Yargo elementary is one of the best school in barrow county. they added value to the life of kids on daily basis.
Being from NYC, I find the teaching staff is wonderful, genuine, intelligent and above all caring. Two of my children are currently attending, one in the 5th grade Yargo and other than recent administration changes, the teachers excel in their communication with us on all aspects concerning our childrens success. I am proud to parent of students attending Yargo Elementary School(YES).
From what I understand this is a great school with teachers and staff that are committed to excellence.
My 2 children have been at this school for 2 years now, and they both LOVE it! The teachers and faculty I've had the pleasure of interacting with are all friendly and helpful. My child in first grade has had some attention/focusing issues, and his teacher and the assistant principal have all been working together along with me to be flexible and come up with creative and positive solutions to help him. I couldn't ask for better. Wonderful school! The chorus teacher and program is fantastic here as well!
I have 2 boys in YES. Both are excelling. My youngest struggles to keep up, but YES plugged into him and he is on top of all subjects. He enjoys school and LOVES his teachers! Both write letters of endearment to them. The teachers set this school apart from all others...the staff love the children and are very affectionate with them. Thank you YES!!!
great school, teachers and staff. they have been so helpful this year. thank you yargo
Every school has problems, no person or organization is perfect. I am glad the school is strict; children today need to be taught discipline and the school administration should never fear a child. My son has been attending Yargo since Kindergarten and he loves it. The teachers are always available to meet with me regarding academic struggles with my child and together we have come up with a solution to help him succeed.
I am not quite sure what school the negative reviews are writing about. My second grader has had the best school year ever. The teachers are very in tune with students, lots of smile hugs and yes discipline. I go to the school often (it is encouraged)for lunch, school events and just to see how things are going. I have never been turned away. You do have to sign in at the office and wear a visitor badge. It is for safety and I for one appreciate that. I would not dare hesitate to recommend Yargo. We have been involved with 'bottom of the barrel' schools and this is not one of them
my daughter has attended since kindergarten and is now in 3rd grade. All of her teachers have been very kind and loving and good at creating a positive learning environment. They are great about meeting with parents and really letting them know how their child is doing. They also take the time to get to know the child--you can tell when you have parent conferences with the teachers. The principal, Mr. Carnathan, is a very pleasant, effective, caring but firm administrator. My wife and I are overall extremely happy with our child's education at Yargo Elementary.
My children are attending Yargo. However we have moved from another state and moved to an area where we heard nothing but good reviews about the school.(school was most important to us) We now wish we never moved! We have had nothing but problems with the school since about our 2nd week here. They are very strict and set in there ways. The old schools motto no child left behind was 100% true! Come by and visit any time to see your childs progress and what they are doing. Feel free to check in at the front desk and just go by to look in on your child.. Here that is a NO.. It makes me feel like something is being hidden and that, I do NOT like. I also do NOT like the idea that 1-4th do not have teacher assistants! They need help!
The pta meetings are in the middle of the afternoon, when everyone is working. Most people do not get home from work until 6 pm, if the meetings were after 6, then maybe more parents would attend the meetings. I love yargo as does my children, but the lack of teacher/parent involvement makes it hard for the parents. The teachers need to be more open with what the parents have to say, and not just ignore their advice or help. The principal needs to step in when the teacher is wrong.
My step-son attends Yargo and we are very pleased. They do have strict policies but the rules are for everyone and not just a few. I can see a huge improvement in our childs reading abilities. Any time that we have had questions about anything the teacher and principle are always available and happy to discuss his progress with us. I would recommend Yargo Elementary to any parent.
My son has just started school this year an he seems to be enjoying it. I am very pleased with the parent/teacher communication thus far. What I do see as a problem is parent involvement. Some complain about lack of communiction yet don't join PTO or attend any of the activities or meeting the school holds. If you want your childs teacher to communicate to you, get involved yourself, that is your responsibility as a parent. My son is being challenged, encouraged, but what is most important is that he is having fun at the same time.
My 3 kids go to YES and all of them under the age of 10 yrs old. Yargo is very strict in their policies. They are not the most compassionate people in my experience. They are more about ratings and scores for the school than the kindest and loving towards the kids. They are considered one of the best in their ability to teach. They do lack the communication and understanding with the Parents.
I have two sons, one who has graduated from Yargo onto middle school and one who is in kindergarten at Yargo. I am quite pleased with the fact that my 5 year old can now read! He will head into first grade with a second grade reading ability. I am extremely pleased with my sons teacher this year. She is very nuturing, patient and really knows how to get the children interested in learning. My older son was in advanced classes at Yargo and was made to feel he was an outstanding student. He had great teachers and was challenged on a regular basis. Now that he is in middle school, he is making straight A's but complains he is bored most of the day. Yargo recognizes and encourages the more advanced students and makes them strive for even more! I would highly recommend this school.
While I have been mostly impressed with the educational program at Yargo, the only 'problem' I have noticed is that at times they have excessivly strict rules. Children are not allowed to be direspectful, out of control or disruptive which I think is extremely important. But there are other issues that I consider minor offenses that are treated as major ones. The teachers are highly involved in the children's learning and growth and sometimes the 'zero' tolerance can hinder that objective. My over all review of this school is a B+. The staff is very dedicated and regardless of how strict I may think they are, the children respond very well and learn above the expected levels because of the teacher's and their curriculums. On the whole, I am extremely pleased we moved out to Auburn and most importantly into the Yargo school district.
I have visited this school several times. My grandchrildren attend this school. I was treated as well as anyone could be treated. I could tell that the teacher and staff cares for the children very much. I attended several awards day programs. Everything was great.
My 3 year old son goes to this school. Everyone is really nice. The Teachers and Staff have high standards for education, I'm very pleased!
