Teachers seem very good, but the principal/administration lacks care/enthusiasm/passion. DCE can not succeed if their entire staff does not work under the same standards
What happens to Daves Creek? The teachers are so relaxed that they forget that their job is primarily to teach rather than to discuss their private lives with the children. My child had not seen all the curriculum before the crct, and even if she has achieved excellent results, it s no thanks to his teacher. The quality of education decline year after year, priority is placed on the well being of teachers rather than their abilities. Some teachers keep their best , but not the majority. It is time to wake up and get back on track
The teachers are awesome!
Daves Creek has dedicated staff and great parents who all strive to make this school the best it can be. The principal is always involved and lends a hand in whatever is needed. The staff is is warm and helpful. Daves Creek won the GA Gold Metal award for 2009! Need I say more!
2009 Georgia School of excellence! The principal and teachers have done an outstanding job meeting the needs of all learners! Can't think of any school that is better and fair to everyone!
This school teaches at high standards. Grade 4 goes over the georgia standards. My child goes to Daves Creek Elementary.
My son has been at Daves Creek for two years and based on test scores is considered an above average learner. I was concerned that he would be board because Horizons does not start until the 3rd grade but I was proven wrong! His 1st grade teacher and now his 2nd grade teacher have ways of challenging the above average learners while continuing to work with the students who are struggling. I have been very impressed with this and my son LOVES his classroom and teacher. I am always telling friends they need to move to our area so they can be a part of Daves Creek!
My daughter went through a very disciplined and focused learning with some great directions from the teachers. However since last year the principal and some of the teachers are not providing the required attention and are biased in thier approach to all kids. Hope the situation does not deteriorate over the years.
I am a teacher at, and am a parent of a child who attended, Daves Creek for 5-yrs. The argument seems to be whether or not teachers provide their students differentiated instruction so that all children's needs are met. In most classrooms, gifted children are challenged outside of Horizons, and those students who need additional guidance and assistance, receive it. Parents who aren't sure about the level of quality in education we provide need only to compare our test scores! Teachers arrive as early as 6:00 in the morning (2 hours before class begins) and the parking lot contains cars well after school hours. The dedication, commitment, and passion is ever-present.
I have two daughters that have attended Daves Creek, and my older daughter is now in 5th grade, so it's her sixth year there. Both of my children have had outstanding teachers who differentiated instruction for both high achievers and those who needed extra help. The teachers work really hard to make sure the kids are engaged and neither of my children have ever complained of boredom, although they are both high achievers but not in the gifted program. Daves Creek is warm, caring, and child focused, and we feel fortunate to have our children there.
