West Side is the kind of school every parent dreams of sending their child- small, high performing, outstanding teachers, smart principal and friendly parents. This is my 3rd child going through West Side and she loves it just like the previous two. My older children love the 6th Grade Academy and Marietta Middle School. I've been so impressed with the outstanding teachers and staff at Marietta City Schools!
fabulous small school. Teachers and administration as well as all other stafff know the children and parents! Excellent academic program.
The Principal and Teachers at West Side are the best you'll find around! My family moved into Marietta City because of West Sides' outstanding reputation and how impressed we were when touring the school. My children love the Drama Club, Movie Nights, their TAG classes, and most of all -the teachers! The culture at this school is so special and unique -I can't thank you enough, Marietta City Schools.
We can not say enough about West Side. Our family has been at West Side for 8 years with both of our children attending since kindergarten. The staff is the most caring, involved group of teachers that continue to impress us with their willingness to do what ever it takes to teach each and every child. The open door, open arms, feeling that you get when you walk the halls assures you that your child is in the best place they can be. The TAG (Talented and Gifted) program that they offer is a tremendous success. My children love the opportunity to explore different academic areas such as broadcasting on the Stinger News, Power point presentations in Computer class, and Fitness classes just to name a few, This program is done in such a fun way that the children have a great time while learning. The after school program continues to bring different opportunities for the kids to be involved in classes that they may not be able to otherwise attend; tennis, acting, and chess just to name a few. We could go on and on; you just have to see it for yourself and be prepared to be as impressed as we are!
Awesome school with outstanding teachers.
My son is in 3rd Grade at WS. We love it! Not only is the new addition great, but so is Mrs. Rust! We are blessed to have a teacher who openly & frequently communicates with us (parents). She is friendly & willing to discuss how her class is run (rules, expectations, etc.). WS encourages parents to participate, has an active PTA, a wonderful gifted program called MILE and the Enrichment Program which every child seems to enjoy. The only down side is the Marietta City School system having early release days in the middle of the week; instead of on a Friday and Cobb County & MCS's calendars never seem to match up with the start & end of school plus all the holidays in between.
As parents of a 5th and 4th grader, We can not say enough positive things about West Side. As transfer students 2 years ago, our children were made to feel as though they had been coming to WS since Kindergarten. As parents we were welcomed as well with open arms and a real sense of a community. I am so grateful to the administration, staff and teachers. Each teacher has a special gift of how to relate on an individual level to each child, zoning in on their needs and strengthing their accomplishments. WS convinced me to stay within the City of Marietta school system and not enroll my children in private school (which was a strong possibility). To this day, we have never regreted our decision to stay within the MCS system, our children have advanced further than our wildest dreams. Thank you West Side!!
i have a 7 year old son who is currently in the the first grade 1-b.we moved to marietta in august 07 .i was very nervous about sending my child to another ga.-city school because our experience for the last 2 years was stressful to put it mildly! but this year is like wow!!!!!everyone is so hands on ,one on one, parent involvement is actually encouraged instead of feared. my son is progressing so well and i couldn`t ask for a better teacher ! thanks mrs.callahan &the whole falculty at west side.
I have two children at West Side and can not say enough good things about it in 150 words. As an alumni, it still has the same feel in many ways as it did in 1970, but has many leading edge programs including our new Gifted/Talented theme. Parents and children will find a small hometown school feel with teachers/staff dedicated to providing top notch learning opportunities. We have home schooled and done private prior to coming to Marietta City. West Side provides us all we are looking for and is a wonderful place for our family. The Principals are exceptional and the teachers, many of whom are unapologetically open about their faith, make a real difference in the school. We could send our kids anywhere, but we CHOOSE West Side!
This is an excellent jewel of a school within a small, exceptional public system. The school offers individualized instruction and differentiation as well as a school wide enrichment model which focuses on gifted teaching strategies for all students. EXCELLENT
