Carbondale New School is a wonderful private school! We've had several years of experience there. Our son's classes have always been small. The teachers are excellent, caring, and well-qualified. We appreciate the flexibility of the curriculum. For example, our second grade son has been encouraged and allowed to accelerate his reading so that he is now reading at the third grade level. A fourth grader is doing sixth grade math. Kids who are 'ahead' or 'behind' are just given what they need without social stigma or undue praise. My son is proud of his reading accomplishments but they are just treated as something he likes and is good at. The school takes parental input seriously. Parents elect other parents to serve on the board of directors. I encourage you to take a look at their website: www.carbondalenewschool.com. We love this school!
