I think that Kua O Ka La PCS is a wonderful school. this school is for children that love the outdoors and hands on learning. Like all schools it has it ups and downs. Being a graduate from that school i am proud to say i am a Class of 2008 from Kua O Ka La PCS. you need to love the life you live. And live the life you love.

I watched them go from nothing to what they are now, and they did it all with their own hands. Every school should be modeled after this one.

i do not have a child attending this school but i recently visited on a cultural exchange, for i am a maori from new zealand, and our group, 'Te Wero' travelled to hawaii to spend a4 days with the kids from the school and i must say i have never met a bunch of kids like these. kids who are all happy and polite who welcomed us with open arms. i know the group felt as if we had made a new family with the people of the school. to uncle Ali'i and aunty emily and everyone else who made our stay most enjoyable, we give you big ups, and we cant wait until we are back there again. this school can do wonders for kids especially in teaching them the was of the hawaiian people much like the kura kaupapa schools here in New Zealand. Aloha My son attended public school and completed 6th grade there. He just wasn't into learning. He wasn't a bad student and he wasn't a great student. He really did't care. I knew that going over to the intermediate/high school they would chew him up and spit him out. So we talked and went to Kua O Ka La for an interview. He sounded good so we gave it a try. Wow. I can not put the difference into words. School has changed dramatically for him. He loves school and every chance he has to kokua at school he does. When they have career day and visitors come to school to teach them, these students make an imu and prepare food and host their visitors, My son will spend the night at school (camp there) to help with the imu. Last summer they built their own ukelele. The schools malama pono!
