Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

This school is one of the best in the state. I have not found a better school is a best fit for my daughters than this school. The teachers are excellent, the parents are very involved and the students are highly motivated to succeed. I love it. Shout out to Dr Crum. Good job.

I rated this school as Excellent as it carries an Excellent spirit. The teachers expect 110% which is still needed no matter how high the test score is. How many brilliant minds have we seen not attain their potential as they were not continuously encouraged and had life spoken into their dreams. The principal speaks life into these children and their aspirations. My daughter is a second year student and I am extremely proud of her taking on such a challenge and proud of the teachers for taking no less than a student's best.

There is nothing amazing about a school that takes only the top 5% academic performers in Dekalb county and educates them by enforcing rigid military like structure, tons of mindless deliverables and teachers who believe the hype that they're doing something really special. The question which needs to be asked is how many of these top students fail in this environment, drop out of the school and wind up feeling like failures. Truly gifted students should be allowed more freedom, creativity and hands on learning. This school is preparing kids for the military, not for private sector leadership. The teachers are uncaring and arrogant, the parents are deluded and the only thing amazing about this school is the fact that they don't graduate 100% of the amazing students that walk through their doors. Their kids should be the future leaders of America. I defy anyone to conduct a study of their future performance -- whether in HS or college, I'm willing to bet mediocrity... mainly because the rigid discipline they learn here does not properly prepare them to create, invent, heal, build, own.....

My daughter is a 6th grade student at Wadsworth. This school is so wonderful. I wish I had enrolled my child in this school in the 4th grade. Dr. Crum has a beautiful spirit and the teachers love what they do. They are so loving and caring. I wish the board would let it include 7th and 8th grades. Dr. Crum is one in a million. Mrs.Lynch, the receptionist, is so nice and caring. This school is the best school there is.

We are blessed and thrilled to have discovered this priceless Gem of a school two years ago. Our children had spent 3 years in Dekalb's traditional gifted program where the kids are pulled out of class to spend a hour or two in an accellerated class then returned to their regular [unchallenging] environment. Our kids were complaining of boredom. At Wadsworth (WMSHA) every minute of the school day is engaging. They provide a rigorous academic environment combine with the approach that every child is brillant. They encourage leadership and responsibility, while teaching the importance of compassion and tolerance: they teach the whole-person. The educators are the best in GA: every teacher is gifted certified, most have a masters degree. Each teacher demonstrates their commitment and love of our kids everyday. Dr. Crum's leadership as a principal is un-riveled. Her approach and that of her team is to uplift a child helping them to be the awesome people they were born to be. This school and its staff are exceptional! We'll say goodbye to WMSHA in May 2013 in search of a middle school that deserves to stand in WMSHA's shadow. In our hearts Wadsworth Absolutely Rocks and always will.

This is my child's first year at Wadsworth Magnet School, and she absolutely loves it. We attended open house, and were very impressed by the cleanliness of the school, the welcoming and open arms of the principle, Dr. Crum, and the diversity of the staff, who were also very friendly and willing to answer any questions or concerns that we had. We have completed semester one, and looking forward to the second semester as Wadsworth Magnet. Wadsworth Magnet School Most Definitly Rock!!

This is my son's second year at Wadsworth and we absolutely LOVE IT! The teachers are excellent! They all provide a challenging curriculum delivered in an exciting way that keeps the kids engaged. It is clear that the administrators and staff all love the children and love their jobs. I honestly hope that it is decided that Wadsworth goes to 8th grade so that my son will be able to stay there until high school!

Oh how I miss you dear old Wadsworth Magnet! Our son is now at Chapel Hill Middle and I still have the Wadsworth sticker on my car. I plan to keep it there until he finishes 12th grade because the experience he had was like none other. I only wish the board had agreed to merge the schools and I would have continued to be happy. I cried so hard at graduation last May and the memories are so fresh. Being that I am a teacher I know excellent quality when I see it. My son still brings up memories and he was a straight "A" student because of the hard working teachers when he was there. But there is still time to merge and at least he would have the 8th grade experience and all of the former students can once again be together and happy once again. Dr. Crum and Mr. Watkins you are better than the best with your excellent leadership and the wonderful way you treat your staff. God bless you both and Wadsworth Magnet!!!

Great School! Mrs. Nunez's spanish immersion trip to San Juan was outstanding. we had so much fun and the students learned so much about the spanish culture. Mrs. Handy the school nurse is another great asset to WMS. she is always so helpful and caring. I would highly recommend this school if you live in south dekalb and want school that produces results 100% pass on all subjects CRCT.

Wadsworth is the best school experience my son has ever had. I only wished the merger would have taken place because now there is a struggle to find a school that will give the same loyalty. The teachers are real world and my son is so excited to be there. His learning has caused hime to be confident in himself and I love to see that. We will really miss the school since this is his last year in 6th grade. I wish there were more schools like Wadsworth. Wadsworth now Wadsworth forever!

I know that my review is a little late; however, WMSHA is an outstanding school and one of Dekalb premier schools. My daughter is now 8th grade and attended WMSHA during her 6th grade school year. It was such a pleasure. It was the first time in her Dekalb Co. school attendance history that she was happy with the entire experience. I wish WMSHA was available to her during 4th and 5th grade as well. Dr. Crum and Mr. Watkins are both the epitome of stellar educators. Kudos to Wadsworth. It was an outstanding experience my family.

This is my first year at Wadsworth and I really like it. We have band and spanish everyday. I can now say the pledge in 2 different languages. My teacher is the best. she really helps us with our work and shows us different ways to learn great stuff. Math is hard, but I have tutorial on Tuesday to help me. We are supposed to go on a trip to rock eagle and other interesting places. I am really excited about my new school.

My child attended this school from 4th thru 6th grade and graduated in 2011. The teachers, principals, and staff are excellent. Dr. Crum and Mr. Watkins are the best principal and assistant principal I have ever met. They truly care about the kids. Kudos to the teachers also! The material taught and the way in which they engaged the children with critical thinking was awesome. My child learned how to speak Spanish and enjoys it so much that he now engages Latin people in conversations whenever he is meets them. Additionally, it was awesome to hear him play his instrument at the graduation! They sounded like one of the college bands. If this school could go up to 12th grade, I would have let him remain there.

Wadsworth Magnet is a great school for gifted and high achiever students to learn alongside students who have the same drive and desire to learn as they do, however the teachers have very little understanding abouthow gifted children learn and the administration is incompetent at best. The principal is a walking , talking, minstrel show with little to no leadership skills and even less knowledge of anything instrctionally related. This school is a great idea in theory, but will never work with the current staff in place.

My daughter attended Wadsworth Magnet School last year and after years of being either #1 or 2 in her class at her previous school, she's now in a class of children who all have a yearning for education. Though she was accepted into other schools, we decided Wadsworth was best because it is a school for "high achievers" and because it is in our community.
