students and tried to give each student the same amount of attention. However, I feel that this school is over-crowded and the teachers don't have the time to give each student enough of their time. Last year my son was in 2nd grade and I was hopeful with his new teacher but shortly into the school year his class was combined with another class because there were two many 2nd graders in the school. There was an average of 34 kids in his class with two teachers. I feel my son along with other students suffered with organization and attention which made homework and school work an issue. The teachers were understanding but my sons 2nd grade year was disappointing.

Would never recommend this school. My oldest daughter has attended this school for 5 years. She had a terrible Math teacher this year. She failed 98% of her math tests and hardly ever had graded homework. I spoke with the Principal about this and she said that her previous grades on file did not reflect she was doing poorly and if I wanted her out of the math class she would lose her homeroom teacher who was Great. So, I advised her that the issue must lie with the teacher. Nothing was done except to place an assistant in the class for a short period. I still do not know how she ended up with a passing grade for Math. I guess the teacher did not want to look bad as more than half the class was failing. If I could place my kids in Woodland I would in a minute!

I would not recommend this school to any parent. My child has attended this school for 3 years now and every year I have been disatified with the teacher. They classes seam to be too large for them handle. I even had a teacher yell at my child because she was unable to figure out a math problem. It also seamed like the teachers wanted the parents to do the teaching more then they did. Although I dont mind helping my child it was fustrating when she went to school for 6 hours and would bring all her work home. Next year my child will be attending a private school.

I have a son in the first grade at this school. Kindergarten was great Mrs. Veilleux was a great teacher. However, this year, he never gets his homework dittos, and that's if he even gets the home/school folder. The teachers there always seem very nice and genuinely interested in helping the kids. I just hope my son hasn't missed out since he never gets any homework...

My daughter is in the Pre-k program. This is a wonderful program. I would recommend it to all parents. My daughter has learned so much, not just academically but socially and otherwise. She has had tremendous growth in all areas. She has a loving teacher and para. You couldn't ask for better people. They have great communication with the other pre-k teachers.I feel that she is safe at the school, although the gates can be can inconvience due to a shortage of parking, it is for the better, and I understand they are trying to correct the parking issues. Everyone at the school from the Principle to the Secretaries in the office are super nice . I highly recommend this school. I went there as a child and now I am sending my children there. I wouldn't have it any other way! Hats off to everyone in the PRE-K Program!

We have two children at West and are very pleased with the school, staff, and administration. My daughter is above average for her grade level, her teachers have moved her into a class that has challenged her and she is comfortable with. The teachers communicate with us regularly on their progress and achievements. The gates that were installed are a security measure to make sure everyone checks in at the office before going on campus. Not to keep parents out. The parent that wrote the earlier review about these gates should take comfort that the administration is taking precautions to keep our children safe.

My oldest son had some focusing difficulties beginning in the 3rd grade while attending West. I found his teacher to be very willing to work with us to enable him to achieve better results in the classroom. We were able to get him through but found lingering problems through the 4th grade as well. Again, his teacher was just wonderful in that she recognized his patterns and habits right away, communicated with us often and in great detail and he finished the 4th grade rather successfully. 5th grade was a banner year for him and he completed this level successfully and without incident. He is now moving on to middle school and we are thankful for the support and assistance we received from the teachers who had contact with him most. I feel West is a quality school, the teachers are very much in tune with their students and overall we have had a good experience in the past five years. I feel my son has learned both academically and he that he has improved on valuable 'life' skills such as time management and responsibility.

Title One schools are great for those students that don't get help at home. However, The do not help students that excell and don't incourage students to exell . Just to make the grade. and be average. If the student is meeting requirements. then there is no Help for that student to do any better.

My daughter has gone to this school for 2 seasons and I am sorely dissapointed in the school. I am pulling her out and sending her to another school. The current princepal is one of the worst I have met. She has a very bad attitude towards the parents. She had gates put up across the side walks so that the parents can not get on to the school property. And I also over heard her say that the parents do not belong on school property other than to drop their children off and pick them up. The assistant princepal is nice but she will say anything to make the parent happy but then doesn't do what she said. All in all I would never reccommend that anyone send their child to this school willingly. It's a very bad school.
