Our new report, Searching for Opportunity: Examining Racial Gaps in Access to Quality Schools in California and a List of Spotlight Schools, highlights schools that are providing exceptional opportunities for African American and Hispanic students. The report reveals that only 2 percent of African American students attend a quality school (based on multiple factors explained in the full report) compared to 59 percent of white students and 73 percent of Asian students. In our report, we also highlight the schools that stand out for African American students, called spotlight schools. These schools offer strong academics and opportunities and pave the path for educational success for African American students. Here is the list of spotlight schools for African American students.
