They really do a great job at DFE. We have been there 7 years total with our kids. The staff really connects with the kids and they care about them. It makes me feel good to drop my children off knowing they will be looked after and taught in a good environment. It does have a few issues as all schools do but, all and all, a great place. Only gripe is I wish the principal would quit moving his staff around. If a teacher is doing a good job teaching K or 1 or 2... then why move them to another grade?
Dragons are the best--the teachers work hard to make parents and students feel welcome.
The staff and teachers are really great. They are innovative and I'm happy to say that the CRT scores have improved under the leadership of the new principal.Keep up the good work!
The teachers keep parents well informed and take a genuine interest in making your child succeed>
We are now 8 months into my son's K-5 year. I have loved every part of this school. Great communication and opportunity for parent involvement. The school calendar is wonderful. Not a lot of half days and random days off. Our son has learned so much and enjoys school. The faces of the students and teachers tell you all you need to know. They seem happy. Go DFE!
The staff is very warm and friendly. I am concerned about the large amount of non-instructional time they have. The students have 30 min. for recess, 30 min. (at least) for lunch, and appx. 40 min. for specials. The school day is only 6.5 hrs. two of those hours (at least) is spent away from direct instruction. I think if they spent a little more time on student achievement they kids would score off the charts on the standardized test.
We attended the Arts and Crafts Festival held yesterday at DFE...it was awesome!! You could tell a lot of hard work and thought went into putting this together. Just another reflection of how great this school really is!
I've appreciated the extra lengths the facutly has gone to in order to help the DFE parents better understand their child's progress in school. Teachers send home a lenghty monthly commentary which details not only how my child is doing, but also spells out what will be taught over the next four weeks and how it will be evaluated. The school put in place a fine arts program of 1 hour per day for each student. We were thrilled! The administration and staff are to be commended for the work and thought they have put into their overall program. As a parent, I applaud their efforts! Dragons Are Number 1!
I have been so impressed by Dames Ferry. The school is very inviting when you walk in the door. It is very child friendly. The students work is displayed throughout the school. Every teacher that I have dealt with has been extremely helpful and friendly. Many of the teachers have even given out their home phone numbers in case they need to be contacted at home. To me this is a sign of real dedication. The students are very well behaved and respect the faculty and staff. I am so pleased that I have moved into this area and that my children wake up each morning and go to such a happy and warm place. I feel very fortunate to have my children at this school. If you are looking for great neighborhoods, a terrific school, and top quality education Dames Ferry is the place to go.
I love Dames Ferry. I am so thankful that they put responsibility on my child and make her accountable for her work. The school has an excellent curriculum. The test scores improve each year. The teachers are extremely dedicated. I am amazed to see the number of cars that are still in the parking lot long after school is over. The school is very innovative. The administration and faculty are always looking for new and better was to improve instruction. I always feel welcome when I visit the school. The support network of parents is evident by the number of parent volunteers that are present everytime I am there. Discipline is excellent. My daughter has never complained of students misbehaving on the playground on in her classroom when the teacher did not intervene. I feel very safe knowing that the school a wonderful security system. I love DFE!
