I was a fellow student a PES and in my oppinion, IT IS THE BEST SCHOOL EVER! The teachers and staff listen and teach well, they care and help improve your skills. I always got good grades, but when I changed schools to Norcross ES, everything changed. All the students agreed that they wanted to go to another school. Teachers and staff are rude and act like they don't care. Grades have been falling and teachers don't support. PES IS the one of the best schools.
My son attends Peachtree Elementary School. I must say the teachers and the paraprofessionals are on top of thier game. My son when he first came to Peachtree Elementary he was having a hard time socially. The staff worked with him constantly. Later, they had him tested and found out he had Autism. In addition, they were supportive in finding ways to accomodate him. I must say he learned a lot. His reading level is excellent. I look forward to next year. I must say moving to Gwinnett county and having my son attend Peachtree has been great!!
Peachtree was a great school for my daughter last year, her kindergarten teacher was excellent. But this year it all went down hill. I am a very involved parent. All year long I thought that my daughters spelling looked kind of weird only to be reassured by her teacher (the expert) that this was normal for kids her age. Now that it 4weeks left her papers are coming home mark with x marks which were previously ignored. It ruining her confidence. I think that this year she ended up in a bad class because she would come home from being picked on or bullied and no one ever contacted me , I would have to contact the school and the problem would still go unsolved . After talking to family about the situation I found out that you never go to the school with your problems, but instead go to the Board of Education . Next year I'll see if that works. Hopefully she will have a good teacher and that will be .
Wow. I am really surprised at the positive feed back. Are these fake posts to boost the school rating? I had nothing but issues when my son was there. He is a gifted student, tests on a high school level in reading and math and he was denied entrance to the gifted program because "they ran out of spots." He told me about fights on school campus. He would come home asking strange questions about our religion saying his teacher told him that no one knows if there is religion is right and religion is really just a "nice cultural tradition." I was horrified. I don't think any parent of any religion wants their family values undermined behind their back! He literally had 5 questions of homework a night. One question in each subject. I never once saw a book in three years. The last straw was when my son was suspended from school for playing with a toy in class. As a teacher myself, I would NEVER suspend a kid for such a petty offense. It took me a WEEK to get a hold of the admin. after this and when I asked why he was suspended she blamed it on the ESOL program taking all their space and funding. TERRIBLE SCHOOL!
I have taught at Peachtree for 9 years. I believe our school is one of the best around. As a staff, we go the extra mile to be leaders in Gwinnett county schools. Peachtree prides itself in challenging its teachers to be the best for the children. Peachtree teachers go the extra mile to make accommodations for student s needs (struggling and challenging). I am proud to work at such a wonderful school and would not send my own children anywhere else.
I was a student teacher at PES during the fall of 2011 and I provided math support teaching 2nd and 3rd grades during spring of 2012. I have experience in private elementary schools and in 3 elementary schools in another of Georgia's counties, but none of these came close to Peachtree's total focus ( teachers and administrators alike) on educating children. There were no distracting agendas. At Peachtree, academics was always front and center.
I was amazed at how fast my daughter was reading proficiently and by other skills she acquired at this school. By the middle of first grade, she was reading like a fourth grader. This is a great school with excellent teachers.
I have been involved with PES for over 10 years, I can honestly say that there is not a more hard working, professional group of teachers in any school in Gwinnett County. Peachtree is the only International Bacceularate school in Gwinnett County. This greatly effects the teaching and learning at Peachtree. There is far more hands on learning due to the IB program. Parents who look at statistics only need to visit Peachtree to see it firsthand. It is truly a special place where high expectations are the norm.
All my children have attended Peachtree Elementary School. They have received an excellent education through out the years. If you note the leaders in Pickeneyville Middle and then onto Norcross High School, a majority are Peachtree Elementary alumnae. Leadership and Responsibility are are very important part of the IB program and Peachtree has instilled this in their students. Peachtree is the right road to take when your child is looking for a quality education.
The school is a candidate for the International Baccalaureate designation and the curriculum, teacher participation and staff leadership has really stepped up to meet the criteria! Once done, it will be an exclusive area for getting IB schools from elementary through high school. I have a son in the gifted program and it has done wonders for him!
I feel that Peachtree Elementary should be rewarded because of its wonderful acedemic program and its diversity. Their method of teaching (more hands on) is beneficial for all the children. I believe that the teachers and all of the staff are genuinely interested and caring to all of the students. I love Peachtree Elementary!
You are providing my granddaughter with a very positive, nurturing learning experience (she is six years old).
I have been happy at Peachtree this year only because of the teachers we have had. Overall, I believe there is little diversity at Peachtree.....while others may consider it diverse. I believe the quality of the school has declined a great deal. As a parent, I have safety concerns and also very unhappy with the cleanliness of the school grounds. I believe that so many essentials have been removed in the name of 'diversity'....PE should be everyday, year round. Spanish is year round...although on a rotating schedule. The arts 9 weeks each during the year. Children need recess....but if a teacher chooses not go take her class at all for the entire year...it is considered acceptable. I will say....on things that can be changed that you are not happy with....the administration is most always very helpful. Still....from 20 years ago.....you could say today, it 'ain't what it used to be'.
My son had a great year last year in Kindergarten. The teacher and the staff are very professional and student centered.
My oldest son has been going to peachtree since kindergarden, I have always loved the school, my concern this year around registration was the parents not the kids. Some of the parents were , well not very parenty mayby it was just those few I saw at the time I went but I just hadnt encountred cussing parents any other years. I am however pleased with my sons teacher! Mr Meeker is wonderful and is bringing out the best in my son. I am amazed at the progress hes shown in just a few weeks. Last year was I think the most stressfull year I had ever had, but this year is starting out smoothly *crossing fingers* that it stays that way! School is wonderful, love the staff, not their fault about some of the parents I guess.
My daughter is in first grade at Peachtree and has had a terrific beginning to her education there. Her teachers for kindergarten and first grade have both been excellent. The administrative staff has been sensitive and communicative. I love the diverse cultural exposure my daughter gets there. I volunteer in the classroom on occasion and am always impressed with the self-control the students show as well as the quality of instruction the teachers give. My son will be starting kindergarten there next year. I have been very pleased with the depth of enrichment programs offered to students such as advanced reading groups and fun field trips to performing arts events.
