This is an excellent school that has great leadership, staff and a very diverse student body which has been key components for building my three children's "I-want-to-go" to school positive attitude at an early age. The awards they receive are a byproduct of a staff that nurtures a partnership between the school, parents, PTA, higher education institutions, businesses and communities to develop exceptional students / citizens.
Great School. We love our son's 2nd grade teacher. The have functions organized all through the year. My son's teacher challenge him with tougher work.
I love Jackson Elementary. My son is a special needs child and all his teachers are always helpful and nice.
My son is in the 2nd grade at Jackson and he is doing great, due in part to excellent attentive teahers and an awesome PTA (of which I am apart). Parents & Teachers working together has made Jackson a wonderful school of learning.
Excellent administration and 4th grade
Both of my children attend Jackson Elementary and we love it there. The doors are always open for parent involvement and the curriculum is very enriching. Homework is fair and the teahers all seem to work together as a team. GO JACKSON!!!
My 2 children have attended Jackson, with one still there. Overall, it is a good school. Academics are fairly strong, but there is not much opportunity to delve into subjects, as the the county-wide academic requirements force too much content. Extracurriculars include several clubs, music, and art programs. No organized sports teams, but, hey, it's elementary school. Parental involvement runs hot and cold, with a strong core team that always gets things done. Very diverse student body, with lots of ESOL kids. Have there been issues, yes. However, overall, this is a good school.
My son attended 4th and 5th grades. I've been pleased with the academic curriculim as far as grade level appropriateness and what they expect of the students. They do not ask too much, yet do not require too little. My son has never complained of being bored, or that the work is too difficult. He is in the gifted program. I am not sure that being in focus (as they call it) has benefitted him in any concrete way, other than to get him out of his regular classes for a neat diversion. My complaints for both years have been that the teachers have not required homework! he never brings home work to do, which doesn't prepare them for the future when they will be indundated with work outside the classroom.
High teacher quality. Good to see individual involvement at such a large school. Very organized with a very active PTA.
I just want to say that I think Jackson is one of the best elementary schools in this area. My daughter attended K-1, before we moved to Douglasville, and I can honestly say that i really miss this school!!! She had Mrs. Soucy and then Mrs. Snell. They are both outstanding teachers. I cannot say enough about either one of them. I can say that my daughter really misses her old school and her friends. I also would like to say that if I could drive from douglasville to lawrenceville every day, she would still be there. She does love her teacher from last year. that is the only thing that she really likes about the school she is in now. WE MISS JACKSON!
