If you notice, the ratings and comments go back to August 2003. Most of the low ratings are from 2003 to 2005. It is 2012 now and this is an entirely different school. The students attending in 2003 are now 9 years older and are either in middle school or high school. Those comments no longer apply and should be removed. APS is one of the best public schools I have encountered in my 60 years. I am a parenting grandmother, having raised two of my own in Atlanta, both being products of the public school system. The teachers are excited about teaching, whether this is their first year or they are getting ready to retire. I can't say enough about the high standards the teachers here set. Parent involvement is at an all time high. Even many community businesses support the school with Spirit Nights at their establishments. Neighbors without children support the school as well. APS could not be more blessed by all who surround it. If you are looking for a perfect community to live in and a school that will nurture and support your child, you should look into APS. We have a son finishing up first grade at Ashford Park and a daughter who will start in Kindergarten there next fall. We have been VERY pleased with the quality of education our son has received at APS so far. We have loved both of his teachers, both of whom care about him on a personal level but are not afraid to hold him accountable from both an educational and behavioral standpoint. He is clearly getting smarter, both inside and outside the classroom, and has a ton of great friends that he has made at the school. We have considered several of the private schools in the area, and still might for middle school, but at least through his elementary school years we are overjoyed to have found a fantastic place for our kids to learn and grow like Ashford Park.

Ashford Park School has seen a wonderful increase in test scores, parental participation, achievement awareness, and after school programming over the past 4 years. Many of my good friends are parents of my children's classmates. We have met through a mutual participation in many events/functions at the school. If I were grading the school, I would give it a 91% (great, but still some polishing to do),

Great teachers, great school and in a great neighborhood! We feel fortunate to be in one of the "good" schools in DCSS.

Been w/ Ashford Park for 5+ yrs. Our son started out in K and is now a 4th grader. Could have opted for a $15k/a private school. But why? I love the diversity, and all the teachers are on top of their game. Plus, he gets to experience all that life has to offer! No preselection by income, color, faith, language. Ashford has it all, and all the parents stand behind it!!!

Ashford Park is a wonderful community school. The teachers are caring (a few weeks into school, it seems as if every teacher knows every child's name in the hall, even those they don't teach), the parents are extemely involved (and we continue to see more and more involvement each year), and the students are learning so much. We feel fortunate to be in one of the "good" schools in DCSS.

We've had our children at APS for three years and are thrilled with our experience there! The level of parental involvement is amazing. The teachers truly care about the children. This year there are several new after school activities being offered which is wonderful and further enhances our children's learning experience. What a great school!

We are very pleased with our experience at Ashford Park School. We have been there for 1 yr and have thoroughly enjoyed the teachers, staff and PTA. The PTA is full of very involved parents who help to make the school "excellent". I am also very happy that the school requires uniforms which brings the children together and helps them to concentrate on school and not "who's wearing what". The community around Ashford Park also give generously and are applauded for this.

I am so happy my child is going to Ashford Park. The teachers and the staff are caring and loving. The kids are learning so much. I could not be happier! It is a very close knit community, with lots of parental involvement. I'm glad to be a part of it.

We moved our boys to Ashford Park three years ago from private school. I can only say that we wish we had made the move earlier. The quality of teachers and staff is phenomenal. It is a happy school with a friendly group of parents. What my children have learned since being there has amazed me. As you consider your options for schools, I encourage you to get over to Ashford Park Elementary and check it out.
