Great school, big though so parents should stay involved to know whats join on around the school and classroom.
Morris Brandon is absolutely fantastic! Our kids have loved the school, and have thrived in this very kid-focused, achievement oriented environment. The teachers do a great job of connecting with each child and sparking intellectual curiosity based on that child's individual interests and talents, in spite of the large classroom sizes noted elsewhere in the reviews. We really couldn't be any happier, and feel as though our kids are geting a better-than-private school education without the private school expense.
I love this school as miss it now as had to move to another state but I can dare say if you are not here you are missing a lot...my special thanks to miss Washington...she is a amazing teacher...
I moved to an apartment in this neighborhood for my son to attend Morrirs Brandon, I love this school and the educational aspects but its hard to fit in with all the mega rich families in the neighborhood. The downfall of this school is the large classroom sizes, my son's first grade class has 24 students! I know it's an issue with all public schools, so I have learned to deal with it.
They better fence off this property as their own and STOP stealing public education funding! A mob of connections ripping off public school system to benefit a select few. Many teachers are not even able to speak or communicate properly. They are watching their back as they try to defend the principal. Full of fund raising and so called PTA activities to fill the void of their empty lives. Education and learning are just their excuse to show off. Principal is out of touch and often hides in rich friends' house as "meet the principal" hours! They label their program IB but are in contradiction with IB principles from the very foundations.
Morris Brandon is a top notch school due to the extremely high parental involvement (70 assorted PTA committees), dedicated teachers who challenge and provide additional assistance to students when needed, and a surrounding community that actively supports the school (including business sponsorships). Test score results are very important and the school's culture is VERY ACHIEVEMENT driven. Students, teachers, administration, and parents know very well the high standards expected. In spite of the rigourous academic standards, it is also a nurturing and friendly environment. It surprises me how well the staff can remember everyone's name, siblings, etc. For a public school, you can't do any better!
Morris Brandon has often been called a private school in a public school building. The involvement of parents, teachers , PTA and the local community is the principal reason for this school's success. There is no magic formula. The building is full to bursting and the Atlanta Public School system is typically challenged, but it is the individual involvement of parents and high expectations for children which propel this fine school to exceptional results in all categories year after year. A quick check of Georgia CRCT scores and other standardized measures will reveal objective testimony to the performance of this elementary.
Morris Brandon staff is dedicated to the children ensuring that they reach their full potential. The school is surrounding by a housing community which speaks a lot about parent dedication to the success of the school. The afterschool programs are slim but the ones they do have are fulfilling and enriching to both parent and child. French is the second of choice for the school. Parent involvement will lets just say if the parents had to do an annual performance review the principal would not questions that across the board the parents should get a raise. You get suburban style commitment in a city environment. The best of both worlds at your door step. I am glad I moved to the school area to give my child the best education I can afford. Can I say the same to you? I challenge America to adapt this school ways for the children.
this school has a lot of wonderful teachers. My children feel safe and welcome. one area of concern is that the ESL program is not very strong. I highly recommend the school
Morris Brandon is in the middle of Buckheads bedroom community. All the surrounding neighborhood kids attend the school and all the parents are proactively involved. The school's academic reputation, curriculum and facilities are second to none. Rated #1 in Atlanta!
Morris Brandon is A+++ all the way Parent Involement is 200%. Lots of Fund raising, to which all proceeds go to the enhancement of our school. My first grader reads at a fifth grade level, and our first graders rank #1 in the nation for First in Math. It has exceeded my expectations. Our kids take French and other enrichment classes. They also offer free after school tutoring, piano lessons, etc. In my eyes, there is no better school. Other schools can take their cue from Morris Brandon Principal, Teachers, Parents and staff. A++++++
By every objective and subjective measure, Brandon is one of the finest public schools in the nation. In 2003, the US Department of Education recognized Brandon as a National Blue Ribbon School. Its test scores routinely rank among the top three elementary schools in the state of Georgia. The teachers are a dedicated group of professionals, many of whom proactively targeted Brandon as the school where they wanted to teach. Every student studies French starting in kindergarten. Active parental involvement is expected at Brandon, and the parents deliver generously with their time and financial support of the PTA to supplement the curriculum with programs and resources. In short, Brandon is an example of public education at its finest.
You will be hard pressed to find a better public school than Marris Brandon. From the fantastic teachers to the Watchdog Dad's to the choral presentaions to the jumprope team, my hat is off. You will never see so many smiling faces in an elemantary school.
