THIS SCHOOL IS HORRIBLE!!!!! THIS IS A SCHOOL THAT I WISH I WOULD HAVE NEVER GONE TO. IT SMELLS LIKE A DUMP , STRAIGHT FISH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ITS SO MUCH KIDS USING PROFANITY,GETTING PREGNANT, AND KIDS ON THE NEWS THAT GOT BEAT UP. AND THEY ARE SO GHETTO AND INAPPROPRIATE. THERE ARE MANY FIGHTS. AND THE SCHOOL HAS ONLY MADE AYP ONCE,!! UGH IT MAKES ME SO MAD. I ADVISE YOU TO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD TO LITHONIA MIDDLE SCHOOL.! -SINCERELY someone who HATES LMS with a PASSION!

During my 20 years in education, I have learned that parents who complain about schools being 'bad' are usually ones who had bad experiences when they were in school. You need to realize that you do not get anything more out of anything than you put into it! Parental involvement at LMS is VERY low - virtually nonexistent! I see parents come in on their high horses in August wanting to withdraw their kids to send them to a 'high' performing school (?) ONLY to have them return in January once they have been withdrawn for failing grades and repeated dicsipline problems. At that point - what type of miracle are we supposed to be able to perform? Parents - understand that UNTIL you get actively involved in your child's life - you are hindering them from blossoming to their full potential. Meet their teachers, communicate with them regularly, monitor your children's grades via the parent portal, assist them with projects, create a homework space for them to work peacefully, REQUIRE that they read newspapers, books, something more than XBOX, CELL PHONES AND unmonitored FACEBOOK accounts, join PTA - BE INVOLVED!

Actually Ia m a student and I dont like the school at all even though I have very good grades. I got awards and diplomas but the honestly most teachers are way to strict. They yell alot and they dont try to understand the students. Alot of the students there have very bad behavior . They try to get lots of attention. Its just not a learning environment. I should know all this because I actually spend 8 hours there and have very good grades and behavior.

I am a student at Lithonia Middle School. Are school is not bad. We work hard to pass. I admit there are behavior problems but the principal and teachers know how to handle the problems. I hate when people say Lithonia is bad. It is a great school for your child to go to.

Lithonia Middle School is not as bad as evrybody says. It may not be in a good neighbor hood , but if your kids are inside learning they should not have a problem. The teachers are great and they are strict about their work being done and they actually care about there students. People think that since Lithonia Middle School did'nt make AYP means that they are not a good school, but they are wrong because making AYP means that your students are at school on a regular bases and passed the CRCT. If parents are not sending there kids to school then they don't learn and they don't pass the CRCT. So just send your child to school and be responsible for your child and his or her grades. I'm am certainly learning because I have a 3.3 gpa and you have to learn to get that.

If you are seeking excellence or at least a decent school, LOOK SOMEWHERE ELSE! Many of the students are undisciplined, and the staff seems to do little to correct this problem. As a parent and educator, I am very disappointed in the lack of professionalism shown by the faculty and staff members. The school system should really take a look at the non-theme/magnet schools in DeKalb and focus its energy (and money) to improve schools such as LMS

I am a student that used to attend Lithonia Middle a before i moved on to highschool and its a great school. The school has a great set-up, the students have good attitudes and dont get into too much trouble for the most part, they all interact with each other in positive ways, the teachers care about what they do and teach in methods that will help the students proceed to the next level and they make it fun to go to school. The students and teachrs here have good relationships with each other and work together to get the main job done: get the students ready to pass the CRCT test which i exceeded the standards on all parts and met the standards on social studies and now i've moved on too high school where i have all A's and B's. I truely would recommend this school for your child.

I do not like this school and can't wait to get my child out. The majority of the teachers do not care about the student, they talk down to them and they are inconsiderate as far as wheteher the kids are learning or not.It is not a safe enviroment and the superintendents are no better, because they cannot even return a simple phone call.
