My child has been going to this school for 3 years. He had one teacher who was great! The other 2 teachers have been terrible. I believe they are just riding out time for their pension. My child has been subjected to continous bullying and despite my many calls to the prncipal, nothing has ever been done. Nothing. This year my child's class was told to give thei best guess on the Science portion of the CRCT tests because she had not been able to teach them all of the curriculm. A third grade teacher has been the absolute best teacher I have ever encountered. 2 years later my child still wants to bring her gifts for the holidays. I can only speak for the teachers my child has had but they were absolutely terrible. The students are forced to walk (coporal punishment) instead of having recess for whatever reason the teachers deem. This may be due to talking excessively or not returning a parent signature and anything in between. Other than the few liunch aides in the lunch room, the only persons in charge is assigned students in the class. The two in my childs class taunt some students into talking and then write them up. I am looking at alternative arrangements next year.
I have to agree with the previous blogger. The school does have some good teachers; However, a few other should not be allow to teach. As far as the principal, my tax money is being wasted. If a parent ever have a concern about a teacher and the treatment towards the students, the principal will talk down to you and will make you feel inferior. Responding to a previous blogger, I don't care how Christian anyone of these teachers are, some of them are very fake and unprofessional. In addition, the school is always asking for money and if you don't participate your child will be left out and unpopular on any of the extra attention and will not be a part of the extra pictures or recognitions throughout the year.
Most of the teachers in the school are very good; however, there is a small number of teachers who should not be allowed to teach. Sadly, the administration does not appear to be very concerned about the negative impact this small number is having on the students in the school. One can only hope that someone will soon realize how detrimental these few are and act accordingly.
Spout Springs has awesome teachers and an awesome principal. Alot of the teachers are christians and go to my church.
This is our first year at SSES and we are very happy here. My son who is in kindergarten hated pre-k but now loves going to school every day. Mrs. Waycaster is a great K teacher and constantly in touch with the parents either through notes, phones calls or emails. We love it here.
I think that SSES is a good school and teachers do a good job. I am not real imoressed with what I have seen from the new leader so far. He is out of the building alot and seems that the other principal is doing most of the work around the campus. With that said, my kids love their teachers and 3rd grade has been a great experience for her. I will continue to support this school, but be a little skeptical of the new guy.
Dr. Gibbs did a great job setting the school on a clear path. So far, my children's teachers all seem well-qualified, welcoming and approachable. We look forward to another good year at SSES. lisa a
The area is changing and growing, with that comes increased demands on the teachers and principals to exceeded in advancing the school. The former principal made great strides to create a more professional environment and added new specials class, Spanish, which helps SSES to compete with surrounding counties. He also began grouping children based on levels and abilities so that all children can do the best at their own individual levels. Only complaint, discipline was not what I expected from any school. Be it county wide or just in this school, discipline should be key to a structured and safe learning environment. I have personally been pleased with most of my children's teachers. I sincerely hope that the progress Gibbs started will not be hindered. Thanks SSES!
Spout Springs is a great environment with teachers and administrators that really care about the education of my children.
Overall a great school, my child has been there since kindergarten. The teachers are great, they all seem to try hard to relate with the children and parents. However there is room to improve. With the area growing ever so quickly the 'it's who you know attitude' should diminish. The administration is not as strong as when the old principal was there, however the new one is so young and moving on.
