This is a WONDERFUL school! Couldn't be happier. It's interesting to me that the negative review on this site is about a county decision - the administration at the school had no control over who was placed in that class - and it should be directed to the people responsible for those unfortunate circumstances. Our administration is extremely responsive, proactive, and helpful. I'd recommend this school to anyone! Many people actually make the decision to build in our school zone based on the fact that their children will attend Birmingham Falls. That speaks volumes.
We love this school!!!! I now have three children attending Birmingham Falls. I have one child in fifth, in second and in kindergarten. We couldn't be happier. There is amazing communication between the staff and parents and everyone is always willing to help. They have a wonderful and friendly front office staff, as well as a principle that goes above and beyond to make the school have a great learning environment.
My daughter was enrolled in first grade at BFES this past fall. Soon before her first day, we were informed that BFES had more 1st grade registrants than expected and that my daughter would be placed in the overflow class with a temporary teacher. We were told that there was "nothing the BFES administrative staff could do" to rectify this until after the 10th day of classes at which point funding would be released (based upon the actual registered headcount). A month went by and still no permanent teacher. When the permanent teacher was assigned, we learned that this was to be her first solo teaching assignment. We were introduced to this new teacher and were immediately underwhelmed. Not only was she inarticulate, but she also only had about 10 teeth in her mouth. We thought, "Seriously? This is the best they could find?" Anyway, she lasted a little over two months; in early December, she just went AWOL; she just left one day and didn't come back. Meanwhile, the discipline and learning environment in the class were both in shambles. Having had no success eliciting any relief from the hapless bureaucrat of a principal, we finally pulled our daughter out of the school.
I have a second grader and a kindergartner at BFES and we couldn't be more pleased with the curriculum, Teachers, and staff. Its a newer school so the facility is beautiful. It also has a great mix of experience with seasoned teachers and staff as well as newer graduates to the education field. We love our school!
My daughter, and I, are very happy at Birmingham Falls Elementary. For the most part the teachers are excellent. I am very pleased with the parent evolvement, and the support of that from the teachers.
My wife and our two kids were fortunate to move into the Birmingham Falls Elementary School district three years ago. Since that time, we have found the school, administration, teachers and staff to be profesional and caring about the welfare, educational and personal success of our children. This school has set a new standard in finding the balance of student success, in an era where success is driven by "numbers," by offering an exceptional learning environment for both parents and teachers. As a relatively new school, I expect the administation, including, the highly-respected principal and assistant principal, to continue on a path that will emphasis more opportunities for development of its students, including STEM initiatives. Parents are always welcome at BFES, and encouraged to actively participate in classroom and school activities. Yet, more can be done, and community leaders, local businesses and academic partners should also get involved, realizing the "gem" the Milton and Alpharetta communities have in this wonderful school. My take-away is optimism - seeing these kind, intelligent and creative minds flourishing makes me proud to be a Bobcat parent.
This school has had some instability in administration over the past few years, but we finally have a wonderful principal who is doing a fantastic job bringing the community together! I would highly recommend this school.
This school year has been wonderful so far. The new principal is amazing with the children and has made a big difference. The teachers we have met are inspiring to our kids and have listened to us when we have had concerns and questions. Overall, we feel that this is the best year this school has had and are looking forward to another year ahead. We are happy to have found such a wonderful community school after re-locating to Atlanta.
School was ill-equipped to handle increase in 1st grade enrollment in 2013; their solution was to create one extra large overflow class and assign a temporary teacher to preside over that class. As a result, there have been huge discipline problems in that class and they are a month behind all of the other classes The administration has been completely unresponsive to addressing the issues I guess i shouldn't be surprised. As a government school, there is no accountability and no consequences for this type of behavior. It's shameful, but not unusual.
