Twiggs County High School has several problems: 1. Out-of-control student behavior 2. Total lack of parental interest 3. Very low test scores, but a strictly enforced dress code (for show, I guess) 4. Religious references in staff meetings as well as between teachers during school hours, as well as discrimination against those who speak out against it...very backward-thinking 5. Obvious racial discrimination toward those not African American (also ties into the religious issue) 6. Teachers/Administration not of high quality...I imagine the good ones leave very quickly.

Twiggs County High School is the worst school system that I have ever experienced. Compared to my experiences in college, the school failed to offer any sort of academic challenges. During my first semester of college, I struggled every week to get the same grades that I was getting in high school. Most of my peers had GPA's well over 4.0 out of high school because of the AP classes that their school offered. Twiggs county offered only a couple of those classes. I was able to earn a 3.3 GPA during my first semester at the University of Georgia, but it was one of the hardest times of my life. I finally was able to teach myself how to study based on mentors and fellow students who decided to help me. My friends had easier times. Of course, a good portion of students came from private schools. Did Twiggs County help me get to where I am? Yes, only because it was a high school. I am where I am today because of my motivation and my family. Please, get your kids out! If this angers or disappoints anyone associated with the school, I am sorry, but you need to accept the truth that Twiggs County belongs where it has been for years...dead last.

I am a parent and a graduate of Twiggs County High School. Rating this school may not bring about positive change, but it does allow me to provide some insight to someone who may be considering moving to this area. I moved back to this area because it is home. I have two children in the Twiggs County public school system. One is in high school and one is in elementary. I'm very satisfied with the education my child is receiving in the elementary school so far, but I'm disappointed with the high school. The many changes haven't improved much for the school. I admire some of the teachers and administrators, but some of the them act like their sole purpose is to make the students miserable and earn money as they do. Leadership's failure to put the students' learning first proves their priorities are off.

Twiggs County High School is a small school; which is fine, because Twiggs county itself is 'small'. I am a graduate of Cobras' Country and very proud of it---it makes me sad when I come to visit ('home') and see that the town; where I grew up, looks like it just stood still of time. If the town itself hasn't progressed over the years, it is difficult to believe that the school system has improved enough to compete with other schools in the area and the state!

We moved here 2 years ago from a military school system. Twiggs County School system needs a lot of improvement. The dress code issue would not be an issue if everyone wore the same thing (uniforms). This system is very dumb to the issue of bullying and harassment. The special education department needs some help also.

I graduated from Twiggs County High this past year in 2006, and I am proud to say that I am a Alumnus of this fine educational institute. Twiggs County not only taught me how to think for myself and how to lead, but it also help me maintain morals and values. Twiggs County High School is a great education institute and one of the finest in the state and in the nation. Go Cobras. -Jonathan R. Riggins, ENFA, USN

TCH is a great school. Most of the teachers I had were great, and I thank those teachers who were challenging. It's up to the students to extend their knowledge beyond what is taught.Parents you should remember that Rome wasnt built in a day or a year! on the other hand, parents you should get involved and speak out about the problems. I am proud to say I graduated from Albany State University in Spring '06', and now managing. Thanks T.C.! Markeith Gallemore c/o 2000

I graduated from Twiggs County High in 2002 and i am very proud to say that I am an Alumnus of TCCMHS. I participated in plenty of extracurricular programs. My school has improved a lot since my freshman year there. I couldn't stand the superintendent there when i first enrolled at twiggs county from Wilco High but now after seeing the changes she made to make twiggs county and myself better i was sad to see her leave. I would recommend any parent with interest to Enroll there children into TCCMHS because the faculty and administratives do care.

This is my child's second year in this school, and my assessment of the school is that they are trying to improve, but the quality of education he is receiving leaves much to be desired. The basic problem, as I see it, is apathy - on the part of the parents, students and teachers. It is the apathy of the parents which is the most detrimental. The teachers don't expect or demand much of the students, and the students live down to those expectations and demands. This is too bad. A highly motivated parent, with an equally motivated student can get a good education at this school, but mostly in spite of, not because of the school.
